| Welcome to the 2011 CFFL playoffs...here are my notes on each game
Knights(1) vs BeachRaiders(8): The last time these two teams met it was a 42 to 7 drubbing by the knights. Did you know the Knights scored 69 more points than any other team in the league? And gave up the fewest points in the league! BR's will want to use the ground game with Brett and Marcus. Brett was able to get 59 yards on 10 carries against the Knights during the regular season. However, Terry through two critical picks. Scott Bard the QB for the Knights is a MVP hopeful as he has thrown for over 2200 yards, 35 touchdowns and only 5 ints! He is the real deal and with all of the offensive weapons he has to work with the BR's are in for a long day and quick exit from the playoffs. Knights have 5 guys with ATLEAST 11 catches 200 yards and 4 tds! No other team in the league can say that. Knights in another laugher. Knights 35 to 7.
Keys to the Game for the Knights: BR's will try to run the ball. Stack the box and force Terry to throw. Watch alot of toss out of the backfield and playaction.
Keys to the Game for the BR's: Eliminate mistakes. Knights are too good to have turnovers and still expect to win. You need to blitz and get pressure on Scott. Too many weapons and you dont have the athletes to guard their guys in space for an extended amount of time.
YGunz(2) vs Bulldogs(7): These two teams are playing in back to back weeks. Last week the Gunz beat the Dogs 20 to 0. With no Cervessi at QB for the Bulldogs they struggled greatly. But I am sure both these teams will have all their guys this week for this round 1 matchup. Bulldogs need to do a better job of getting tyrece the ball down the field. Dude has only 2 games where he went over fifty yards. Thats an issue. Whether its the qb or tyrece already packing it in and already thinking about wearing black n orange who knows but this is playoffs and he needs to be fed. Big time players come to play in big time games. Roberts will lead the attack for the gunz with his 1700 yards and 20 tds this season. Sanchez will be a big factor in this game and I expect Elfren will be as well. Bulldogs can not stop anyone. They need to score and score often to beat the gunz. Without Cervessi they stand no chance. Gunz 27 Bulldogs 13.
Keys to the Game for the Gunz: Sustain drives. No need to score quickly. Keep the Bulldogs terrible defense on the field and no need for you to get into a shootout with the Dogs.
Keys to the Game for the Bulldogs: Get Mike to the game and force feed Tyrece early especially if the short Gotay is on him. Calvin is always open in the middle of the field so a safety valve is there. They will get pressure do not take sacks and put yourself in long situations.
Vikings(3) vs Cowboys(6): The 5-5 Vikings are the Seattle Seahawks of the CFFL. Mediocre team with a few good players gets lucky with a 3 seed. The last time these two played it was the first game of the year and the Vikings beat them 33 to 12. This is meaningless due to the fact how much improved Gore and the Cowboys are. But I am still confused on how you smoked the Bulldogs and than got smoked by the Franchise? (Don't need any responses from Franchise peanut gallery) The Vikings are a mess. Loss 4 in a row during a stretch in the middle of the season then knocked off a sinking bulldogs team and then got beat by Spartans pretty good. Ya Dolch has thrown for 1900 yards and 21 tds but I am not impressed. I am going to throw the Franchise game out and say the Cowboys were coming off a high of beat the dogs and took the franchise lightly. But the Cowboys are a cohesive unit. Play well together and Gore has made tremendous strides in his passing game. Over 1100 yards and 16 tds. I am most impressed with only 5 picks in 120 pass attempts! I am hopping on the Cowboy banwagon if someone on their oline can block junior. Cowboys 27 Vikings 21.
Keys to the Game for the Vikings: Get pressure on Gore. If they want to double Junior someone will have to step up. Look for Ish as it is Gores favorite target.
Keys to the Game for the Cowboys: Dolch is a pocket passer. Send pressure from up the middle and make him throw on the run. Make him throw quick game. He has serious speed at WR to work with so keep them in front of you.
