Good day all.  They are looking to remove this site but I have renewed it one more time just for the memories.  Thanks to all who contributed to this site over the years.

Moving Forward

Good day all Phoenix fans.

While the club has moved on to combine with others and the coaches have moved on to other teams it is hard to kill the spirit of the club.  Most of the players have been part of an organization that has allowed them to gain in soccer skills along with the more important life skills.  Team work and friendship.  Lets not forget the fun of playing the game.

I would like to thank all involved in the Phoenix Soccer group.  I continue to miss it every day.

Hot and cold. - Only the Weather.

Over the past two weekends we have had 4 games. The weather may have changed from hot on 6/4 to chilly cold on 6/12 but the team has been red hot.

Results
Game 6/4 vs Wayne-Westland

Played 4v4 to match the number of players Wayne brought. We came out on top 4-0. Goals: 2 for Megan, and one each for Natalie and Emily C.

Game 6/11 vs Michigan Alliance FC

We came out on top again during this one sided game. 9-0 Goals: 3 for Shoshana, 2 for Megan, one each for Madison, Sierra, Bit, and Meredith.

Game 6/12 10am vs Northville Storm (Nat still sleeping?)

We again came out on top of a game that was thought to be our toughest competition. 6-0 Goals: 2 for Megan, one each for Natalie (awake and ready), Bit, and Maggie.

Game 6/12 2pm vs Wayne-Westland

After looking like a lean game as far as players on our team, we end up with 2 welcomed subs as the Phoenix HSG come out on top 7-2 Goals: 2 each for Emily G and Emily C, one each for Megan, Sierra & Britten.

One game left to go. GO PHOENIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Making Short order.

Playing hard the Phoenix HSG made short order of the Avalanche. Scoring enough goals to remove players. We enjoyed goals from Megan (3), Natalie (2) and one from Sierra. The team worked together to win under the watch fill eyes of their coach (pic above). Thanks everyone for a wonder full day of soccer in Bloomfield Hills. Happy Mothers day.

Starting Anew

April 30, 2011
A New year and a new season. Lots of water has caused many moved and missed practices and even moved games but the HSG were up to the challenge on Apr. 30th. They demonstrated they could get the job done scoring 4 goals one each for Madison, Shoshana, Meredith, and Emily G. We also enjoyed a good group of keepers that were up to the tasked when called upon. Everyone contributed to a fun first game on a nice and sunny day. GO PHOENIX.

Not too hot to handle - Midland Tournament

August 29, 2010
A very hot weekend overall. The team played hard and dominated their three wins but were tired and slow for single loss. The team showed depth with the Keepers doing a great job in the box, stopping multiple shots and holding us to 3 goals against us. They also did double duty on day two playing the field to help out when needed in the heat. Still room to improve on corner kicks. Almost every goal was assisted by some great work from the defense and midfield players. In the end the 93HSG wanted to win and they did. See the game reports for a brief description of the goals. Thank you all for a great weekend.

Why This Site refreshed?

August 18, 2010
If you found this site, you might wonder why it is here. Well, it's simple - this is a shadow site for the Phoenix High School Girls teams. It's purpose is to display the games that are happening on any given day, and provide scores and standings.

This is an UNOFFICIAL SITE.

The data comes from other sites, and all data is hand input to this site, so ---

THERE MAY BE MISTAKES ON THIS SITE (but, then again, maybe not.)

Find information about:

Schedules

from the tabs on the left.

The key to getting around in this site is the 'Division' theme - each group of games for each HSG team has its own division. Games from 2010-2011 are listed with a 'XI' prefix. Find this year's games in the respective division, and the details should be there.

This site should provide more flexibility in sorting teams/scores/schedules than other sites.

Use under these guidelines and it should be useful, and user friendly too.

Thanks

The 2009-2010 Season Draws to a Close

June 7, 2010
It seems like only yesterday that we began playing on the Club's new Field of Dreams for the first time! Those first games were exciting, and the games were interesting, especially in the 'sand box' that characterized the middle of the 11v11 field for a while. But the players were pleased that we had a game facility that was also our practice venue, and the trips to Fenton became automatic for some.

