Hempfield Fall Classic

November 18, 2012

With the end of the 2012 fall season quickly approaching, the U11 Premier Lazers headed up to Lancaster County with hopes of capturing the one major tournament that had alluded them.  With a favorable schedule, the boys got off to a slow start dropping a critical "in-group" contest.  That Saturday afternoon, the boys re-grouped and posted a stong victory to setup a Sunday morning battle that could get them back in the Hempfield finals.  With a chilly Sunday on the horizon, the boys arrived back at Classics Soccer Park with victory on their minds.  From there, a convincing 4-1 victory over the hosts earned the U11 Premier Lazers an unbelievable 12th straight tournament finals appearance.  In the finals, the Lazers battled a very tough CPYSC team in the first half to a 0-0 draw.  However, in the second half, the Lazers came alive pouring in four goals in a ten minute span to quickly put the game out of reach.  With the victory, a Hempfield Fall Classic championship was finally theirs and also brought the LSC Premier 01-02 team's career to a fitting end.  Check out the Lazers with their Hempfield trophies!!!  On to 11v11 next season and new horizons with HFC UNITED!!!

EASL Open Tournament

November 11, 2012

Coming off a successful end to their first Delco League campaign, the U11 Premier Lazers headed to Eastern Regional Park for a third time in four years. This time, on the horizon, bigger and older competition! On a beautiful Saturday, the Lazers started their quest for some U12 hardware against a familiar foe that they jumped on within the first minute for an early 1-0 lead. With more goals to follow, the Lazers cruised to a 5-0 win in game #1 of group play. After a short break, the Lazers got off to an incredibly "quick" start in game #2 of group play with a hat trick in the first seven (7) minutes of play on their way to a 2-0-0 finish for the day. When Sunday morning dawned, the Lazers took to a chilly pitch against a solid PHWM team in which a beautiful goal in the final few minutes capped off a second half comeback and earned the Lazers an 11th straight tournament finals appearance! What an accomplishment! In the final, the age and size of their opponents finally caught up to them as an outstanding ASA Elite Juventus team defeated the Lazers, but not after the boys put a real scare into them for the first 20 minutes. With one tournament left on the slate, the Lazers are guaranteed of yet another successful season!!! Check out the boys with more EASL hardware!!!

Dillsburg Dual Shootout

October 7, 2012

The LSC U11 Premier's trip to Dillsburg was met by a "new" foe in 2012.....the cold! Some truly frigid weather hit the boys right out of the gate on Saturday morning as they fought the chilly conditions as well as a bunch of solid (and older) U12 teams. After the three (3) mini games, the Lazers found themselves at 2-1-0, the overall #9 seed, making them the #1 seed in Division II of U12 - a great accomplishment for sure! To finish off their successful Saturday, the boys easily advanced to the winner's bracket semifinals with a decisive 4-0 victory. A well earned restful (and warm) evening was then on tap. Sunday morning dawned with more chilly temperatures, but the boys secured a 1-0 victory over a strong White Clay team to advance to the winner's bracket final for a third straight year. From there, the boys tried to stay warm under some adverse October conditions and met a physically-superior Horsham team next. With a late goal on an outstanding left side cross, the Lazers once again had earner a birth in their division's championship game, three years running - and had made an incredible 10th straight tournament final!! Unfortunately, the cold and the dominate size of the U12 teams they had been playing, finally caught up with the Lazers late on Sunday afternoon and they were defeated under ominous skies by the same Horsham team they had just defeated a few hours earlier. It was a great weekend of competition for the boys that will no doubt better prepare them for the second half of their Delco season and the tournaments still to come! Check out the boys with their newest piece of hardware (inside of the cardboard boxes)!!!