Steelers(4) vs Spartans(5): This will be a great football game. As neither team will want to make a first round exit. Have the Steelers ever made a first round exit? Last time these two teams played Steelers won at the very end of the game and I am pretty sure this was the game where he Dawud calls a fake punt on his own. Spartans are a very talented team and much better than their record would explain. Dawud and Kurt have combined for 1900 yards and 26 tds! Spence has thrown for close to 2300 yards 30 tds but 13 ints. Steelers are lead by Rocket who has had another great year throwing for almost 1600 yards 22 tds and only 3 ints! He rarely makes a throwing mistake for someone who runs around alot. Steelers need to always keep track of Dawud. If he is in the slot- most likely running a quick out or out and up. If he is outside wr watch for fade, hitch, slant. He keeps it simple. With Kurt you are on your own...probably recommend getting pressure on Spence for coverage. I expect a high scoring affair in this one. The steelers D is tough and will get Spence to make bad decisions. Steelers 26 Spartans 22.
Keys to the Game for Steelers: Get to Spence. He will force balls into coverage as he has too much confidence in Dawud and Kurt sometimes. Watch quick game and then a deep ball after they get you to come up a few times.
Keys to the Game for the Spartans: Need to protect for Spence. Bring an extra te or ol in if you have to. Steeler secondary is not great but their interior lbs and dline is. Dont be afraid to take shots down the field to open up their defense.

Knights vs Steelers: This one will be another one for the ages. The road has always gone through steelerville for the Knights and that has not worked out in their favor. The Knights lost to the Steelers last spring as they went for two belts in one day. Rocket was just too much for a drained Knights team and he scored on a rush with seconds left on the clock.
Knights come into this one after embarrassing the BeachRaiders in their first 1 vs 8 seed matchup. Steelers had another battle with Kash's minions but after some controversy the Steelers walked away victorious 27 to 20. In their regular season matchup the Knights beat the Steelers 27 to 6. This has been done by the knights before (last fall) with a undefeated reg season (not counting a forfeit) and then a loss to the Steelers in the playoffs. Scotty Bard who the Steelers had not seen in years threw for 230 yards on 13 for 17 pass attempts and 3 tds no ints.
Rocket is this years MVP with over 300 yards rushing and 4 tds, over 1500 yards through the air along with 22 tds and only 3 ints. With a solid o line rocket is easily the most dangerous player in the league. I dont see this game like it went last spring. This will not be a 9 to 7 game or whatever it was in the spring. The Knights qb is the real deal. He gets it out of his hands and delivers a very accurate ball. Ish struggled when he got pressure up the middle by the Steelers but Bard seems to handle it better and deliver quick accurate balls. But the Steelers are the Knights Kryptonite so who knows.
With their key additions on their dline the knights seem to have answered all of their issues. I do not see many holes on the Knights on either side of the ball. The Steelers are an intimidating force when it comes playoff time and are always a tough matchup for any team. Rocket always takes the game into his own hands at the end of ball games. If Knights can eliminate the big plays from Rocket they can win this ball game. Knights 21 Steelers 13.
Keys to the Game for the Knights: Once you get through their Oline stop. Just mirror Rocket and force him to make a snap throw. Do not chase him thats when he is at his best. Stay on their receivers down the field...do not underestimate Rockets throwing ability.
Keys to the Game for the Steelers: Get pressure on Bard. Your secondary is not good enough to hang with the Knights wr's down the field. Do not get in a shootout with them...try to slow the game down and control the clock.
Players to watch for the Knights: >QB Scott Bard is new to the hartford league and put up MVP type numbers his first season. 2230 passing yards along with 35 tds! >WR Josh Withee is a converted qb to wr. He has flurished in this role as slot for the Knights. 658 yards on 37 receptions and 11 tds. >WR Steve Angiletta has been one of the best in the league for a while now. With close to 600 yds and 9 tds, he is averaging 23 yds per catch. >LB Dan Patterson the long time Knight and leader of the leagues best defense has 43 flag pulls 3 sacks, 2 ints, and a def td. >DB Jamaal Foye another long time great db in this league is a lock down corner who makes every flag pull in his area. 26 flag pulls and 4 ints.
