Wolfpack JV-35 De La Salle-37
New faces stepping up almost enough to overcome 11pt deficit late and upset powerful De La Salle...
DLS sinks long jumper at the buzzer to spoil upstart Pack comeback.
Anton Shvets, Clay Bedinger, Justin Johnson, A.J. Cristobal, Sam Frazier, Jack Williams and
aged veteran Max Saravia, did erase the late 11 pt. difference with a tenacious effort,
especially defending and rebounding. It looked like O.T for sure until the DLS long range line drive rattled in at the buzzer.
Exciting game. Good effort. We need to have quality effort for 4 quarters...potential is there 4 greatness.
Wolfpack makes it sweet 15 over De La Salle in gritty O.T. performance 31-29!! (now 15-7 lifetime vs. DLS)
It was all about TEAM DEFENSE. Trailing 29-22 with 4 min. left in regulation
THE PACK threw a zero on DLS and manufactured enough points to force overtime.
The "six pack" of Jordan, Chris, Chin, Griff, Storer and Jack also shut out De La Salle in overtime!!!
Chris Williams made the game winner. 2 points was all the defensive minded Pack would need.
Now the Pack has more than doubled it's won-loss ratio over De La Salle since 1997.
Great job gutting it out with awesome team "D" on a day when our offense wasn't clicking.
You truly played "D" with the cunning and ferocity of a "PACK". You refused to be denied.
Congrats to the Pack on their poise and tenacity in victory over extremely physical Vallejo,65-54.
Anthony Griffith had 26 pts. and 5 assists, accounting for 36 of the teams 65.
Young Wolfpack upsets Northgate in 1st round of Elite Varsity Tourney. Chris Williams
splits 2 defenders in transition with balance and poise for game winning lay-up, with 2.6 seconds left!!
Chris placed the dagger, but everyone elevating their game and accepted the challenge of
playing up, which was the difference. Great Team effort...now on to the quarter finals.
Wolfpack JV nearly pulls off all time upset...Trails De La Salle Varsity by 14 at halftime...
holds them to only 16 second half points to force O.T., but lose 48-46 after valiant effort.
We had our opportunities to complete the upset, especially game ending free throws.
Great step up effort in your 1st Varsity challenge this season. Your performance was just short of a miracle.
We are looking forward to the challenge of moving up to the Varsity Tournament.
Wolfpack remembers Spring...turns up the heat to capture Elite Summer Classic
Victory over De La Salle in exciting title game completes undefeated Summer!MAXIMUM EFFORT gave us MAXIMUM SUCCESS. Mentally, physically and fundamentally!!
Five foot eight inch Jordan Johnson grabs key rebound away from six foot five Spartan.
Griffith & C. Williams combine for 35 pts.
Pack outplayed Spartans in final seconds for Elite Title. (see final 2 minutes by Max below)
Wolfpack Varsity - 56 (PACK now 14-7 against DE LA SALLE since 1997)
De La Salle - 54
Final 2 minutes by MAX SARAVIA:
With only 2 minutes left Sammy Frazier hits two clutch free throws to put us up 2. De la Salle answers back with a bucket of their own and the game is tied again. We come down and can not score and de la sale charges back.. they shoot and miss and theirs loose back that Jacko Williams picks loses it gets it back dribbles by 2 Spartans and while stumbling gets knocked to the floor and a foul is called. He steps to the line and misses the first and the game remains tied with only 37.5 seconds remaining. The second shot is up and GOOD!! De La Salle quickly tries to answer they swing the ball around and get it to the best shooter number 4 whose open but decides to pass on the shot and he drives in for a shorter shot and shockingly misses! The ball just falls out of the rim and their two trees 6’5 and 6’3 are under the basket but Jordan with a good box out skies for the rebound and they quickly foul with just 5.7 seconds remaining and were up by 1. Jordan steps to the line and drains the first!! He misses the second and De La Salle gets the rebound but we deny both shooters the ball and their forced to pass it to a guy who hadn’t shot all game and he chucks up a 3 and air balls… WE WIN!!!!
..........NOW COACH SUMS IT UP.................
Anthony Griffith played one of his finest all-around games with 17 pts and 5 assists,
but his poise and leadership and floor presence was EXCELLENT.
Chris had 18 pts and 6 rebs. Jack Williams had 8 pts. Andrew and Jordan did continue to improve.
Both again with 0 turnovers. That is huge in a title game against a quality opponent.
Andrew added 8 pts and of course Jordan had the rebound of the SEASON!! Great job.
You played with the HEART and POISE of a CHAMPION, so Championship Sunday became yours...
Firehawks left smoldering...Wolfpack is caught holding the torch in semi-final victory.
Anthony and Chris go for 17 pts each and Jack adds 13 and ZERO turnovers!!

