Who Is Responsible???
A cryptic message!
I'm really hoping that our school system hasn't failed them and that they merely ran out of foam!
Jills Score to Win Match with 00:00 on the Clock
The Oakwood Jills hosted the Bexley Lions Saturday morning at Oakwood's Lane Stadium for a non-league field hockey match. The first half was a see-saw battle back and forth with Bexley controlling most of the half, but unable to crack the Oakwood Defense as they racked up five shots and six Penalty Corners (versus Oakwood's 3 shots and 0 PCs) in the scoreless first half. As the turf and field heated in the sun, so did the Jills in the second half as they came out fired-up and ready to play! Senior Captains and Midfielders Hannah Grushon and Katie King flipped the first half stats as the offense got off 7 second half shots. The Oakwood Defense refused to yield as Junior Goalkeeper Sydney Hardern ended the match with eight saves and Senior Defenders Torrie Studebaker and Abby Wootton each saved a goal. The back and forth struggle came down to the final seconds when Bexley committed a defensive penalty in their scoring circle with 14 seconds remaining setting up a Penalty Corner that was executed after time expired. The Jills caught the Lions off-guard on a beautiful insertion from Senior Tess Henderson to Junior Midfielder Natalie Bramer, who perfectly sold the fake shot, instead, feeding the ball back to an open Henderson who smacked it home for the 1-0 win! Wow! What great Team Win!
In Junior Varsity play, the Jills played a shortened and short-sided (7v7) match against Bexley's depleted squad. The match was very even with the Jills edging the Lions with goals by Freshmen Forwards Delainey Crane and Lydia McCombe (with an assist by Sophomore Forward Allie Hall) in the 2-1 win. Freshman Goalkeeper Amelia Stroud had 10 saves in the match!
Oakwood Goes 2-1 in League Play with Win Over Indian Hill
The Jills traveled to Indian Hill HS in Cincinnati for a League Match Thursday. Senior Forward Tess Henderson put the Jills on the scoreboard midway through the first half on a Penalty Stroke. Senior Captain Hannah Grushon scored at the end of the first half to put the Jills up 2-0. In the second half, Junior Midfielder Natalie Bramer received a beautiful crossing pass from Junior Forward Jaelynn Nelson-Mays and slammed it into the boards to put the Jills up for good securing the 3-1 win.
In JV play, Freshmen Forward Delainey Crane put the Jills on the scoreboard right before halftime giving the Jills a 1-0 lead. In the second half, Freshman Lydia McCombe scored with an assist by Sophomore Ava Storost for the 2-0 win!
Oakwood 3, Lancaster 0
It was a cold and wet day as the Jills won their home opener over visiting Lancaster, 3-0. Senior Captain and Center Midfielder Katie King put the Jills on the scoreboard less than 8 minutes into the match on a beautiful initial shot during the team's first Penalty Corner. Senior Forward Tess Henderson added to the Jills' lead to make it 2-0 at the half. Despite the cold and wet conditions, the Jills controlled most of the match with Henderson clinching the match with her second goal of the match leaving the final at Oakwood 3, Lancaster 0. Up next for the Jills, we travel to Indian Hill on Thursday and host Bexley @ Lane Stadium on Saturday.
OHS 2 v. Fairmont 3
The Rivalry is on and the match sure lived up to it! The Jills got on the board first with a goal by Senior Forward Tess Henderson. Fairmont fought back hard and scored two goals to take a 2-1 halftime lead. The sun and heat tooks its toll on both teams in the second half. Fairmont extended their lead to 3-1 early in the second half, but the Jills fought back hard with Henderson finding the back of the cage again to bring the Jills to within one. The final minutes of the games had Oakwood pressing on offense and Fairmont on their heals, but key saves kept the Jills out of the cage as the clock expired with a 2-3 final. In JV League Game action, the JV Jills defeated Fairmont's JV squad 1-0.
UA 3 - Oakwood 0
The Jills lost a tough match at Blue Ash against the Ursuline Academy Lions Thursday evening. The Jill's held UA scoreless until the final minutes of the first half when the Lions found the back of the Oakwood cage. The Jills battled hard against the quick and excellent passing of the Lions but couldn't close the gap as the Jills lost the well played match 3-0. In JV play, the Jills lost to UA 4-0.

2018 Alumnae Scrimmage
What a great Saturday for Field Hockey as Oakwood's Field Hockey Alum hit the pitch at Lane Stadium against our 2018 Jills in our annual Alumni Game. Family fun was had by all. In true Oakwood Field Hockey Family tradition, we had six players and three generations playing from one family, as well as multiple pairs of sisters and aunts. The 2018 Jills edged the Alumni 4-2 in close match.
Thanks for everyone coming out to support our Jills!