Players to watch for the Steelers: >QB Rocket Bryant is league MVP and an unstoppable force in the flag game. >WR Chris Collins a long time and productive steeler with 370 yards and 4 tds on the year. >Tylee and Anrae are big tough guys for the Steelers. Can be used anywhere WR/TE/RB/DL. >LB Izzy Riveri a flag pulling beast. 35 flag pulls and anchors the middle of the steelers defense. >LB Marcos is another solid linebacker for the Steelers who is always in the right position. He has 3 sacks along with his 17 flag pulls. >DL Brown has 8 sacks on the year is a big force on the dline.

Young Gunz vs Vikings: Vikings are like the Ny Giants...no idea what team you are getting week to week. Last week against a tough up and coming Cowboys team the Vikings looked solid and brought home a W. Did anyone know Dolch could run like that? That was impressive Mr. Dolch and I am sorry for not picking you guys against the Cowboys. Gore and Macon had me buying into the Koolaid. The Gunz looked good last week but not unbeatable like they used to in previous years. Their oline struggled with the Bulldogs dline. Elfren and Eric on the offense makes that offense run alot better since teams cant just focus on Sanchez.
In the regular season the Gunz squeaked out a victory 15 to 6 against the Viks. Roberts struggled a bit in that game only completing 12 of 21 pass attempts for 140 yards and a touch. But Dolch struggled more throwing 2 ints. Junior had 4 sacks and 7 flag pulls in that game. He will have to play like that again.
You would think with all the fire power on offense for both teams that it would come down to who scores more but to me this game will be determined by the game in the trenches. Like I said earlier the gunz dline did not look good last week and they did not face anyone close to the calibur of Junior. Junior was M.I.A. last week and he will have to show this week if the Vikings even want to think about winning this game. Chief and Co. will have to get pressure on Dolch and not let him sit back there like a statue. Like they did last time they played Dolch was uncomfortable and threw 2 picks. Gunz the Vikings will test your secondary down the field. Gotay is under sized and Morales is not going to be able to cover Nigel and Ivan for an extended period of time. Both sides will make their plays on offense but the trenches will decide the outcome. I like the YG dline of Chief/Felix/Doug to cause havoc and making it a long day for Dolch. The YG oline will not be able to stop Junior they will just have to slow him down. YG's 20 Vikings 14.
Keys to the Game for the Young Gunz: Double Junior! How to do that you should run the ball and when not running have Eric or a TE to his side because your oline can not handle him one on one. Get to Dolch. You give him time he will find the holes in your secondary and deliver.
Keys to the Game for the Vikings: Make sure Junior and Nigel show up. You need all hands on deck to beat the Gunz. Move Junior around so the Gunz will always have to account for him. Watch the deep balls...you have to limit the Vikings big plays.
Players to Watch for the Gunz: QB Chris Roberts is an athlete and talented Qb. He will make plays in big games. 1700 yards and 20 tds with limited weapons on offense all year. WR David Sanchez is a playmaker and needs to touch the ball several times in this game. 400 yards and 4 tds in limited action. WR/LB Elfren is a great possession receiver with big hands and big body. Tough to cover. DL Chief/Felix/Doug three big strong guys who will be trying to get to Dolch all game long.
Players to watch for the Vikings: QB Scott Dolch has good arm and I guess can run also after seeing him do it last week. 1900 yards and 21 tds. WR Ivan/Nigel talented receivers who are deep threats at any time. Close to 60 catches 1000 yards and 14 tds between them. DL Junior Haslem can not be blocked. A beast on every down. 13 sacks and 32 flag pulls!

BeachRaiders vs YGs: To me the Beach Raiders are totally over rated. They want love but they deserve none. Their four wins are against whalers/franchise/vikings/assassins...not impressed. Their three losses are to bulldogs/knights/spartans and were combined outscored in those three contests 94 to 27! Comeon mannnnn (keyshawn voice). YGunz have won three in a row and just knocked off the spring champs the Steelers (w/o Rocket) however. Beach Raiders do not have a chance in this one. They have no one who can stop Sanchez who now has 4 tds and over 350 yards in only 5 games played. The run game does nto work against experienced and talented flag teams. (see BR's 3 losses). Roberts and the rest of the whatever gunz show up will beat the BeachRaiders easily. 26 to 6.
Keys to the game for the BRs: Get pressure on Roberts. Gunz have had a suspect line showing up on Sundays. Get to him and force bad decisions. You let him sit back there he will pick your awful secondary apart.
