AGAIN I HAVE SPOKEN WITH MANY OF OUR PLAYERS AND CAPTAINS AND FROM A HANDFUL OF HARTFORD PLAYERS AND CAPTAINS AND THE PROPOSAL WE PUT OUT YESTERDAY IS WHAT WE ARE WILLING TO GO WITH. EVEN THE FEW TEAMS THAT WANTED A FULL MERGER WERE COMPLETELY ON BOARD WITH THIS PLAN AS A GREAT FIRST STEP.

WE HAVE LEFT THE WEEK OF MAY 29TH OPEN FOR THE RIVALRY WEEK (CROSS-OVER GAMES). IF THE HARTFOED LEAGUE WISHES TO DO THIS THEN SO BE IT. IF NOT THEN WE WILL MOVE OUR GAMES THAT ARE SCHEDULED FOR MOTHERS DAY(MAY 8TH) INTO THAT SLOT.

THIS IS A VERY FAIR OPTION AND WILL GIVE THE TEAMS A TASTE OF MORE TO COME, HOPEFULLY WE CAN CONTINUE TO WORK ON NEW AND EXCITING IDEAS FOR THE FALL AS I AM GLAD WE HAVE OPENED UP THE LINES OF COMMUNICATION.

I COPIED THE PROPOSAL FROM MONDAY BELOW.........

After talking to all the team captains in our league either through text, in person or phone calls, and talking to a few teams from the Hartford league, the feedback I got was this...... There were 3 teams that were willing to do a full merger of leagues and schedules but all 3 of those perferred just merging the playoffs. The remaining teams wanted to play within their own league, have their own playoffs, crown a champion and then have a winner take all super bowl between the leagues.

There were a handful of captains who had some very good points on the different scenarios and I hope they will post them as I dont want to misrepresent what their concerns were.

What I feel the teams were most willing and looking forward to doing is outlined below. I feel that Antwon and I have broken down some of the barriers between us and hope we can continue to move forward in the future. The fact is there are differences in philosiphies between many of the players, captains and even Antwon and I and we are still trying to figure out the best way to compromise and give the best product to the players and still be cognizant of the big picture.

Each league mantains their own schedule and status.

One week in the season (May 29th), would be designated as a cross-over or rivalry week. The current standings at that time will dictate the match-ups. For example, we take the standings at the end of week 7 and create the week 8 schedule with Waterbury #1 vs Hartford #1, Waterbury #2 vs Hartford #2 and so on down the line.

The playoffs are held independently.........

PLAYOFF SCENARIO

Complete each playoff, crowning seperate league champions in both the Pro and Open divisions, then have each leagues Champions meet in the first ever CT League Superbowl.

It was also suggested that we hold a Pro-Bowl the same day as the Pro and Open Superbowls, with players selected from the teams that were not in the championships.

TOURNAMENTS:

KING of CONNECTICUT.......

I would like to offer the King of Connecticut tournament to every team in CT and to do that will make it a full merger with Antwon (50/50). Lower the entry fees as much as possible to ensure every team is able to participate.

The ROSTERS for the King of Connecticut event would have to be the same final rosters teams used in their spring league. No add-ons or team stacking.

32 teams after 12 spots...is much harder than 12 teams after 12 spots

Again all that has already been confirmed that it can be done... thatsa not the debate here...

The debate here is i want the best 2 teams to play each other... not the best from waterbury v.s. the best from hartford....THATS A HUGE DIFFERENCE...

NO AREA SHOULD BE GURANTEED A SPOT IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP OR PLAYOFFS

AGAIN WE SELL TO TO DIFFERENT CUSTOMERS ... MINE WHAT ANY AND ALL COMPETITION... GOOD , BAD UGLY... AND WANT ALL THE TEAMS IN ONE UMBRELLA TO CROWN A REAL CHAMP.

THIS MERGER IS NO LONGER A NECESSITY AND DOESNT NEED TO BE DONE... THE TWO AREAS HAVE TWO DIFFERENT STYLES. ILL TRY TO MAKE A COMPROMISE WITH CHRIS TO ALLOW ONLY THE TEAMS WHO WANT TO JOIN OUR TOURNAMENT TO GET A BYE OR SOMETHING..

