November 3, 2010---The North Hagerstown JV Hubs closed the 2010 season with an impressive 51-22 victory over cross-town rival South Hagerstown on Wednesday evening at Mike Callas Stadium.

North playmaker Phillip Butler went off---to the tune of 327 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns to lead the JV Hubs. Butler's yards and TD's came in every way (136 rushing with two TD's, 77 receiving with two TD's, 83 INT yards with one TD, 31 kickoff return yards).

The JV Hubs had 390 yards of total offense with 305 coming on the ground. Kyle Hewlett led the ground game with 141 yards, while QB Matt Daley was 5-for-7 passing for 85 yards, with three TD tosses.

South kept the game close for 2½ quarters, but the JV Hubs had too many answers and scored the game's last three TD's to finish undefeated in Antietam Conference play at (6-0).

Linebacker Tyler Shindle put the nail in the coffin for South with a 54-yard interception return for a North touchdown. Mike Edwards led the defense with 14 tackles and three sacks, while Shindle added 11 tackles, two sacks, and the pick-six. Jorge Vera played another solid game with nine tackles and John Holland had seven tackles and a sack in the win.

Butler recorded some staggering and record breaking numbers for the 2010 campaign---including 25 touchdowns, 160 points scored, 1809 all-purpose yards, 896 rushing yards, 510 receiving yards, 5 INT's and two defensive TD's (one a game-winner as time expired).

Daley also had a standout season, just missing 1,000 passing yards. The sophomore signal caller finished with 956 yards and 12 TD passes.

Edwards was the 2010 defensive leader with 54 tackles and 10 sacks, while Shindle had 41 tackles and Reggie Daniel had 36 before being injured in week four.

The JV Hubs end the season at (7-1 overall, 6-0 conference).

Butler's heroics propel JV Hubs to incredible last second victory

October 2, 2010---The scoreboard showed a 24-24 tie with 7.7 seconds left and Smithsburg possessing the ball from the North 39-yard line. One last shot for Smithsburg to win the game.

The Leopards Zach Krall dropped back and threw the ball 20 yards downfield---right into the hands of the JV Hubs Phillip Butler. Most thought the interception would end the game as a tie. Butler had other ideas and returned the INT for an incredible 82-yard game-winning touchdown as time expired---giving the JV Hubs a thrilling 30-24 victory.

Smithsburg jumped on top with a four-yard run by Austin Scott at the 8:22 mark of the second quarter. North would answer less than two minutes later as Kyle Hewlett dashed 11 yards for a 6-6 tie.