Keys to the game for the YGs: Show up. Stop the run game and force Terry to throw. Watch out for play action and a down field throw to Lyndell.
Knights vs Vikings (Game of the Week): Knights are coming off a bye week and a week away from putting up 60 on the whalers. Vikings are coming off a big win against the previously undefeated Bulldogs. Where Dolch threw for close to 300 yards and 4 tds. However, Dolch will be going up against one of the best defensive units in the league. Knights force you to throw underneath and very rarely give up a deep ball which the Vikings love to do. MVP hopeful Scott Bard has thrown for almost 1900 yards and 28 tds and only 5 ints. Knights are extremely deep on the offensive side of the ball as they have 5 guys with atleast 2 tds this year. Vikings also have fire power with Nigel and Ivan who have combined for over 900 yards and 13 tds. But I don't see enough defense for the Vikings to stop Bard and all of his weapons. I expect the knights to give up the most points they have all season but it still wont be enough. Knights 35 Vikings 21.
Keys to the game for the Knights: Contain Nigel and Ivan. Do not give up the deep ball. Get pressure on Dolch as he loves to throw off his back foot and force balls. no homo. Use your TE to help your tackles with Junior coming off the edge.
Keys to the game for the Viks: Get pressure on Scott from up the middle. He likes to stay in the pocket and rarely rolls out. This has to be Juniors biggest game of the year.
Steelers vs Oilers: Steelers should be hungry after a loss to their rival the YGunz. But a bitter taste as they did not have their franchise player rocket. Oilers are 3-5 and beat a helpless whalers team but are all over the boards this week as if they are 8-0. They will have to back up that talk this week if they want to be a pissed off steelers squad. Their defense will have to come to play especially if Rocket is back behind center. Oilers have only given up on average 12 points a game. Moore seems to be playing better and their offense is reflecting that leadership. With Rocket Steelers are going to win/without it becomes alot harder to predict. I will say Rocket shows this week but will struggle to find openings on the stingy Oilers defense. However, Oilers will have a tougher time scoring on the steelers d. Steelers 12 Oilers 6.
Keys to the game for the Steelers: Get an alarm clock for Rocket. Dont force balls downfield against the Oilers secondary. Take the quick pass if given. Oilers have 3 guys with atleast 5 sacks.
Keys to the game for the Oilers: Get to Rocket. Wide rush your d ends. Do not chase him. Keep him contained and stay on the receivers down the field.

Cowboys vs BeachRaiders: Cowboys have played everybody tough. Before their bye week they lost a tough fought game against the Steelers. I dont know how much fight the BRs will have after getting beat by the Gunz in their first game of the day. Gor has thrown for 700 yards and 11 tds! Very impressive for a guy not playing his natural position. Gor keeps them in games and does not make a ton of mistakes. Their defense is lead by Rivera who has 17 flag pulls 3 sacks and 1 int on the yr. For the Raiders Burnham is averaging close to 8 yards a carry and is a force to control. I expect a low scoring game but with the Cowboys finding a way to win 12 to 6.
Keys to the game for the Cowboys: Give Gor some time and allow him to throw the ball down the field to Macon. Raiders secondary is non existent.
Keys to the game for the Raiders: Control the clock and be the tougher team. Getting pressure on Gor will force him to make bad decisions.
Cowboys vs Franchise: Cowboys will be coming off a tough and physical game against the Raiders to face a hungry and determined Franchise team. Franchise had three heartbreak losses in a row to Bulldogs/Knights/Spartans. Like I said before Calovito puts them in position to win every week however, he is lacking true playmakers to make these weeks turn into W's. In the past two weeks combined Calovito has thrown for almost 500 yards and 4 tds. I like Calovito to squeeze out a win this week against the Cowboys. Franchise 18 Cowboys 13.
Keys to the game for the Cowboys: Maintain the ball. Go on long drives. Franchise defense is suspect at best. Keep the ball out of calovitos hands.
Keys to the game for the Franchise: Get to Gor. Watch for Macon in the red zone. Gor loves to force it to him down there.
