South Beach Captures 6th Division Title
South Beach All-Stars finish the season at 8-2 and clinch their 6th Division Title in 35 seasons. This season SB fielded a team record 30 different players as GM Javi Rodriguez and Jared Tacher had their hands full each week deciding who to call up when the All-Stars were short handed. They obviously did a fantastic job, as South Beach was able to field a loaded line up each week.
Leading the way this year Mike Romano again destroyed opposing pitchers and hit an amazing .731 to go along with his team leading 20 hits and 15 runs. These numbers were enough for Romano to earn his 3rd MVP in past 4 seasons, and 4th MVP overall.

With the Division Crown, South Beach now sets their sights on the playoffs and seek their 2nd straight Playoff Championship. Things get started next week witht he 10:15am game. If they win, they will play for the championship at 11:30.
Season 36 Starts off With a Victory!

Congrats to the All-Stars!!!
For the 5th time in franchise history, the South Beach All-Stars are the playoff champions!! Despite being out some key franchise figures, GM Jared Tacher was able to put together the key ingredients for the winning recipe.
The All-Stars got by the 3 seed Gamblers Joy in Game 1. RJ Rodriguez provided the big 3 run HR to pave the way.
In the Finale though they had the surprise Warriors who upset the #1 seed JP Mulligans. SB has owned the Warriors all season long and this time things started off more of the same as SB would cruise to a big early lead.
However, The Warriors kept fighting and somehow were able to creep within 2 going into the last inning. SB was not able to close the door in the top of the 7th, and the warriors added on 4 more runs to take a huge 2 run lead heading to the final at bats. Instead of being demoralized by what had happened, the All-Stars proved why they are deserving champions.
Batting last and filling in at Catcher, Brian Feuer who had 3 singles all up the middle earlier, delivered a huge lead off tipple over the left fielder to get things rolling. Bryant Pitino would follow with the RBI and later score on Leo Cardoso RBI single to tie the game. This would set the stage for Kris Guasch. Guasch drilled a line drive 2 Run HR over the RCF fence for the dramatic championship clinching walk off HR. Guasch entered the game as just one of Jared Tacher's big call ups, but will leave the field as an all time South Beach Hero.
Not only did Tacher's excel with this front office signing, but he was also able to do it on the field as well going 6-8 with 3 triples on the day...
While this has been a very long and tiring season, and lots of players had to step up and contribute, Winning the championship makes it all worth it!!!.
The big question is will South Beach be back to defend the crown during the Spring season?? Stay here to find out all the breaking news with the franchise......
Spring Season Begins April 15th.... Season 36!!!
Regular Season Ends.. On to the playoffs!!
South Beach wraps up the regular season 7-4 and in 2nd place in the division. The team played a franchise high 30 players this season, and a special shout out must go to GM Jared Tacher and his assistant Javi Rodriguez for shuffling the lineups all season long and always fielding a stacked team.
Some standout performers this season:
- Mike Romano was insane this season and batted a crazy .846 (22-26) which set a new single season record for the franchise. His 22 hits are 8th best all time for a season as well.
- Calixto Garcia also had a great year at the plate. in 6 games he batted .783 (18-23) which is good for 3rd for best season ever.
- Danny Reyes and Bryant Patino both had 2 HR on the season, which ties for 9th best season ever.
- Reyes also lead the team with 14 RBI, with Kevin Pickard (11) and Dan Bruederlin (10) as the only others in double digits.
- Adam Goldman led the team with 6 walks, which was triple the amount of hits he had.. the 6 walks help his on base to a still horrible .320.
- Romano led the team in OB% with an outstanding .852 mark, which destroyed JJ Leonard's Fall 2012 and Lyle Shapiro Summer 2016 marks of .778. Garcia's mark of .792 will be good enough for 2nd all time now...
- Danny Reyes led the team with 27 total bases. 12 Singles, 2 Doubles, 1 Triple & 2 Home Runs
South Beach will now take on #3 Seed Gamblers Joy at 9am on Sunday February 18th. The winner will advance to the championship game at 11:30. The Gamblers stole 2 of 3 from South Beach during the season. 14-12 and 18-8 with South Beach winning the middle game 21-11.

South Beach Loses a Family Member
Thomas Francis O'Keefe, III (May 6, 1984 - July 4, 2015)
Our friend and teammate Tommy O'Keefe has lost his brave battle with Glioblastoma multiform, which is an aggressive malignant brain tumor. Tommy lost his battle on Saturday July 4th 2015. First diagnosed back in 2007, he was in remission for many years, however, the tumors came back in January and since then he’s been in and out of hospitals at least ten times. Tommy is survived by lovely wife Jessica, and their beautiful 10 month old baby daughter McKenzie.
Deputy O’Keefe was a third-generation law enforcement officer who followed in the career footsteps of his father and grandfather. He started working for BSO in 2003 at age 19. During his career, he served in the Tamarac, Deerfield Beach and Dania Beach districts. He also worked in multiple units in BSO’s Strategic Investigations Division.
Originally from South Florida, Jessica and Tommy both met when she was 15 and he was 16. He went to Western High School in Davie and she went to Flanagan in Pembroke Pines. They eventually moved to Coral Springs from Tamarac when they bought a single family home in 2011, the same year they were married. They welcomed their daughter Mckenzie in 2014.
In addition to his wife and child, Deputy O’Keefe is survived by his parents, retired Officer Thomas O’Keefe, Sr. and Mrs. Leslie O’Keefe, brothers Andy and Sean, Grandmother Evelyn White and in-laws Dave & Lynda Lasry
“He was a fighter,” Jessica O’Keefe said. “He fought this for so many years and never complained. He was very easygoing, very positive, and he loved his family.”
Tommy was a dedicated husband, caring father, loving son, and role model for his two younger brothers. He was an avid listener of rock music and had an insatiable sweet tooth. He was also an avid fan of the "Mountain Melt" from the Ale house where him and his teammates would go to celebrate a big victory. Tommy loved sports, especially baseball/softball and enjoyed going to Dolphins, Marlins and Heat games.
On the Softball side, Tommy joined the South Beach organization for the Spring of 2012 when he was acquired in the supplemental draft following the folding of the Media Men and Dirtbags teams. O'Keefe the lefty outfielder played for the All-Stars for 8 seasons and had a career batting ave of .545, which is good for 5th all-time. He also has added 1 HR, 6 doubles, 14 triples (good for 3rd all-time) and 63 RBI (good for 17th all time) to his resume.
Tommy was also a 2 time team MVP winning the award in the Summer 2012 and Fall of 2013. His last game for the team was on June 1st 2014 when he went 1-3 with a triple, 2 runs and 1 RBI. Even until the end, the team was always on his mind. He would text each week to see how the team was doing and tried many times to make it out to a game. Up until the final 2 weeks Tommy was saying he was ready to get back out there and play. Unfortunately he would never make it back to the field...
Tommy was a valuable player for the team on and off the field and was known for his sarcastic sense of humor and wit. He will be sadly missed, but not forgotten.
#4 in the program, #1 in our hearts. R.I.P Tommy!
