WE ARE...ABINGTON TOWNSHIP'S JUNIOR AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL TEAM

Welcome to the website for the Roslyn Junior American Legion Baseball team. We are a summer league program for young men ages 14-15 that live in Abington Township, PA, in suburban Philadelphia. Our home field is Roslyn Park. The team competes in the highly competitive Bucks Country Junior American Legion League consisting of twelve teams from Bucks and Montgomery counties, including: Bensalem, Bristol, Falls, Fox Rok, Horsham, Huntington Valley, Langhorne, Lower Southampton, Newtown, Northampton, Roslyn, Somerton and Yardley Morrisville. Over the years our team has been comprised of the best and most dedicated ball players from Abington Township who have come to us from schools such as Abington, Bishop McDevitt, LaSalle, St. Joe's Prep, Roman Catholic, Chestnut Hill Academy, Germantown Academy and Archbishop Wood.

Over the past 5 years the Bucks County League has featured 3 state champions and one state runner-up, including the 2013 state champion, Newtown.

Tryouts and practices for the team begin in April, with games starting in May and lasting through mid to late July. Our schedule typically includes 24 league games (not including playoffs) and approximately 4-6 non-league games and tournaments. For additional league info please also visit the Bucks Country Junior Legion website at www.leaguelineup.com/bucksjrlegion .

American Legion Baseball

American Legion Baseball is a national institution, having thrived through a world war, several national tragedies, and times of great prosperity as well as great despair.

The league still stands atop the traditional values upon which it was founded nearly 85 years ago. Since 1925, American Legion Baseball has taught hundreds of thousands of young Americans the importance of sportsmanship, good health and active citizenship. The program is also a promoter of equality, making teammates out of wealthy bankers’ and industrial workers’ sons, and erasing any social divide between them. Most importantly, American Legion Baseball has been, and continues to be, a stepping stone to manhood for millions of young men who have gone on to raise families or play the sport at the highest level.

American Legion Baseball enjoys a reputation as one of the most successful and tradition-rich amateur athletic leagues. Today, the program registers over 5,400 teams in all 50 states, including Canada and Puerto Rico. Almost 100,000 youths, ages 13 to 19, participate annually. Since its inception, the league has had 10 million players, and nearly 75 percent of current college players are program graduates.