Gettysburg Battlefield Blast

August 26, 2012

With the school year just around the corner, the U11 Premier Lazers headed to Gettysburg for the 3rd straight year. With an early morning "mini-game" against a formidable Penn Legacy Black team, the boys got off to an impressive start. Following that up with two (2) more "mini-game" wins, the Lazers qualified for Division 1 as the #2 overall seed. From there, the boys defeated a tough LDC Stormrunners team to setup another battle with Carroll Manor on Sunday morning. With a good bit of relaxation on Saturday night at the team hotel, the boys placed an exceptional game in the semifinals scoring the go ahead goal with seconds to go in the game, catapulting them into yet another tournament final. In the final, with threatening skies, the Lazers fought hard against a premier level team from central PA. The 2012 season is off to a great start as the boys prepare for their Delco League season opener! Check out a pic of the boys with their well-earned hardware below!!!

Hershey Cup

August 19, 2012

The Lazers began their U11 campaign by taking a trip to the World of Chocolate! After a strong 8am start with an 8-2 victory, the Lazers were rude guests by gaining win #2 of the season against the hosts. After a Saturday afternoon of relaxation, the Lazers headed back to Hershey on Sunday morning with a chance to earn an early season championship to add to the mantel. With another strong effort in the early game, the boys fought hard in their 4th game of the weekend to earn a 3-1 victory and complete a perfect 4-0 weekend. With 12 pts, the U11 Premier Lazers finished at the top of the table to become the 2012 Hershey Cup U11 Champions! What a start to what looks to be another great season. Now, off to Gettysburg!!!

Chesapeake Cup

April 7, 2012

With the end of an amazingly successful U10 campaign on the horizon, the Lazers headed to the Chesapeake Cup to defend their 2011 U9 Championship. With an early morning start against a strong KSC team, the boys shook off the rust and scored a 2-0 victory. After a well earned trip to DD :) .... the boys took control early against another new opponent, FC Frederick, and cruised to a 1st place division finish and yet another championship game appearance. In the final, facing off against a Fruitland team in familiar colors, the boys fought hard and prevailed 3-2 in cool and very windy conditions. The end of the U10 campaign was upon us with a final piece of hardware - our 8th in 8 opportunities!!! Check out the Lazers with their "packaged" hardware as they look forward to the start of our U11 campaign in 2012-13!!!

CMSA Night of Champions

December 9, 2011

The Lazers celebrated the culmination of another fine soccer season as they earned their third consecutive trip to the CMSA Blast Night of Champions. The U10 Lazers Premier had a lot to celebrate and be thankful for after completing one of the finest individual team seasons in Lazers' history. Their 34-3-4 record in the fall 2011 campaign is a mark that will forever represent the hard work this team put into preparing for the season. The boys all played excellent "team soccer" on their way to capturing the CMSA U10 A Sunday crown in addition to three tournament championships at Gettysburg, Parkville and The EASL; two tournament runner up finishes at Dillsburg and Hempfield; and an undefeated 7-0-1 record in the CMSA U11 B Saturday league playing a year up in age. The season had many memorable victories but our Sunday league championship will forever be the highlight of 2011. The boys and their families enjoyed the night out at the Blast game and posed for a final team photo with their medals from league play. We all look forward to our end of the year party and preparation for the 2012 season!!

Hempfield Fall Classic

November 20, 2011

Embarking on their last road trip of the season, the LSC U10 Premier Lazers headed up to the Lancaster area for the 2011 Hempfield Fall Classic. Under sunny skies on Saturday, the Lazers jumped out early in both games and doubled up with two (2) 2-0 victories! After "balding" the coaches on Saturday night, making good on a Sunday league championship promise, the boys headed back out to finish off a perfect preliminary round by a score of 4-0, advancing to their 5th (out of 5!) tournament championship game of the Fall 2011 season. Battling a very "pitchy" pitch and a solid team from the Philly area, the Lazers started out uncharacteristically slow, but fought to the very last minute coming up just short of the victory. An amazing season came to a close with yet another piece of hardware for the shelf! Another Blast Night of Champions awaits the Lazers in a few weeks and one last night to celebrate the amazing achievements of this group of boys!!!