Wolfpack ends League undefeated with victories over Northgate and Redwood Christian...
Wolves-56.....C.C. Wizards-37
100% effort and unselfish team play lead to offensive explosion. 10 players combined for 56 team points (season high)
Good team effort. We need to sharpen our defensive fundamentals and block out in upcoming games.

The Wolves whip um this time 46-41, Another great EIB turn around!!
Molinari gets cheek split open...no problem...still gets call!!
Mike takes elbow, cleans up, returns to hit 3 pointer that seals victory over DLS.
Wolfpack-46 De La Salle-39.....Pack now 13-7 vs. De La Salle since 1997!!
Wolfpack beats De La Salle with... DEFENSE, REBOUNDING and POISE!!!
Griff, Perez, Williams, Molo, Jordan, Chin and Frazier were the SUPER 7
that out played the past State Champs with tenacoius, SMART DEFENSE and
a poised precision offense that did not back down to a physical De La Salle squad.
Leadership from Griffith's offensive poise and Williams rebounding and "D" were big keys.
Congratulations on another EIB milestone. Remember your MILESTONES...
Never forget the EFFORT and FOCUS it takes to make them possible...
Wolves play with the "Heart of a Champion" and now they are.....
..............Elite Tournament Champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"D" McFadden and Anthony Chin shut down Contra Costa Wizards top scorers...
Wolves lead at the half 22-9!! Yes Defense does win Championships.
Congratulations and see you all tonight at Awards and Family Night.
JV PACK-ELITE SUMMER LEAGUE CHAMPS with victories
over Foothill HS and West Coast Eagles...
Finish league 8-0.
Jordan Johnson has break out weekend...Gets call in both victories!!!
Wolfpack- 49........Deer Valley-27
The Pack trailed at the half 15-14. Then SHUT-DOWN defense was center stage.
Deer Valley was held scoreless for the next 15:36. Thats right. They did not score
until under 5 minutes left in the game. That is DEFENSE!!! While the "D" was center stage,
The offense lit up a tough D.V. team for 35 second half points!!
10 minutes later.....Pack-52...Clayton Valley-45
A tired squad had to dig deep to keep it's record flawless...They did...
using guts, solid fundamentals, poise and the Heart of a Champion.
Jordan and Griff combined for 34 pts.
Great weeend. Kyle is proud of your grit and continued improvement. So am I.
Wolfpack Varsity sets several EIB all-time records. Overtime again!! Were they 3 for 3 ???
Waller gets call in 1st game back...grades are up and so is his 3 pt. shooting percentage!!
Week #6
Wolfpack Varsity...YES THEY DID win in OVERTIME for the 3rd time in 4 games!! (EIB and ELITE LEAGUE RECORDS).
Their terrific team-play and passsing was a fitting TRIBUTE to KYLE.
Wolfpack-64 Vallejo-58 YES...in OVERTIME again!!
WALLER with his 3's, STORER with his clutch "butt factors", CHRIS WILLIAMS poise,
leadership and rebounding, JACK WILLIAMS key free throws and ball protection, GRIFFITH
finishing at the hoop and key free throws...were just some of the factors in their
RECORD SETTING PERFORMANCE.
Competitive fire and poise down the stretch overcoming the 9 pt. deficit
with 4 minutes to play. You love to finish games. The tougher and more exciting
the game is...the better you play.
Gentlemen...you are playing with the HEART AND POISE of a CHAMPION!!!!
Records now owned by The 2007 Varsity Wolfack...
EIB and ELITE LEAGUE RECORDS: Most overtime games in a season (3).
Most O.T. wins in a Season(3). Most O.T. wins in a row (3).
Biggest 4th qtr. deficits overcome in back to back O.T. victories (11 and 9).
It is fitting that these feats were accomplished while dedicating this Season to Kyle.
Kyle is the only other EIB and ELITE LEAGUE RECORD HOLDER (21 points in one half).
Kyle...Your inspiration and dedication to EXCELLENCE lives on through your teammates.
Week #5
Wolfack Varsity...Was it Devine Intervention??? Anthony Griffith wearing
Kyle's old #32 jersey has "Angels in the Outfield" Moments in double evertime MIRACLE!!!
Third weekend sweep this Season... Including 2 wins over pesky RIVALS.
Maintain your "Excellence Journey". It has been fun to watch and EXTREMELY EXCITING!!!
MIRACLE AT TICE??? Kyle O'Connor's #32 lives on.......
Anthony Griffith's clutch scoring, Tanner Robinson (8th grader) plays
big role in 1st ever Varsity game, Chris Williams clears the boards and
Anthony Chin (9th grader) big on Defense in his 1st ever Varsity game.
Wolfpack Varsity trailed most of the second half and quite frankly was
not playing well. Trailing by 8 with 2 min. to play, a couple of free
throws and a three pointer by Tanner and the game was on. Trailing by 2
with 18 seconds left, Jack williams missed 2 free throws, Griffith
Missed a left handed lay-up and West Coast had the ball.
We fouled them with 6.9 seconds left. They made the 1st free throw
to go up by 3. That made it tough. Our 3 pt. shooting is suspect at
best. The second went in and out. Chris Williams cleared the board and
attacked at centered court drawing a double team. He flicked a pass to
Griffith who took one dribble, jab step and launched a 3 pointer just as
the BUZZER sounded....I was standing right behind Anthony and directly in-
line with the shot. It was right on line...would the tight rims at Tice
foil the Pack's last ditch effort... NO...IT RATTLED HOME...the crowd went
wild and so did the West Coast coach. He argued with the refs that the
