I noticed this league has a ton of spanish players that are nasty at football and play on the hartford teams, but when you look at the HS games being played either with HPHS, Bulkeley, Sports Med, Capitol, etc.. you don't see a lot of spanish dudes out there balling

TO the latino players in this league... did ya'll play in HS? If not, why? are you doing anything to try to motivate your community to play at the HS level, some of you definitely coulda played in college

just curious

Sanchez is mexican...pito is half white because im his dad...and quiles you know you are cubano...For real though I have coached at New Britain and HPHS and i have noticed the biggest issue with hispanic players is that with the dynamics of their families alot of them miss practice helping out because of work and having to step up and help take care of younger siblings, I have seen a ton of great hispanic players just be real and tell me how it is at home and how they gotta take care of business there. I respect that. But just like Hank Aaron tries to market baseball to african americans and to get more african americans in the game i think guys like tony gonzalez anthony munoz, need to make more of a concerted effort to market the game to spanish/hispanic communities.

I agree totally man, I know it's gotta be tough out there, each family has it's own dynamic which makes football in HS, or any extra curricular activity an after thought for some kids growing up. I think Connecticut doesn't get the credit it deserves in regards to football talent because some of the best talent either never gets a chance to play, or is being pushed in the wrong direction by a basketball coach or another coach with their own agenda.

You HS coach's out there know as well, we're one of the only states that DOES NOT allow organized football activity by coach's to be done throughout the offseason, which puts football behind other sports.

I didn't realize how off topic I got there... yes, we need more latino players playing HS football, someone needs to turn bulkeley around, I believe that school is over 70% hispanic... I think HPHS is closed to that now too
