Rodney Ramsey is a native of Roanoke Rapids, NC where he played 4 years of varsity high school basketball. In his senior year he was ranked in the top 100 players in the state of North Carolina. He was recruited by several colleges throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. He accepted an athletic scholarship to Mount Olive College in Mt Olive, NC.

Rodney retired from the U.S. Army after serving over 20 years. Throughout his 20 years he has coach at the high school, army installation, army unit, and youth sports levels. As a coach he has been very successful winning at these levels. Many of his players have gone on to make their high school teams and received college scholarships.

Rodney joined the MYBA family as a head coach in 2006. Within his three years his team has many accomplishments which include back to back Anne Arundel county winter league championships, placed 2nd in the YBOA state tournament, placed 2nd in the Maryland state AAU tournament and finished 16th in the AAU National tournament.

Rodney’s goal is to provide young players the foundation and fundamentals of basketball. To help ensure players are equipped with the skills to move onto the next level. The hard work, sacrifice and dedication which they learn to bring to the game of basketball will also apply to all areas of their life. Rodney’s goal with the Wildcats is to develop young men not just basketball players.