With the winter season going indoors, the Elite team geared up for their showcases on each coast, and the indoor training and game season was in full swing soon. Meanwhile, the Field of Dreams was undergoing a transformation that promises to make it a showcase of its own.

The spring saw many of the girls join their High School teams, and a full team of ladies stayed with the club to take advantage of the spring program. With a development league available, some played outdoors against other HS girls, and the Navy team went to Ohio to compete (and become Finalists) in the tournament there. The Field of Dreams was used in a limited fashion due to the wet weather and newness of the new fields.

Now, the season comes to a close with the confluence of Tryouts, the World Cup, and some of the girls still playing for their respective high schools in the High School State Championships. Needless to say, all three share the same importance to many!

Thank Phoenix!, for a great year!

HS White Team Enjoying Success

May 16, 2010
With only 3 games left to play, the girls on the HS White team are learning to cope with several aspects of the game and doing so quite successfully.

First, there's the game aspects - playing with 6 on a side on an 8v8 field is actually a challenge, and the style of the Phoenix play comes out well in this format. The girls have balanced the need for individual skills with a nice passing game, and the results have been enjoyable to watch. The ball carrier usually has 2 or 3 options as the teammates sprint to open space, or set up for wall passes, or make predictable runs for slotted passes.

In the photo at the left, Sarah S shows some good defensive positioning against a Plymouth player as Emily waits near mid field for the clearing pass.

Next, there's the aspects of handling success. The team has not had very significant opposition due to the nature of the league and the fact that most girls in their age group are playing for their high schools. As with most sports, respecting your opponent is still a necessary part of the game that sometimes becomes a challenge when the game is 'easy.'

Finally, there are the aspects of handling the team's administration and paperwork. While the Phoenix Office is great on this point, the parents that have these duties for this spring are learning the ropes, and have made one mistake that cost the team a forfeit.

All are invited to joint the HS White at any one of their remaining games. Look at the schedule for the details.

Phoenix HS Navy Earn Finalist at BG Tournament

May 3, 2010
The Phoenix HS G Navy Team played 4 games over the weekend at the Bowling Green University Soccer Tournament, and finished as the 'Finalist' for their division. Their record was 3 - 1 - 0, with the only loss going to the 1st place team.

The weather cooperated all weekend - the game fields were wet and slippery, but any rain happened before or after the games.

A quick recap :

Game 1 - vs the Greater Toledo Soccer Club - won 8 to 1
Game 2 - vs the Rockers - lost 2 - 0
Game 3 - vs the Blast - won 4 - 0
Game 4 - vs the Valentis Athletica (Tournament Host) - won 5 - 0.

(More details in the Game Results section.)

In the photo above, the team (Angel is not pictured) gathers after the 4th game in a memorable shot - the graduating seniors, Anna and Tina in front, will be moving on soon, and they will be missed!

Outdoor Soccer Starts Up Again!

April 6, 2010
It's been quite warm the past few days, and the weather has cooperated some to allow the girls to get outside and finally play soccer on grass once again!

The spring season for the ladies is being planned, and there are games scheduled in the WSSL spring 8v8 league, as well as the first tournament for the 'tournament' team.

Look for updates in the schedules here, but the e-mails from the managers and Hank are the official word.

Congratulations to all those that are playing High School - don't forget to attend a game or two to cheer on your fall teammates!

And congratulations are in order for those that stayed with the Phoenix this spring - the challenges are still going to be great, and the opportunities are not going to diminish.

Spring Season Finally is Here!

March 15, 2010
It's been a quiet winter in Fenton, to coin a phrase, but the winter season has officially ended with today's start of High School tryouts.

While a lot of the Phoenix ladies are off to try their skills with their high school classmates, there are quite a few that have stayed with the Phoenix Program.

Both groups will be challenged this spring, and we wish them all the best.

This site will track the tournaments and any league play of the Phoenix girls as they work and play this spring.