CMSA Fall Sunday League

November 17, 2011

When the 2011 season dawned, the U10 Premier Lazers set lofty goals for themselves. In a hurricane and then in the warmth of summer, the boys came away with two early season tournament championships as they prepared themselves for their toughest competition to date - the CMSA U10A Sunday League - a league that contains all of the heavyweights from the Baltimore region, including some long time foes and some teams that we've never had much success against. An opening week victory over LTSC, a team which we had never beaten, boosted the confidence of the boys right out of the gate and by mid-season the Lazers were still undefeated in league play. An epic night time clash with our longtime rivals PHWM ended in a late victory and "Morfed" us into a legitimate title contender, only to drop our first league game a few days later. With the championship still in our sights and in our control, two tough foes remained on the schedule. After a hard fought draw against the Baltimore Bays Colts, weather became our opponent as our final league game against Carroll Manor was postponed twice before finally occurring under the lights on a neutral field with the title on the line. With all of the other teams in the league finished and waiting for this result, the U10 Premier Lazers took the field against Carroll Manor - a fitting end to the schedule two-plus months after our first battle in the finals at Gettysburg. After an early own-goal gave Carroll Manor the lead, the Lazers tied it up before half in the blistering wind and cold of a mid-November Thursday night. Then, with about fifteen minutes to play and a free kick about twenty-five yards out, the Lazers used their often practiced but seldom used mis-direction play to bury a go-ahead goal which turned out to be not only the game-winner but the title-winning goal as well! As the seconds ticked down, the boys sensed the accomplishment and when the final whistle blew, the Lazers celebrated an unbelievable accomplishment - the CMSA U10A Sunday League Championship. What a season it has been....and there's one more tournament to go!

EASL Open Tournament

November 13, 2011

The U10 Premier Lazers headed to Eastern Regional Park in an attempt to secure a tournament victory that was snatched from them two (2) years ago during the U8 season. In the cold on Saturday morning, the boys played well to get off to a quick start. Their legs then became weary in preliminary game #2 that afternoon (the Lazers' third game of the day after a quick CMSA make-up game) but the boys held steady and beat the Alliance Soccer Club out of Frederick! More cold met the boys on Sunday morning as they stepped on the field for preliminary game #3 and charged to a resounding win. With three (3) shutout victories in the preliminary round, the Lazers secured 1st place in their group and headed on to the semifinals. After a slow start, the Lazers kicked it into gear midway through the first half and finished strong in preparation for the championship game. Overlea awaited the Lazers after winning their group, but the boys were hitting their stride and finished off the local competition for their 3rd tournament championship of the season! On top of that, a 5-game clean sheet showed that defense really does win championships!!!

CMSA Fall Saturday League

November 12, 2011

In between EASL Open preliminary round games, the LSC U10 Premier boys took to a familiar field in an attempt to secure a third straight undefeated Saturday league season. With a key injury early on, the boys fought valiantly to secure a 2-0 victory to finish tied for 1st place with a 7-0-1 record. The result concluded another unbelievably successful Saturday league campaign against older competition with a well earned trip to the Night of Champions once again.

Dillsburg Dual Shootout

October 9, 2011

The LSC U10 Premier's defense of their 2009 Dillsburg Dual Shootout U9 Championship started out with back-to-back wins to start the preliminary round. A scoreless tie completed the session putting the Lazers at 2-0-1 and in a 3-way tie for 6th in Division I of U10. After "luckily" losing both coin flips, the Lazers began their march for a repeat championship seeded 8th. A matchup with the #1 overall seed awaited and Lazers struck early and then held on for a 1-0 victory and a berth in the winner's bracket semifinal on Sunday morning. With Hurricane Irene dashing the team's "pool party" plans in Gettysburg, Dillsburg didn't disappoint as the boys and their families enjoyed some well earned R&R at the hotel. As Sunday morning dawned, the Lazers started the morning with a dominating performance against the #4 seed to advance to the winner's bracket final to face a familiar Dillsburg foe. With a late goal, the Lazers earned a hard fought 1-0 victory and a berth in the Division I championship game. With some additional rest, the Lazers engaged the same familiar foe in a classic battle and after letting an early lead slip away the boys tied the game up late to force the Division I Championship Game into a Dillsburg Shootout! After a valiant effort from the boys, the shootout ended in defeat to a very talented team, but the boys left Century Lane Park with more D-I hardware! Back to the CMSA grind with two more tournaments on the horizon!!!

