CARDINALS VS. STEELERS GAME 8
Cardinals- You are winners!
I have been thinking about this year. How it all came together was really something. I remember when we first started practicing. We did not know each other. People were quiet. Even the coaches had not been together. We were trying to figure out who was going to play each position. It came together pretty quick and we started to gel as a team. It seemed like our first game came quick. As the season went on, everyone started to know each other better and then soon no one was quiet! Maybe it was because of “Ask the dummy”. Coach Mark made it fun with the “Tug of War games and the Relay races”. I know the fact that everyone came to all the practices helped a lot! We really became a physical, well disciplined team that gave 100% effort. What I saw was a TEAM! Everyone pulled for each other. No one was jealous of anyone when they received some credit. No one blamed anyone when bad things happened. Everyone trusted each other and cared about their teammates. I saw you play hard and have fun when we were winning big, and I saw you pull together, and trust each other in close games. You are true competitors and great athletes. You have the RESPECT we talked about all year.
I am going to end with a quote! (I know you are all surprised)
“You know what a winner is? A winner is somebody who has given their BEST EFFORT, who has tried the HARDEST they possibly can, who has utilized every ounce of energy and strength within them to accomplish something.
It doesn’t mean that they accomplished it or failed, it means that they’ve GIVEN IT THEIR BEST!
THAT”S A WINNER!”
- Walter Payton
Each and everyone of you is a winner!
Lastly I want to thank you. Coaching to me is a great privilege, which I do not take for granted. I want to thank you for letting me be a part of your life and this team. The greatest compliment or respect anyone could give me is to call me Coach! I am proud to say that I was your Coach!
Remember for the rest of your life in everything you do have:
GREAT ATTITUDE --------- GREAT EFFORT--------------NO EXCUSES
Always - “PLAY LIKE CHAMPIONS”
Always - “Remember you are special!”
Always - “Remember YOU ARE A CARDINAL!
Cardinals- Thank you!
The coaches are extremely proud of you. We believed we were the best team in the league and yesterday you went out and LEFT NO DOUBT! Everyone did an outstanding job. You worked hard in practice and in the game. We really played as a team. Our tackling was outstanding, we swarmed to the ball and gang tackled! We dominated every phase of the football game!
Some things I want to say,
Brennan (The Tank)- You have improved a lot this year and really made a big difference on our D-Line. Teams had to double team you which is the ultimate compliment!
Sweet Lou- Another great game! You really developed as a receiver this year. You had another great catch against the Steelers! You’ve got great hands!
Mitch (Stealth Bomber)- You have really learned how to play your new position. You would pick up receivers to cover and always knew where to go. I would look up on a play and you would already be there. An example was covering that Steeler coming across the middle last night. Great job!
Austin (Mr. Nasty)- You made every snap for us this year and blocked extremely well. You handled the pressure of long snapping and blocking with ease. You developed into the best center in the league. Great job!
T-Bone- I asked you to play with intensity and leave no doubt who is the best. You played great as our OLB and hit hard. I saw you strip the ball in their backfield last night. Even though the ref’s did not call it I saw it. It was an awesome play. Great job!
Brody (Happy)- What was that noise? Oh just Brody laying another hit on someone! Your hits brought a smile to my face. No one hits harder in this league than you, and you do it with sportsmanship and class. You are a great football player!
Oliver (Hot Rod)- You are a force to be reckoned with on both sides of the ball. You an change the momentum of a game single handedly. Nice pick for a TD and great hit on the blitz! Great job!
TJ (The Hawk) I am so impressed with the way you played corner for us. You played it perfect and did not let anyone get outside. You also ran the ball great!! You are a great athlete.
Matt H (Razorback). I am so impressed with your work ethic. I would see you run at the end of practice by yourself. You worked hard to improve and I think you did. We don’t do anything without the O-line and your blocking was awesome! Great job and keep working hard!
Jameel (Wheels)- Another great job blocking on the line. You are a great team mate and athlete. I was really impressed with your run. You ran over 3 people to get in the end zone! Talk about Wheels! Great job!
Steve L (The Hitman)- You were so strong this year. You are Mr. Dependable. You are quiet and don’t say a lot then you go out and do a great job on both sides of the ball. I still remember your hit in the Seahawks game. You are a big hitter! Great job!
Dan L. The Freight Train)- You got better as the year went on! You dominated your opponent in every game. I enjoyed watching you pull and hit somebody and making several big defensive plays especially in the last 3 games! Awesome job!
Joe L. (The Claw)- Way to anchor the D-line this year! You made great plays on defense and made it hard for teams to run to your side. I did like seeing you run the ball yesterday! Great job!
Nick (The Bruiser)- You are the leader of the O-line! You play one of the most important positions where it takes brains and football smarts along with being physical. Watching you pull and crush someone makes me smile! As Line backer you play smart and fast and again hit hard! Great year!
Tyler (The Rookie)- You were amazing yesterday! I watch you zig zag through defenders turning a 2yard run into a 10-20 yard run. Watching you get into the end zone was awesome! You're not a rookie anymore! Great job this year!
Cody (The Punisher)- Congratulations on your touchdown! It was great to see you get in the end zone. I also enjoyed the Utah pass play. You not only had a great game but an awesome year. You run with authority and make opponents afraid to tackle you! Great year!
Zach B (The Big Z)- It was great to see your smiling face at practice and in our game! We missed you and it was awesome to see you in the Steeler backfield making the big hit for a loss!! The tackle got the whole team excited! Great job!
Fergie (The Ferginator)- You are an important member of this team! It says a lot about your character and the type of teammate you are to show up and support the team. We definitely miss you on the field. You showed a lot of class! Great job!
Chad (Shamrock)- Watching how you developed as a team leader, QB, and Linebacker really was fun to watch. Your confidence improved each game. Watching you run for yards on your 2 favorite plays (QB Wedge and 15 trap) and watching you throw to Sweet Lou, Ollie, or Jameel, You made my Irish eyes smile! Great job!
I will post something else, some final thoughts about the year this week. I just wanted to say this now!
Remember, “You are Special!” Why?
Because you are CARDINALS!
OUR WORK IS DONE ! (for awhile)
