Lakeshore Thunder 14U Finishes Second at Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships (By Steave Phann)

July 9, 2018

Lady Thunder 14U takes second place at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships.  With unbeatable weather, Lakeshore hosted 10, 12 and 14U All Stars at Bodkin Park this past weekend.  Lake Shore Thunder did not disappoint.  Thunder showed up to play finishing 1-0-1 in Saturday pool play.  Once the dust settled from pool play, Thunder's path to a championship became clear for Sunday.  Thunder defeated HCYP Liberty to face Midway in the Championship Game.  In a close one from start to finish, Thunder quickly scored one run that was matched by Midway.  Midway went ahead late in the 6th to finish with a 2-1 victory.  Congratulations to Lady Thunder on a great weekend against a tough opponent.

In a hard fought season, the 10U Limenators coached by Mr. Mert Shulze wins the race for the pennant after wrapping up the regular season with a third place finish.  Upon entering the tournament as the 3rd seeded underdog, Limenators pulled off victory after victory which culminated in a championship title.  Limenators were undefeated during the playoffs going 3-0.  What an outstanding finish!

The Dirty Diamond Divas coached by Ms. Megan Dorr also battled hard to take the second place nod putting the finishing touches on a superb season.

8U BODKIN BASH RESULTS (Article by Steave Phann)

Your Lakeshore 8U Flames coached by Mr. Jeff Johnson takes the championship after a long grueling season of hard work, dedication and most of all "fun"!  The Flames dropped a couple games early in the season then settled in to an unprecedented "win streak" to close out the regular season.  They entered the playoffs on a high that never slowed down.  Going undefeated through the series, they pulled off back-to-back wins against the Fireballs to finish a fabulous season while taking the league championship.

The Fireballs coached by Mr. Joe Heilman also had a great run going 8-0 before dropping their first loss during the regular season.  They took the long path to the championship game after falling short in a nail biter against the Flames in the semi-finals losing 7-6.  Fireballs had two runners on with two outs when the Flames 3rd baseman made a dramatic line drive catch to end the game.  Fireballs valiantly fought their way back to the series final, but came up a little short in a championship thriller against the Flames.

Congratulations to all the strong young ladies on an 8U season to be remembered. This class of softball players were quite possibly some of the most competitive winners I've seen in recent history.  A Big Hearty Congratulations also goes out to the Lime Diamonds, Blue Lightning and the Thunder Bunnies.  Playoff standings in order for 8U are Flames, Fireballs, Thunder Bunnies, Lime Diamonds and Blue Lightning.