Parkville United Labor Day Tournament

September 4, 2011

With their 2nd trip to the Parkville United Labor Day Tournament, the U10 Premier Lazers won their 2nd straight tournament to open the 2011 Fall season. The victory was also their 3rd straight tournament win overall and their 4th in their past 5 tournaments - a huge accomplishment! Saturday's preliminary round games featured hat tricks by 2 different players as well as someone's 100th goal!!! There was great team play shown throughout the weekend as the boys worked the ball amazingly well, even in the exceptionally tall grass! Sunday dawned with the Lazers 3rd preliminary round game which they finished off to complete an unblemished 3-0-0 record with 3 shutouts. This great play earned them a berth in the championship game against Towsontowne. This championship game started out as a back and forth affair before the Lazers found the net a couple of times before halftime. After an early scare to start the second half the Lazers pressure was just a bit too much for their opponent and the boys celebrated a 4-1 victory in the end. The photo below shows the boys with their "2011 Champions" medals and the U10 Boys Gold scoreboard. We're now only 2 weeks away from the "real" start of the season.....

Gettysburg Battlefield Blast

August 27, 2011

Along with Hurricane Irene, the U10 Premier Lazers headed off to Gettysburg this weekend for their first games of the year. With the looming weather, the tournament organizers set the divisions before play even began and condensed the tournament to a single day event. In traditional Lazer fashion, the boys got off to a slow start in their 8:30am game but triumphed in the final minute, they then turned up the pressure as the morning progressed. After the preliminary round finished, the boys were an almost perfect 3-0-0 with their only blemish being a single goal against. This tremendous effort earned the boys the #2 seed in their division and a berth in the semifinal game. With 2 scores in the first 3 minutes of the semifinal game, the Lazers made sure their championship game berth was never in doubt. With Irene right on Gettysburg's doorstep, the boys then took the field, after a well earned break, in the Championship game against #1 seeded Carroll Manor. In a very wet and very hard fought final game, the U10 Premier Lazers triumphed 3-1 to add a Gettysburg championship to their mantel!!! The photo below shows a wind-blown and saturated Lazers team with their well earned hardware! A great start to what everyone hopes will be yet another successful campaign!!!

Chesapeake Cup

April 23, 2011

To close out the U9 campaign and to try and knock off some rust before U10 tryouts begin, the Lazers reunited on Easter weekend at the Chesapeake Cup in Cecil County, MD. Dodging rain drops and mud puddles, the boys put forth an amazing amount of effort showing just how much they have grown as a team even though they haven't played a game in almost 3 months. After battling a strong DE team and those pesky goal posts to a 1-1 tie in their opening game, the Lazers hit their stride in the second game winning 5-0, advancing to the championship game by winning the 3rd tiebreaker over the DE team! In the championship game, the Lazers faced off against an experienced NJ-based team and even with an opening minute goal, the Lazers once again needed a last minute goal to secure a 4-3 victory and another tournament win!!! Check out the wet and muddy Lazers below as they show off their last U9 piece of hardware. Bring on U10 and the 2011-12 season!!

CMSA Night of Champions

December 18, 2010

For the second season in a row, the LSC Premier were able to celebrate a Saturday League Championship on the field before a Baltimore Blast game. Once again the boys enjoyed the pre-game Parade of Champions and saw the player introductions from close up. At halftime, the coaches gathered the boys for one last congratulatory huddle and handed out the impressive championship hardware. Below is a pic of the LSC U9 Premier Lazers showing off their latest, and largest to date, trophies!