AGAIN ALL THINGS STATED CAN BE DONBE... BUT TO GUARNTEE THAT BOTH AREAS MAKE THE CHAMPIUONSHIP IS UGLY

EXAMPLE THE GORS HARTFORD COWBOYS PLAYED THE CHARGERS FOR A CHIP ONE YEAR...CLEARLY THE CHARGERS AND THEIR LEAGUE WAS BY FAR SUPERIOR AND THE COWBOYS DID NOT DESERVE TO BE IN THE CHIP.....

THEY GOT THEIR BECAUSE THE HARTFORD LEAGUE WAS THAT TERRIBLE AND ONLY HAD FOUR TEAMS.

WE NEED TO AVOID THIS FROM HAPPENING AT ALL COST PERIOD! BEST 2 TEAMS FOR THE CHIP END OF STORY!

GUNZ vs. Bulldogs both in different leagues. both teams only lost to each other. POINT proven. im not sure who you think is going to JUMP in this playoff and change things? GUNZ, BULLDOGS, KNIGHTS, STEELERS, CHARGERS, TROJANS ARE THE BEST TEAMS IN THE STATE. DONE no questions asked. and please stop with the ridiculous nonsense of the best teams. Every one in the state knows who they are and who will end up in the finals. to me it sounds like you dont think anyone is going to come out of Hartford besides the GUNZ so your trying to get a different playoff system. when this one is tthe one the players have been asking for.

AGHAIN IF TEAMS DONT WANT TO WEED OUT THE BOTTOM TEAMS FOR THE PLAYOFFS...THATS SOMETHING IM NOT TRYING TO SELL..

IM NOT GOING TO MAKE TEAMS "WANT" TOP COMPETTIION EVERY WEEK IN THE PLAYOFFS... SOME TEAMS ARENT BUILT FOR THAT

Lets say there is 12 and you take best records of both leagues? what are the tie breakers? can you really take pts for or against when some teams might have been weaker in one league or the other?
what happens if one league has 8 teams that get in? is that fair to the other? thats why two conferences and 1 super bowl works

Cash you are right that it does make it alot harder to win a championship and I have no clue how it helps your team either because your right it doesnt help you, are any team it just makes it harder.

But I think its still backwards whatever way you look at it, why would a league be setup basically like AFC/NFC is in the NFL, with 1 interleague game. Yet the playoffs be mixed. Its a cool and innovative idea, but one that I have never seen or heard of and think is kind of silly personally. Not saying I wouldnt do it, but I dont see it happening.

I dont get the holding point on all of it, if your not going to budge, and Chris isnt going to budge, its simple. Play your league, and he does his. Its a pretty easy solution. Bearcats are voting for Chris' merge because we feel his suggestion is better than no merge at all, but it seems like both sides wont agree, so its time to forget it and play the CFFL with the divisions you setup and worry about football.

In the NFL.....

There are 2 separate leagues, they play a couple times in the regular season interleague, but in the playoffs play only their own league until the Championship (Superbowl)

So although the 2 best teams in the NFL could both be in the AFC, they will meet in the AFC Championship, not the Super bowl, thats just the way it is....

Why can't our playoffs just be the same way??

Yes cash i see what you are saying BUT what your not realizing is if you do what your proposing then you have to take into account that those teams HAVE to play each other which means someone has to TRAVEL and that is the biggest problem.

AFC:WEST
knights
trojans
raiders
sharks
gators
AFC:EAST
gunz
vikings
hitsquad
gamblers
rams

in this conference these teams would have to travel to play one another. and most teams dont want to travel. You cant mix leagues and not have the teams in a conference not play each other or at least the majority of the conference. you cant do the conference above and only have the hartford side play one of the waterburys side just once and play all the other games against hartford side of the conference and then other hartford teams

Cash the reason is for travel puposes. It's safer to just have the cross-over games once or twice now, then revisit it in the fall. Give teams time to prepare for more travels in the fall. If you look at each division in the NFL most teams are relatively close to each other(with some exceptions) . Thats why they have the names NFC SOUTH, AFC WEST etc.....

