HISTORY
R & R
Neither of them reached six feet or 180 pounds. But Pee Wee Reese and Phil Rizzuto cast a giant shadow across New York - and Major League Baseball - throughout the 1940s and well into the 1950s, patrolling shortstop and leading the Dodgers and Yankees to a combined sixteen World Series, including six against each other. For most of their careers, it was Rizzuto who was left grinning, as the Yanks defeated the Bums in 1941, 1947, 1949, 1952, and 1953. In 1955, their last head-to-head confrontation, Reese finally got his chance to smile, as Brooklyn won its only championship.
