Fairview Cardinals Team and League Information
Now in our 12th season, the Fairview Cardinals have established themselves as one of the top teams in the Cleveland area and the region. We continue to strive for playing highly competitive baseball and playing the game the right way and for the love of the game. The Fairview Cardinals baseball team was started with the name Bubba's Q in 2006 and plays in the Cuyahoga County Strongsville AAA League (AAA) and the Lake Erie Baseball League (LEBL) which is under the over-arching Diamond Baseball League. The team is based out of Fairview Park, Ohio and proudly calls Bohlken Park its home location. The name was changed in 2010 to the Fairview Cardinals. In 2017, we fell just short of the league title once again, but won the Runner Up Series and earned a bid to the NABF Pittsburgh Regional. The Cardinals won their 1st ever regional game but went 1-2 overall to end the season at 38-12 overall.
The Cuyahoga County Strongsville AAA baseball league was founded in 1975 and is based out of Strongsville, Ohio. The league was found and directed by the late Frank Rozum for the first 41 years of its existence. The Strongsville Recreation now directs the league. 2017 marks the 43rd season of the league. It is a semi-pro wooden bat baseball league with players age 18 and over pocessing a wide variety of playing experience. It was on the forefront of leagues switching to wood bats as 2001 marked the year of the change. The Cuyahoga AAA is affiliated with the National Amateur Baseball Federation (NABF) in the Major Division. The League Champion and the League Runner Up Series Champion are sent to a NABF regional tournament. The League Champion has the choice of which regional tournament to enter.
The AAA League returns all six teams from last season for the 2017 campaign as well as added to teams from the Cleveland Baseball Federation League. The returning teams are the Berea Blue Sox (2007-2016 League Champions - 10 years straight!), Fairview Cardinals, Blue-Claws, Winking Lizard, Firehouse Indians, and the Strongsville Americans (founding team still in the league). Joining the league from the CBFL are the Lake Erie Buckeyes and the Dukes. The Lake Erie Buckeyes won the NABF Cincinnati Regional in 2016 and then in the NABF World Series lost in the quarter-final after making it out of pool play. The league is two divisions this year and has two 14 game halves in the regular season. The winner of each half will play for their division championship and then the winner of each division will play for the League Championship in a Best of 3 Series. It promises to be a competitive and exciting summer in the Cuyahoga.
The league features many current and former collegiate players and also some former professional players. It has a wealth of talent and hopefully has some future professionals. The league is a non-profit league and each team funds itself for the season through sponsorships, fundraisers, donations, and individual player fees. If you or anyone you know has any interest in becoming a sponsor or making a donation to support the Fairivew Cardinals baseball team, please contact Player-Manager Mike Faile (email@example.com).