Whalers vs Spartans: Do I really have to do a write up? Spartans have three mvp hopefulls in Dawud, Kurt, and Spence. This three headed monster has been unstoppable. Dawud and Kurt have combined for 1600 yards and 22 tds! Whalers have no chance not even worth my time to talk about them. But thanks for showing up and not forcing teams to take forfeit wins.
No keys to game just show up and whalers qb will throw it to the Spartans.
Knights vs Bulldogs (Game of the week): A battle of undefeated teams go head to head this week. Both teams know one another very well. Both played in waterbury last year and Knights had their number both times they played. Other than a rough first half against the spartans the knights have looked very good. Bulldogs have some quality wins against the steelers/franchise/beachraiders. With tyrece and calvin the knights will have their hands full as they have combined for 43 catches, over 500 yrds, and 8 tds in just 4 games! However knights defense is tops in the league giving up only 38 points in 5 games. Thats a lil over a td a game. Knights offense is on point with the Bard at the helm and many weapons at his disposal. It seems if you focus on one of their weapons another will kill you. They have 4 guys with atleast 9 catches and 2 tds. Withee and Angiletta have 11 tds combined in 5 games. Bulldogs with a full team are very tough but are weak at safety. Their dline and mo lloyd will keep this close. But I dont see them scoring enough to keep pace. Knights 21 Bulldogs 13.
Keys to the game for Bulldogs: Keep the knights contained. Do not allow the deep ball and force them to throw underneath. Get pressure on their QB as he likes to stay in the pocket.
Keys to the game for Knights: Stay poised. Attack the deep center of the field. Use the screen game if Bulldogs dline becomes an issue.
Whalers v Young Gunz: The Young gunz have easily become the most hated team in the CFFL. It seems every team wants to beat them more than any other team. The days of them showing up with 10 guys and winning are surely gone. But the Whalers will not have enough to compete against the pissed off gunz. As the 6 game approaches guys who have not played yet will have to play to make sure they get the 3 games in by week 8. Roberts will have to buckle down and get out of this one with a W. YG 18 Whalers 6.
Keys to the game for the whalers: Get pressure on roberts but at the same time keep him contained in the pocket. He can and will beat you with his feet. They are weak in the secondary, take some shots down the field and hopefully that will open up the gunz secondary a bit.
Keys to the game for the YG: Show up and play. No talking just get the job done. You play sound football and this should be an easy W.
Spartans vs Bulldogs: This will be closest game of the week. Spartans coming off an embarrassing lose to the Knights will want to rebound in this one especially because they do not want to fall to 2-4 on the year. Bulldogs will be tired from the battle with the Knights early so Spartans will have to attack early. With spence there the Spartans are a very tough team. He makes sound reads and lets his playmakers make plays. Dawud should have a bounce back game this week as he is facing a much weaker secondary. However, the spartans secondary also has holes as the knights figured them out in second half last week. Calvin and Tyrece will have to step up and make some plays. I expect scoring in this one. Bulldogs 26 Spartans 20.
Keys to the game for the Spartans: Contain tyrece. Do not let him make big plays. Calvin will get open and make his catches but he is not going to run by you. Use all of your weapons. J greens and dawuds speed needs to be used often and early. Bulldogs secondary can not hang with the speed of your receivers.
Keys to the game for the Bulldogs: Have to get pressure on spence and force him to throw before he wants to. Spartans have to many weapons and spence is too good if you give him time. Spence and dawud love the flats as they try to get it in his hands quick and let him run with it. Protect Mike and you will find holes in the Spartan secondary.
Knights vs Franchise: This has the making of an upset all over it. The knights will have to give it their all in the 9oclock game against the bulldogs then face a hungry and determined Franchise team. With Calovito at the helm they are a much better football team. However, Calovito has never played well against the Knights. Knights I am sure are hearing the whispers of an upset and will come ready to play. Maybe a slow first half for the knights until they realize they have a fight ahead of them. But Knights offense is too much for most defenses in the league. And with the combination of the knights having calovitos number in the past this will make for another win by the Knights. Knights 28 Franchise 6.
Keys to the Game for the Franchise: Need to get pressure on Bard. Carlito will have to get in his face and make him uncomfortable. Calovito has to limit his mistakes and not give knights a short field or turn the ball over.
keys to the game for the Knights: Dont have a let down. Come ready to play from the beginning. Dont take the franchise lightly. Protect for bard and the Knights wr's and te will get open.
