2013 Takehome Test

Hi Everyone,

Let me start by wishing all of you and your families a safe and happy holiday season!!

It’s that time of year again to get our heads into the rule book and do the “Take Home Test”. PLEASE remember this is an open book test and we strongly suggest you get together in groups to answer the questions! We will be trying a new method this year by putting the test on line rather than US mail.

There is now a PDF file on the website in the members-only section that you should print out and use in your study groups or on your own. Keep in mind the new BALK rule this year that has not been published yet. The old fake to third and then to first is now a balk.

The actual test will be published in a few weeks and you will then have to log in the members only section and take the test by following the link. You will need to use your name and email address to start the test and that is how we will track the results. You will only be allowed to take the test ONCE so please print the PDF and go through the questions before taking the test.

The User name for the members only section is “mvuamember”. If you need the password email any of the Directors and they will help you.

Everyone will have to have this completed by 2/15/13.

Welcome to the MVUA

The MVUA provides quality patched, certified umpires to cities and towns of the Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

All MVUA umpires undergo a rigorous training program and are certified by the MBUA (Massachusetts Baseball Umpires Association).

MVUA members umpire games in Massachusetts and New Hampshire at all levels - College, American Legion, High School Varsity, Junior Varsity, Freshman, Middle School, Babe Ruth, AAU, and Little League.

To remain in good standing, all MVUA member umpires must pass an annual written rules exam and attend MVUA clinics on rules, issues, umpiring mechanics, and game conduct. All umpires are also evaluated both behind the plate and on the bases during a live game. This training and development program ensures the member umpires of the MVUA meet the highest standards of umpire professionalism.
