Important Information for all!

Dear Wolverine Family,

Today we have informed our league that after careful and long consideration that the Northern Catholic Wolverines are unable to field enough players to compete in the league for this upcoming season ( 2017).  We are informing all families on this date because we know that many families will wish to find different programs to  register their children in for the Fall Season. We have contacted North Hills youth football  and they would welcome ( without a late fee) any child from our program to play in their organization this season.  We will be happy to assist anyone who needs help to find a program in their area as well .

We have also reached out within our league to the Northern Catholic Ironmen  and they too will welcome those families wanting to continue within our league. We have not been in contact with the East End Crusaders but  know that the Coach Cullen will be of great help to all that are interested in playing in their program .

It is with great sadness that we inform you with this decision but  feel that we need to continue to do what is best for the children and for the families  that have long supported our program. Please let me know if in any way we can help you with finding a program for this Fall.

Sincerely,

David Tonery and Bill Elm

Our History

The Northern Catholic Wolverines were formed in 2013 by the Northside Catholic School and St. Teresa of Avila School Athletic Associations.  We have students from these schools as well as St. James of Sewickley, Assumption, St. Sebastian, St. Malachy and St. Benedict the Moor Schools.  We welcome all students who are enrolled in the Diocese of Pittsburgh Schools whose school does not have a football program.

On Sunday, October 26, 2014, the Varsity Wolverines won the Diocese of Pittsburgh Championship with a 46-26 win over St. Bart's.  On Sunday, October 25, 2015, the Varsity Wolverines complete an undefeated season by winning the Diocese of Pittsburgh Championship with a 22-20 overtime win over the Ironmen. This was the result of the hard work and dedication of our players, coaches and families.

Our Mission is to provide a fun football environment and to teach football in a better and safer way while stressing fundamentals, teamwork and good sportsmanship.  We welcome all parental participation and are always in need of volunteers to coach, work the concession stand and the "sticks" during game days.
