Meet Results 2015-11-14: 4A State Championship

Congratulations to Wootton XC and their performances at the state meet!  Although it was a little windy and chilly, it was still a beautiful day for a race, and, as expected, it was extremely competitive.  Wootton represented very well and brought home some hardware.
 
Congratulations to Colin Sybing (9th), Cliff Tilley (17th), and Grace Dellapa (11th) who all earned medals for their outstanding performances!  The boys team finished a very strong 5th overall with Colin, Cliff, Jacob Rushkoff, Omar Nunez, Ben Shapiro, Sam Blackman, and John Riker giving their all for the Patriots. In addition, a huge congratulations to freshman Maddie Grainger for finishing incredibly well (34th place out of 151!) against the best in Maryland.
 
 
Great job everyone!  It was absolutely a memorable season.

Meet Results 2015-11-05: 4A West Regional Championship

Congratulations to the boys and girls cross country teams on their great performances at the regional meet!
 
The Boys team WON the 4A west region in a very tough fought battle. No one gave up! Congrats to Jacob Rushkoff, Colin SyBing, Cliff Tilley, John Riker, Ben Shapiro, Sam Blackman, and Omar Nunez for fighting for every spot. The boys, as a team, will now be advancing to the Maryland State Meet on Nov 14 at Hereford.
 
On the girls side, the lady Patriots fought hard and gave it all they had. Although we don't have a full team advancing, Grace Dellapa and Maddie Grainger will be representing the Wootton girls at the state meet next Saturday! Excellent job.
 
 

THANK YOU to all of you who came to support the team. As usual, we absolutely won in the amount of supporters we had cheering for the team.



Meet Results 2015-10-26: County Championships

 County Championship MeetWow, what an afternoon!  Wootton excelled at the County Championships with great success in all races!  We also most definitely won in the cheering department. Thanks to all the supporters!  Congratulations to everyone. There were a number of lifetime pr's due to all the hard work, competitiveness, and risk taking.  It was a great day.  Here are team results:
 
Girls Grades 9/10 race :  2nd overall
Boys Grades 9/10 race:  1st overall
Girls Grades 11/12 race:  2nd overall

Girls Varsity:  7th overall

We are so proud of all of you, but we aren't done yet.  We hope even those who don't continue racing in the post season will come support the team at the regional and state meets.  We are a team and everyone contributes!

Meet Results 2015-10-14: Coyote Run

Congratulations to all those athletes who raced at Coyote Run.  It was a great day for the Wootton Patriots XC team, with 61 of our athletes earning either lifetime or season PR's!!  We are so proud of everyone's toughness and competitiveness.  Great work!
 
Lead by Collin Sybing who ran a gutsy race, the Boy's varsity team cruised to a victory in the 13 team field with all 7 of our varsity runners earning medals for finishing in the top 15 (Sybing, Cliff Tilley, Jacob Rushkoff, John Riker, Ben Shapiro, Sam Blackman, and Omar Nunez)!  On the JV boys side, they also crushed.  Wootton's own Troy Davis won the race and Wootton grabbed 8 of the top 10 spots.  Wow!
 
On the girls side, lead by Grace Dellapa finishing 3rd, the varsity team finished 3rd overall with 4 of our athletes finishing in the top 20 (Dellapa, Gwen Klein, Maddie Grainger, and Adna Trakic).  The JV girls were incredibly competitive as well taking 7 of the top 15 spots and were only 1 point away from the win (every place counts!)! 
 
Great job everyone!
 
And for the best news..... This course was actually 3.2 miles long!

Meet Results 2015-09-29: Paint Branch at Wootton

Both the girls team and the boys team defeated Paint Branch, ending the season undefeated.  Congratulations, Division 2 Champs!

Meet Results 2015-09-26: DCXC Invitational

What a great day for Wootton XC at the DCXC Invitational!  We had great team and individual performances, with 30 of our athletes earning a PR (personal record)!  This meet awarded medals to the top 25 finishers in each gender/class race and awarded trophies to the top 3 gender/class teams and top 3 overall gender teams.