Assassins vs Steelers: Other than the YG game the Assassins have played everyone extremely tough. The steelers are riding a two game winning streak and just last week blew out the Vikings. Rocket has thrown for over 700 yds 9 tds and only 1 int. Oh ya he can run too with over 200 yds on the ground and 2 tds. Rocket is basically unstoppable. With his big and talented offensive oline rocket is finding open receivers and delivering accurate balls. To much rocket in this one for the assassins to handle. Steelers 26 Assassins 6.
Keys to the game for the Assassins: Contain rocket. Wide rush your dends and keep in the pocket. Let him come to you. Stay on the receivers as rocket will buy time and find them down the field. I recomend spying rocket with your middle backer.
Keys to the game for the Steelers: Dont make mistakes and allow assassins to stick around. They are tough and will battle to the end. Rocket do not force passes.
Vikings vs Beach Raiders: Vikings offense is very talented and the beach raiders defense is not. However Vikings cant stop anybody either. Beach raiders will need to stick to the run game and keep the ball out of dolchs hands. Ivan and nigel are serious playmakers as they have over 600 yds and 9 tds combined. Beachraiders need to feed burnham the ball. Vikings offense will be too much in this one. Viks 33 to 12.
keys to the game for the Vikings: Spread the BR's out and sling it. Their defensive secondary is suspect at best. Stop the run game! If you allow them to eat up clock and run the ball they will control the game.
Keys to the game for the Beach raiders: Slow down dolch and the weapons at his disposal. Get pressure on him from up the middle. Get him on the move. Stick to the run game. Keep dolch off the field as long as possible.

YG vs Cowboys: Cowboys are coming off a bye week and a game in which they just squeaked by the Assassins. Cowboys have given up most points in the league and are playing a talented offense lead by Chris Roberts who has had a solid yr with limited weapons showing up for him (500 yds and 4 tds). Cowboys don't have enough fire power to keep pace in this one. Young gunz 20 Cowboys 6.
Spartans vs Knights (Game of the Week): Cash gets to play against his favorite team/arch nemesis the knights. Spartans are going to want to win this game badly due to having to forfeit against the Gunz and losing in the last seconds to the steelers. A third lose could really hurt the Spartans in the arms race for a top seed. Dawud is having a great yr for the Spartans with over 500 yds receiving and 6 tds. Dawud is an x-knight and I am sure will want to show the knights what they are missing without him. Josh Spence has never faced the knights and he will have his hands full with their new d line weapons and talented secondary. Knights have only given up 25 points in 4 games. Spartans will try to get pressure on the Knights qb Bard with Tshovee and Haynes who have combined for 7 sacks on the season. ***Interesting fact*** Spence and Bard played against one another in college twice. Bard won both those matchups. I see a low scoring game but too much knights in this one. They will contain dawud and force Spence to throw elsewhere. Knights 14 Spartans 6.
Oilers vs Assassins: Two very similiar teams in this matchup. Both have one win on the season but play every team very tough. Oilers are lead by Mark Moore - an athlete who can run or pass. Assassins have not found their identity yet and will struggle against a stingy Oilers defense. Oilers 12 Assassins 6.
Franchise vs Whalers: Calovito played well with the Franchise throwing for 200 yds against the Bulldogs good defense. He kept them in it and had a chance to win it at the end of the game. If franchise can start to play some defense Calovito will help them stay in games and win some close ones. Whalers are awful and only thing going for them is that they might have the nicest jerseys in the league. However, that does not put points on the scoreboard. Franchise 18 Whalers 7
Steelers vs Vikings: Felix and Gotay announce they are leaving the Vikings. Gotay with 17 flag pulls and his presence in the secondary will be missed and felixs pressure on the qb. No felix will allow teams to double junior. Vikings can still score the rock with Dolch and his crew of weapons at wr but I dont know if they will be able to stop Rocket Man and the rest of the Steelers. Steelers 20 Vikings 13.

| Week 10 was done, its already on the site... but i want the raw version...i dont believe the other writer wrote it, as i had asked kazaam to help out as i had fell behind with the poweroutages with updating the site