National Football League regular season

Following the preseason, each of the thirty-two
teams embark on a seventeen-week, sixteen-game schedule, with the extra week consisting of a bye to allow teams a rest sometime in the middle of the season (and also to increase television coverage). The regular season currently begins the Thursday evening after Labor Day with a primetime "Kickoff Game" (NBC currently holds broadcast rights for that game). According to the current scheduling structure, the earliest the season could begin is September 4 (as it was in the 2008 season), while the latest would be September 10 (as it was in the 2009 season, due to September 1 falling on a Tuesday).

The league uses a scheduling formula to pre-determine which teams plays whom during a given season. Under the current formula since 2002, each of the thirty-two teams' respective 16-game schedule consists for the following:[9][10]

Each team plays the other three teams in their division twice: once at home, and once on the road (six games).
Each team plays the four teams from another division within its own conference once on a rotating three-year cycle: two at home, and two on the road (four games).
Each team plays the four teams from a division in the other conference once on a rotating four-year cycle: two at home, and two on the road (four games).
Each team plays once against the other teams in its conference that finished in the same place in their own divisions as themselves the previous season, not counting the division they were already scheduled to play: one at home, one on the road (two games).
Although this scheduling formula determines each of the thirty-two teams' respective opponents, the league usually does not release the final regular schedule with specific dates and times until the spring the NFL needs several months to coordinate the entire season schedule so that, among other reasons, games are worked around various scheduling conflicts, and that it helps maximize TV ratings.[11]

Main article: National Football League playoffs

The season concludes with a twelve-team tournament used to determine the teams to play in the Super Bowl. The tournament brackets are made up of six teams from each of the league's two conferences, the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC), following the end of the 16-game regular season:

The four division champions from each conference (the team in each division with the best regular season won-lost-tied record), which are seeded one through four based on their regular season won-lost-tied record (tie-breaker rules may apply).
Two wild card qualifiers from each conference (those non-division champions with the conference's best record, i.e. the best won-lost-tied percentages, with a series of tie-breaking rules in place in the event that there are teams with the same number of wins and losses[12]), which are seeded five and six.
In each conference, the #3 and #6 seeded teams, and the #4 and #5 seeds, face each other during the first round of the playoffs, dubbed the Wild Card Playoffs (the league in recent years has also used the term Wild Card Weekend). The #1 and #2 seeds from each conference receive a bye in the first round, which entitles these teams to automatically advance to the second round, the Divisional Playoff games, to face the winning teams from the first round. In round two, the #1 seeded team always plays the lowest surviving seed in their conference. And in any given playoff game, whoever has the higher seed gets the home field advantage (i.e. the game is held at the higher seed's home field).

The two surviving teams from the Divisional Playoff games meet in Conference Championship games, with the winners of those contests going on to face one another in the Super Bowl in a game located at a neutral venue that is usually either indoors or in a warm-weather locale. The designated "home team" alternates year to year between the conferences. In odd-numbered Super Bowls, the NFC team is the designated "home team", with the AFC team serving as the home team for even-numbered games.

The NFL is the only one out of the four major professional sports leagues in the United States to use a single-elimination tournament in its playoffs Major League Baseball, the National Basketball Association and the National Hockey League all use a "best-of" format instead

but thats my point.. your league was willing to let new england connection, gladiators, etc etc come into your league.... now that its hartford theres hesitation... sometimes you have to read between the lines

merge with new york , rhode island but not harttford..come on mannn lol...like i said we cant make you lol

I understand Cash.... I like that you have everyone on board, just was trying to get confirmation from everyone on the board that way when the final decision is made no one can come back to you or Chris complaining about it...just trying to make it easier on you guys...but since hartford is 100% in favor and we already have confirmation of 50% of waterbury it just comes down to the type of merger which will be decided Friday night in the meeting.... Can't wait to get this done and get some football started.

Yes the votes were for teams in favor of the proposal at the top of this posting but we have decided to hold an captains meeting Friday night in which we will discuss the two options..and make the final decision based on what the majority of the captains, Chris, and Antwon all want.

i know im beatin a deadh horse but i am also in favor of everything

so if theres 100 things chris wants that he posted earlier... he can have 99 of them.. i want one... mixed playoffs... thats it.. nothing else... i want one percent of all the requests...

so chris proposal is my proposal.. except there is one playoffs instead of 2... there are no other differences.

again i emphasize if my teams register with chris this isnt even an issue... hed have to put all teams in one playoff

why cant that be done now? seriously? lol