Congratulations to the following athletes for earning medals in their races:
Adna Trakic - 12th freshman girls race
Maddie Grainger - 15th freshman girls race
John Riker - 4th freshman boys race
Joe Pohoryles - 16th freshman boys race
Sarah Shapiro- 19th junior girls race
Ben Shapiro - 13th junior boys race
Grace Dellapa - 7th senior girls race
Colin SyBing - 9th senior boys race
Cliff Tilley - 13th senior boys race
Jacob Rushkoff - 24th senior boys race

On the team front, our freshman and senior boys both brought home some hardware, earning 3rd and 2nd place trophies respectively.  After all the class scores were added up, the Wootton boys team finished 2nd overall (only behind a team from Louisville, KY!) and have a HUGE trophy to prove it!

Congratulations to all who competed. It was a good day and showed very nice progress as we get into the more competitive part of our season. Thank you to all the parents and fans who showed up to support the Wootton Patriots. As usual, we had one of the biggest cheering sections!


Meet Results 2015-09-15: Sherwood, Northwest and Poolesville

A huge congratulations to the Wootton XC teams!  It was a very successful day Tuesday as the boys and girls teams stayed undefeated in our division!  Wootton varsity teams beat Sherwood, Poolesville (again), and Northwest to give us a 4-0 record in our division!  If the teams beat Paint Branch on Sept. 29 (home meet!), Wootton will be Division 2 winners and take home 2 trophies.
 
The girls varsity race was lead by Grace Dellapa, Sarah Shaprio, Gwen Klein, Adna Trakic, Hannah Boyd, Maddie Grainger, and Jacqueline Deprey.  The boys varsity scorers were Colin Sybing, Cliff Tilley, Jacob Rushkoff, John Riker, Ben Shaprio, Omar Nunez, and Troy Davis.  
 
Also a huge shout out the boys JV who also shined and had perfect scores against Sherwood and Poolesville. The boys JV race was lead by Matthew Klein and Jake Smith.  
 
 
Great job everyone!

Meet Results 2015-09-12: Track and Trail Invitational

Congratulations to the boys and girls team on their performance at the Track and Trail Invitational! The boys team took 1st place and the girls team finished 4th (just 2 points out of 3rd)! Fantastic!

Top 25 individuals earned a medal in each varsity race and Wootton brought home 10 of those medals. Congratulations to the following girls: Grace Dellapa (2nd over all), Adna Trakic, Maddie Grainger all who placed! And to the boys who finished in the top 25: Colin SyBing (2nd overall), Cliff Tilley, John Riker (first freshman in), Sam Blackman, Ben Shapiro, Troy Davis, and Omar Nunez.

Meet Results 2015-09-08: Poolesville and Quince Orchard

Thank you to all our spectators for coming out to support the team! The coaches are impressed and thankful for the Wootton presence at all of our events.  It really is amazing how supportive our community is.
 
A huge congrats to BOTH the boys and the girls teams for starting off the season with 2 wins!  Both teams beat QO and Poolesville to kick off our official season.  This is a really great start, even with the heat and slightly unconventional course.  Top finishers for the boys were Colin Sybing, Cliff Tilley, Jacob Ruhkoff, John Riker, Ben Shapiro, Sam Blackman, and Omar Nunez.  Top for the girls were Grace Dellapa, Jessica Trzeciak, Adna Trakic, Gwen Klein, Jacqueline Deprey, Madeline Grainger, and Hannah Boyd. Great work, everyone! You all showed great effort and toughness on a very hot day!

Patriots in the All-Maryland Preseason Poll

Congratulations to Grace Dellapa and Colin SyBing who were picked for the All-Maryland Preseason poll.  Grace and Colin will be acknowledged at the 2nd Annual All RunWashington Pep Rally on Sunday, August 16 at T.C. The tentative meet schedule for 2015 is below.  Everyone will race in each meet, except where noted.

  • Sept. 8 (Tues) 3:30 @ Poolesville vs. Quince Orchard and Poolesville (bus to/from provided)
  • Sept. 12 (Sat) MD Track n Trail Invitational @ Elkton, Md (Varsity only, carpool)
  • Sept. 15 (Tues) 3:30 @ Sherwood vs. Northwest, Poolesville and Sherwood (bus to/from provided)
  • Sept. 26 (Sat) DCXC Invite (http://www.dcxcproject.com/dcxc-invite/). Approximately 56 kids will participate. Bus provided to/from meet.
  • Sept. 29 (Tues) 3:30 @ Wootton vs. Paint Branch (home meet)
  • Oct. 15 (Thurs) Coyote Run @ High Point Farm in Clarksburg (bus to/from provided)
  • Oct. 24 (Sat) County Meet @ Gaithersburg HS (bus to/from provided)