clock had expired. They huddled and decided in short order...COUNT THE BASKET!!!
OVERTIME on Anthony Griffith's 1st 3 pt. shot of the Season and 1st ever BUZZER BEATER!!!
I looked at Anthony wearing Kyle's #32 jersey (proudly in his memory),then
I looked up to the Heavens...Was it devine intervention? Only Kyle knows
for sure.
Well, Griff put us into overtime, now who would step up, as we say to finish?
Overtime ended 38-38 with neither team scoring. The second overtime was
fast and furious. Chris Williams got a huge offensive rebound on our missed
free throw, attacked the hoop and dished to Griff for the slashing go ahesd
basket. West coast tied the game at 40. Pack ball with 22 seconds left.
Chris ate up some clock against the press with some clutch ball handling.
At 11 seconds left he drove and when the double came he hit Griff coming
off the left wing. Griff went baseline...weak side help came quickly...
so Griff slashed past weak side help for a reverse lay-up on the right side..
FOR 2 POINTS AND THE LEAD with 8 seconds to play!!!! The Eagles pushed the
ball up quickly and drew a questionable foul call. With 2 seconds left they
were shootng 2 for a possible tie!! 3 overtimes??? They made the 1st.
The second looked good but rattled in and out....all we need is the rebound
and victory is ours!!!...You guessed it CHRIS WILLIAMS cleared the boards
and the MIRACLE was complete in double overtime!!!!
Wolfpack-42 West Coast Eagles-40
Normally I take each game in stride with little emotion. This game was an
exception. I looked up to Kyle, shot both arms in the air, cheered and
high fived the PACK and the crowd, while our normally sudate fans went bonkers.
It was a great moment in time. KYLE, this one's for you and your Parents.
Anthony is doing your #32 proud and so is the rest of the gang. We miss you. YOUR EIB FAMILY
The young Wolves lost last week 52-19 to the Sabercats (Giant EGG)!! How will they respond?
Thanks to a scheduling opportunity, they got to play the SAME TEAM this week.
Only 7 days later, what turned out to be THE GOLDEN EGG hatched and the Wolves set the
ALL TIME E.I.B. RECORD for a one week turn around against the same team,
walloping the Sabercats 52-20!!! A 65 point turn around in 7 days. That is unheard of. Wolves now 4-1.
The previous record was held by the Coyotes of 2 years ago (5th & 6th) graders, who lost to
Central Pittsburg 62-29...then 1 week later beat them 33-30.
That was, as they say, a record that would never be broken. Well, never say never...
It wasn't just broken it was shattered!!! Great effort Wolves and startling improvement in 1 week??!!
WEEK #3...Youth and experience surprise NCS champs in overtime thriller. Movie or Reality?
WOLFPACK VARSITY takes the court with only 5 players...5 gutsy players!!
Paul Perez, Anthony Griffith, Chris Williams, Eric Newburn and Jack Williams...
Acalanes, defending North Coast Section Champs were laughing as we warmed up.
With newly donned custom wristbands in memory of long time EIB veteran, Kyle O'Connor,
these 5 guys played their hearts out with inspiration personified. It was SPECIAL to witness.
Max Saravia was courtside with extra added inspiration for the PACK. This was truly a special evening,
kind of surreal when you think about the whole picture. Five players short,
Max at his 1st game since last Summer (looking great by the way), Kyle's wristband debut, playing the
Champs with 2 Freshmen and 3 Juniors and the Freshmen (Jack Williams & Eric Newburn)
combine for the game winning bucket with 2.6 seconds left in overtime....
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! Sounds like the next great inspirational movie in the making. Great effort PACK.
PACK VARSITY-40 Acalanes-38, in the upset victory of the year. Who's Laughing now???
WEEK #2...All teams victorious again...Extends E.I.B. record......
WOLFPACK Varsity has enough poise down the stretch against St. Patrick.
Griffith holds their big man scoreless in 2nd half. Waller has best game ever in 4 pt victory.
WOLFPACK JV too much talent for Monte Vista in easy victory.
WOLVES win nail bitter over Contra Costa Wizards on Alex Foster's hustle follow-up of a
missed breakaway layup by "D" in the last 10 seconds...seals 1 point victory.
If we continue to improve...great things could lie ahead. Be worthy...EARN IT!!!
Congratulations on being the 1st group in E.I.B. history to win all of it's opening day games.
A great start to this SPECIAL SEASON that the Varsity Wolfpack has dedicated to Kyle O'Connor.
I am sure Kyle is very proud of the teams opening day performance.
Even though we had a good start...our potential to be MUCH better will take some effort
in the upcoming weeks to be considered in the same sentence as some of our great past teams.
The coaching staff is looking forward to that progress.
.......WOLVES TOURNAMENT MIRACLE!!!..........
Sat Aug 5th victories over Oakland Rebels and East Bay Bulls.
Championship Sunday...Victory over Bay Area Nuggets!!!
Despite the fact they played 3 Varsity players!!!! Congratulations on
Accomplishing what seemed impossible. Max was very proud!!!
..............Wolfpack JV...Elite Tournament CHAMPIONS.............Dominate De La Salle in Final 56-38. Anthony Griffith 18pts. 7rebs Chris Williams 10pts. and 4 assists. ONLY 6 TEAM TURNOVERS!!!! (1 off EIB record)

