I know I joke around and stuff, but I also pay attention to what's going on! I have to say that having a claimer rule is the stupidest, most childish, mickey mouse rule that has ever been put in racing! Isn't the whole idea to try and have a car that's faster than everyone else? It shouldn't matter how many races a driver has won with a particular car! All the other drivers have to do is build a better car and put a better powerplant under the hood! Having a rule in place where someone can buy your car after you win a certain amount of races is ridiculous! If it's me, I'm gonna figure what's the use? If I have a really good car and am capable of winning alot of races, I'm gonna figure what's the use, some bozo is only gonna claim it! Reider brings up the point that after a driver wins two in a row, if he's leading the third race, he might pull off the track or slow up and let someone pass if he wants to keep that particular car! If the claimer rule starts being implemented, you will see the good drivers throwing races and stuff, and the fans will be the ones suffering in the end! I've seen that rule in place at tracks before, and believe me, it's not a good situation for anyone involved! Get rid of this stupid, pointless rule! Fast!

All the speedway has to do is enforce the rules!(Geez, I'm starting to soumd like Prophet!) These are not expensive cars! How much money can a person realistically spend on a street stock or four-banger? Most drivers and owners should be able to afford to field a reasonably competitive car! I watch drivers weekly race 30-40 grand race cars with motors(some of which) that probably cost the same, and none of the divisions has ever had a claimer rule, on the car or motor! Another speedway used to have a claimer rule on the engines of their IMCA Modifieds, but they dropped it because of all the headaches it caused, not to mention the rapidly declining car count in that division because of that stupid rule! I don't like to say things about people, but to me it appears as though you people can't handle it and start whining every time somebody wins a few races, unless of course you're a fan of that particular driver, and then it's everybody else going "sooky", as you call it! No, in my opinion, steer clear of the claimer rule! On the surface it may appear to be an ok rule, but dig a little deeper and you will find that it's flawed in so many ways!

30 to 40 grand motors and 30 to 40 grand cars sounds like he who has the most money wins?

its a rich mans sport if you want to compete in the upper classes of the sport and be competetive.hobby racing at avondale is not the upper echelon of racing its suppose to be fun so if you got a little money and time to invest why not.if you have a good car like the 37 who shows every sunday with an average of 10 or 12 other mini stockers(most not as good as his) his chances of winning are good and not so difficult.build you own and try to beat him.

The problem is that the speedway doesn't enforce the rules, they rely on the drivers to police themselves.......which is why that rule is still there and will stay there!!!!!!!!

there is maybe a half dozen drivers at the speedway that could take 400.00 dollars out of there pocket to by the 37.most of the cars are just patched and fixxed from sunday to sunday as cheaply as possible.

Actually, IMCA's are not real expensive race cars! I don't know the exact number, but I've talked to drivers and fans who have said they are quite cheap(for a race car) to buy and race! I'm guessing that they are probably not much more than some of the 8's that race at Avondale! Maybe not even as much as some!

I got a little ahead of myself on that last post, and so did many others here, why don't you take the time like I just did to READ the "ENGINE" Claim rules...ha ha ha.

SECTION 27 - ENGINE CLAIMING RULES

1. Cash claim on engines - Late Model Stock $875 Street Stock $475 Mini Stock $255 $25 of this goes to wrecker for pulling engine.

2. Claim does not include: 1. Flywheel, 2. Clutch, 3. Pressure plate, 4. Bell housing, 5. Headers, 6. Carburetor, 7. Starter, 8. Motor mounts, 9. Sending units and switches for oil pressure and water temperature, 10. Carburetor adaptor, 11. Fan and pulleys, 12. Clutch ball, 13. Clutch arm, 14. Throw out bearing, 15. Dip stick, 16. Water pump, 17. Fuel pump, 18. Distributor, 19. Plug wires, 20. Oil restrictors (must furnish plugs).

3. First three position finishers must report directly to inspection/claim area and are subject to engine claim by any other driver finishing fifth on back in feature. Failure to report directly to claim area and remaining there until told to leave by officials will result in disqualification and loss of money and points for first infraction engine is still claimable. Will be treated as engine claim refusal for second infraction. Any driver lapped by the fourth place car is not eligible to claim. Driver allowed one claim ONLY per event, regardless of outcome of that claim. In case of multiple claim on same engine, engine will go to qualified claiming driver finishing farthest back.

4. Driver making claim must drive his race car immediately after finish of feature, under its own power, directly to claiming area. Only drivers and officials allowed in claiming area. The vehicle is to remain in the engine claiming area until directed otherwise by the officials.

5. Claims must be made to official immediately after end of feature race, and claimed engine must be completely removed within one hour from time claim is made and driver agrees to sell claimed engine.

6. Claims must be made to official, with cast, valid NSCA License and claim card must accompany declaration of intention to claim.

7. Only driver may claim engine and only driver may agree to sell or refuse to sell engine. First sell or no sell by driver being claimed is binding.

8. Promoter may claim any engine finishing in the top ten immediately following feature. Driver claim takes precedence over promoter claim.

9. Refusal to sell forfeits all cash and contingency winnings for feature, any trophies earned in feature, plus ALL NSCA points for the season. Any driver refusing to sell engine, when claimed within rules, regardless of his reinstatement within NSCA loose his right to claim any NSCA driver's engine for 12 calendar months from date of refusal to sell.

10. First refusal to sell will result in loss of ALL NSCA points for the season and will also result in driver being suspended from NSCA events for 30 calendar days from date of refusal and until $1,000 cash fine is paid to NSCA. Fine must be in the form of a cashier's check or money order and be received in the NSCA office prior to driver returning to competition. Some tracks may also suspend car for duration of penalty. Second refusal to sell will result in driver being suspended from NSCA events for 60 calendar days from date of refusal and until $2,000 cash fine is paid to NSCA.

11. All claimed engines must be removed from car at the track buyer must examine engine before removal - once removal is started, sale is final.

12. The cylinder block may not be altered in such a way as to prevent it from being used in a stock application. Stock OEM components must be able to be immediately used in their stock location. NSCA drivers are to be held accountable for any sabotage discovered while pulling the engine, and will be responsible for any and all penalties as a result of any sabotage. Any sabotage discovered to claimed engine will result in driver being suspended from NSCA competition for 30 calendar days and until $1,000 cash fine is paid to NSCA. The claim will be disallowed and the money returned to the claimer.

13. No driver may claim more than four engines during current calendar year. After a driver has claimed two times, the next two drivers he claims have the option of engine exchange or the cash. In the event of exchange, claiming driver pays for both engines to be removed.

14. No driver may claim unless he has competed at the track the two previous events. Claim is in effect on opening night for all eligible drivers and driver must have been at track on opening day/night to be eligible to claim second night of season.

15. No one driver may claim any other one driver more than once during current calendar year.

16. A disqualification will not affect a legal claim. The engine will be pulled and transferred prior to any penalties being assessed.

I found the "car claim" rule after a LOT of reading. There are so many BS rules that are not followed it's hilarious, the only time a rule is enforced is when someone else thinks they can gain from it so they bitch and whine until they get their own way. Either you follow the rules or you don't, people seem to pick and choose them to their convenience...ha ha ha...what a joke.