Hempfield Fall Classic / 2010 Fall Outdoor Season Wrap Up

November 21, 2010

The Hickory Lazers U9 Premier finished up their 2010 outdoor season by participating in the 25th Annual Hempfield Fall Classic, the largest soccer tournament on the east coast with over 560 teams. On the strength of their earlier tournament appearances at Gettysburg and Dillsburg, the Lazers were placed in the Premier flight against some of Pennsylvania's top club teams. The Lazers started out strong by beating HMMS United and PA Classics but ended up 2-1-0 in a difficult bracket. On Sunday, the boys came up one goal short of making their third consecutive tournament final in a closely contested 3-2 loss to the host club's top U9 team, Penn Legacy Black. Following the tournament, the boys participated in an educational humanitarian effort by signing our team's game ball and donating it to children in Haiti. The Lazers finished up the 2010 outdoor season at 25-7-3!! Their record includes a Division I Championship at Dillsburg, a Division I Runner-Up finish at Gettysburg and an undefeated CMSA U10B Saturday league title. The boys are looking forward to celebrating their CMSA championship at the Blast's Night of Champions in December!! It was another season to remember and once again, something special thanks to all of our great players and families!!

CMSA Fall Saturday League

November 6, 2010

UNDEFEATED LEAGUE CHAMPIONS...AGAIN!!! The LSC U9 Premier defeated Central Carroll 7-0 to capture their second straight CMSA Fall Saturday League Championship. The Lazers finished their 2010 season undefeated with a 6-0-1 record and have yet to lose in CMSA Saturday League play over the past 2 years. Check out the Lazers celebrating after the game!!!

Dillsburg Dual Shootout

October 10, 2010

Our second foray in Pennsylvania results in a championship and a shaved head!!! Even with a somewhat slow start on Saturday morning, the Lazers completed the preliminary round with a 2-1-0 record earning the #5 seed in Division I of a 16-team U9 group. The Saturday afternoon win over the #4 seed earned some well needed rest with a later Sunday morning start time. This first match on Sunday was a hard fought 2-1 victory over the #1 seed. After a very long layoff in the winner's bracket, the Lazers took the field in the afternoon against the #2 seed. This battle was 0-0 after regulation leading to the boys first Dillsburg Dual Shootout. With our first 3 boys burying their shots into the back of the net, our goalie sealed a victory after only 4 rounds! Another well deserved rest was earned as well as a spot in the Championship match. With the sun setting, the Lazers took the field once more against the #2 seed and this time was able to finish them off in regulation taking a 2-0 lead early in the second half and holding on for a 2-1 victory. To sweeten this victory and cap off an amazing 2 days for the boys, the clippers came out and the boys lessened the head coach's hair quite a bit! A great weekend was had by all. Now back to league play with another title (hopefully) on the horizon!

Gettysburg Battlefield Blast

August 29, 2010

Our first out of state tourney!!! Starting bright and early Saturday morning, the Lazers took the field against a well known foe and by lunch time they had completed a very successful opening round going 2-0-1 earning the #5 seed in Division I of an 18-team U9 group. Saturday afternoon found the boys digging deep to win their "quarterfinal" game against the #2 seed. This led to a huge pizza / pool party back at the team hotel in downtown Gettysburg. The Lazers made their presence known :) For our "semifinal" game we faced off against our old rival yet again and this time prevailed in a physically and mentally exhausting "Braveheart" OT game. This victory sent the Lazers to the Championship Game against the #1 overall seed and yet another tournament finals appearance. The photo below shows all of the fun had by the team off the field as well as the hardware earned by their amazing effort on the field. Another successful campaign appears to be on the horizon!!!

Bobby McAvan Training Camp

July 10, 2010

The 2009 CMSA Saturday League Champion U9 Lazers Premier kicked off their second month of practice for the 2010 season by participating, as a team, in a week long professional training camp with Bobby McAvan. The boys all enjoyed five days of individual and team instruction while battling 100+ degree heat! During a break, Bobby posed for the picture below with all of the boys. They're looking forward to kicking off the 2010 campaign at the LSC Scrimmage Fest in just a couple of weeks!!!