Semi-Final 54-52 Victory over Pittsburg Tarheels. (we needed all of them)

never trails in impressive victory over Perenial Power
De La Salle...EIB now 11-4 versus the Spartans since 1997
Wolfpack Varsity over De La Salle in final league game.
Pack Varsity-52
De La Salle-46
The veteran Wolfpack, despite their success, has not played
a full 4 qtrs all season, until now. This is the time to be
hitting on all cylinders. The game was a battle of character
& poise. Our team lived up to their name....
EXCELLENCE IN BASKETBALL WOLFPACK.
They were excellent, tenacious & fearless together.
Kevin Lubina led the Pack with 15 pts & 8 rebs.
Griff, Kyle & Poole had 8 pts each to exemplify our balanced

another is going to get 'em. Chris Williams had a poised 5 pts
& 4 assists. Great effort Pack.
The 3 amigos ride again... Williams, Griffith & O'Connor combine for 50 in league finale.
Wolfpack JV-62 Northgate-43

Wolfpack Varsity gets up early (9am Sat) and controls tempo
to take down athletic Deer Valley 50-43.
Great team effort for entire game. Lubina, who wakes up grumpy, dominated the post.
Wolfpack JV defense destroys De La Salle 42-15 before emptying bench.
Excellence now 10-4 vs the Spartans over 9 yrs. Final score 43-23
Griffith gearing up for tourney with well-rounded performance..

