SKS CYO Baseball

News

The SKS CYO Baseball program is available to SKS Students and eligible parishioners in grades 3rd through 8th.

There will be 3 separate teams this year: A Varsity team (7th and 8th graders), a JV team (5th and 6th graders) and a 3rd and 4th grade team.

Varsity:
The Varsity team plays on a field with 90’ bases and a 60’ pitching mound. Under David Heacock’s leadership, the program has seen solid success winning the Region 32 Championship in 2012 and making it to the finals in 2013.

The Varsity team practices two times per week (Tuesday and Thursday) at North Wayne Field on N. Wayne Ave. Practices start at 3:30 PM. Games are typically on Saturday mornings at 9 AM. The season starts in mid to late March (weather permitting).

JV:
The JV team consists of 5th and 6th graders and plays on a field with 60’ bases and a 45’ pitching mound. Practices for JV will also be at 3:30, twice per week (Tuesday and Thursday),  and will take place at one of the township baseball fields. Games will take place during the week and possibly during the weekends as well.

Players will acquire their own uniforms through Wayne Sporting Goods (the CYO program will assist in arranging for this).

For both JV and Varsity, players are permitted to play on other baseball teams (i.e. Township teams, school teams, travel teams, etc...)

3rd and 4th grade Team:
There has been a 3rd and 4th grade team added to the program for each of the past few years. This team is a more relaxed program. There are a couple of practices early in the season and then there are just primarily games throughout the season. Games have taken place on Sunday afternoons.
