Vandals Win On The Bat of Struttin' Strutton
After a 20 minute delay to the start of the game due to a sprinkler issue, the Vandals got on the board quick when with two out, Johnny Harr went deep for the first time this year giving the Vandals the early 1-0.
Vandals extended their lead in the 2nd when Pete Perez drove home Randy Strutton and then Todd Wells drove in Neil O'Connor and before we knew it, the lead was 3-0. The Greens would score two in the bottom half to bring the score to 3-2.
In the top of the 3rd, the Vandals tacked on four runs with the Greens scoring one in the bottom half to bring the score to 7-3.
The Vandals broke the game open in the top of the 4th. With the bases loaded, Jason Cole was hit by a pitching driving in a run. Then Randy Strutton Kirk Gibson'd a ball into deep left field. The bat hit the top of the fence at Apple Valley High School JV's field fell on the other side for the grand slam. They finished the inning with five runs bringing the game to 12-3.
Pete Perez added a 2 RBI double in 6th to round out the scoring for the Vandals. The final score was 15-4.
Johnny Harr pitched six strong innings, striking out 6, 4 hits, no walks but he did hit a batter.
Randy Strutton finished the day 4-4 (raising his season average to .538) and he drove in six runs.