EXCELLENCE HAS EXCELLENT WEEKEND-5 wins 0 losses
Young Wolves coming of age...only 3 second half turnovers
lead to comeback victory #1, 54-48 over Pittsburg Tarheels.
Kyle O'Connor near perfect in 41 pt Sunday performance
on 20 of 22 from the floor and only 1 turnover in 3 games!
Wolfpack Varsity ...only leads the Green Machine by 6 at half 29-23.......then unleash the power of the Pack in the 2nd half outscoring De LA Salle 40-14!! Final 69-37 !!!!!
Kyle O'Connor was on fire 12 of 12 for 24 pts and no turnovers as JV outscores Acalanes in shootout 65-53.

In the kind of game where LEGENDS are BORN our JV Wolfpack OUTPLAYS De La Sallewith great team defense and poise beyond its years in CLASSIC LAST SECOND VICTORY
PACK JV-31
DE LA SALLE-30
Yes it was a war of wills. It was going to come down to defense and poise as it often does in these games. With 3:45 left it looked like a great Wolfpack effort would go un-rewarded. DLS led 30-25 and points were hard to come by. The Wolfpack defense and block out was perfect for the remainder of the game. Kyle O'Connor picked up 2 buckets with body position and great passes from Lawson & Adil to pull within one at 30-29 with under one minute remaining. With 27 seconds left the Pack got possession. Chris Williams
calls pick & roll with Adil (Good call against DLS defense)& it worked perfectly. Chris puts up the lay up attempt and in slow motion (seemed like forever)
the ball rolled around the rim and dropped off the front-NO GOOD!! But Chris stayed with his shot, jumped up and tapped it out to Lawson in the baseline corner on the right side. De La Salle doubles quickly. Elliott Lawson stays poised,
rips and splits the double team with a perfect pass to Perez on the strong block. Paul Perez faces, sees defense, fakes the shot and drops a perfect wrap around bounce pass to Kyle O'Connor on the weak block. Kyle receives the pass, goes high and soft on the glass.....and it goes IN with 17 seconds left,
Wolfpack leads 31-30!! Our defense did not even allow DLS to reach the 3 pt line in the final 17 seconds securing the victory. Adil, Lawson, Perez, O'Connor & Williams were the fantastic 5 defenders that shut them down at the end.
GREAT GAME, GREAT FINISH, TREMENDOUS TENACITY & POISE IN THE END.
On to the semi final. Adil led in scoring with 12 pts. Kyle, O'Connor has 11 pts (9in 2nd half)including the game winner. Elliot Lawson led in assists with 3 and steals with 4 while playing stellar defense. Chris Williams, playing with a fractured wrist, had 6 pts and the all important clear on the boards to make our final hoop possible!! Not too many teams, if any, can say they were victorious twice in the same season vs De La Salle. GREAT TEAM EFFORT.

THIS FINAL SECTION WILL STAY FOREVER IN MEMORY OF KYLE O'CONNOR AND THE MIRACLE AT TICE
We lost part of our EIB family. Kyle O'Connor, 5 year veteran of EIB,
gentleman, consumate team player
and EIB record holder, died in a car crash Jan. 2, 2007.
THE WOLFPACK VARSITY HAS DEDICATED THIS SEASON TO KYLE AND WILL PROUDLY BE
WEARING SPECIALLY EMBROIDERED WRISTBANDS IN HIS MEMORY AT ALL PRACTICES AND GAMES.
WE MISS YOU KYLE...YOUR EIB FAMILY

"A Parents Worst Nightmare" from Sun Feb. 11th 2007 edition.
Records now owned by The 2007 Varsity Wolfpack...
EIB and ELITE LEAGUE RECORDS: Most overtime games in a season (3).
Most O.T. wins in a Season(3). Most O.T. wins in a row (3).
Biggest 4th qtr. deficits overcome in back to back O.T. victories (11 and 9).
This is fitting that we accomplish these feats while dedicating this Season to Kyle.
Kyle is the only other EIB and ELITE LEAGUE RECORD HOLDER (21 points in one half, running clock).
Kyle...Your inspiration and dedication to EXCELLENCE lives on through your teammates.
Week #5
Wolfpack Varsity...Was it Devine Intervention???
Wolfpack ball with 22 seconds left.
This game was an
exception. I looked up to Kyle, shot both arms in the air, cheered and
high fived the WOLFPACK and the crowd, while our normally sudate fans went bonkers.
It was a great moment in time. KYLE, this one's for you and your Parents.
Anthony is doing your #32 proud and so is the rest of the gang. We miss you. YOUR EIB FAMILY
