News

Welcome to the Rochester NABA 18+ Division

Hello, welcome to the Rochester NABA 18+ Divsion.  We are currently comprised of 16 teams (2014), located throughout Monroe County and the surrounding counties.  We play 20 games a season, not incoluding playoffs.  Opening day is the weekend before Memorial Day and we wrap the championship game up the third weekend of August.  The cost to enter a team is $3,150, so generally without sponsorship the average cost per player is between $200-$250 depending on how players each team decides to keep.  We play primarily on Sundays, though we do play some week night games now.  Please keep our schedule of play and the money obligation in consideration if you are a free-agent and looking to join a team.  We do offer a free-agent "draft" which is generally held between the final weekend of March and the first weekend of April every year.  If you have any further questions, please let us know.  Thank you.

Championship series is set

In a rematch of the 2013 championship series, the Sharks look to defend their crown against the Warriors. Games 1 & 2 will be held Sunday August 17 starting at 1 pm at Bachman Park off Atlantic Ave. Game 3, if necessary, will be held Monday August 18 starting at 7 pm at Bachman Park off Atlantic Ave. Everyone is encouraged to come out and support the league.

2014 Season Summary

Thank you to everyone that participated this season with the 18+ NABA.  We had another successful season behind sixteen well run teams, which I always appreciate.  I know the weather was not always cooperative but for the most part we were able to get all of our games in and that is always an accomplishment living in WNY and dealing with our sporadic weather.

The season culminated with the all-star game last night at Frontier Field.  Thank you to the fans and parents that came out last night to support the players and the league.  Next year I hope to see more of you out there.

Good luck to the 8 teams that made the playoffs this year.  First round with the American League will be held at Nietopski field in Brockport and the first round with the National League will be held at RH Varsity Field at Roth Middle School in Henrietta.  As always, those games are free for anyone to attend, so please come out and watch.

Thank you again and I hope you all come back to play more baseball next year!

2014 18+ All-Star Game

The 2014 18+ All-Star Game will be held at Frontier Field on July 23th, game time is 7 p.m.  All participants are required to arrive at least a half hour ahead of time (if you are late, the manager is not required to play you).

Participants will be chosen by their respective teams and the quantity of representatives will be dependent on the standings as of July 13th games.

Each team will be required to sell a portion of the Red Wings tickets and more information on that will follow for all managers.  The event is free to all parents and non=participating players.  All are encouraged to come.

Season Update at the Halfway Mark 2014

At the halfway mark here are some updates for everyone.  The All-Star game will be held on Wednesday July 23rd, 7 pm at Frontier Field.  Players that are playing in the game need to be present by 6 pm.  All-Star selections must be turned in by every team by Wed July 16th if they want to be represented.  The top team in each division will send three reps plus a player/manager.  That player/manager does have the choice to be just a manager and elect a fourth and separate player if he wishes to just coach and not play.  2nd will send 3 reps.  3rd and 4th will send 2 Reps each.  5-8th place will send 1 rep each.  That's a roster of 15, we trimmed the number down some to get those elected extra playing time.  There's also been a request that elected pitchers just be allowed to pitch, so email me privately your thoughts on that.  If that were the case, we will allow those pitchers to throw a min of 3 innings instead of a max of 2.

Playoffs are going to be single elimination in the first two rounds, National 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 on Saturday August 9 & American 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 on Saturday August 9.  Winners square off Sunday August 10.  Then the American League champion plays the National League champion in a best of three series the following weekend, Game 1 August 16th, Game 2 and 3 (if necessary) August 17th.
