Assassins 35 vs. Gang Green 7

The Assassins came out Sunday on a mission and got their first win. They looked to be hitting on all cylinders. QB Troy Brown has been keeping a steady pace progression wise and had his best game yet. He passed for 252 Yards and 3 TDs.  CJ Amaro caught 3 balls for 56 Yards and 2 TDs and Nate Amos had 75 Yards and a TD also. The bigtime player of the day goes to none other than Anthony MMA Kaponis who recorded 8 Flag Pulls and a league record 7 total sacks. He was dominant from the opening whistle and was just unstoppable on the line. Gang Green once against just looks outmatched in this league. They do seem to like the league and are excited to play, but they are simply overwhelmed with the level of competition. Ryan Mcfarlin passed for 157 Yards for Gang Green and a TD. He also threw 2 INTs. Paul McFarlin caught 5 balls for 84 Yards as well and Bill Wells recorded 4 flag pulls and 3 sacks on defense.

Cowboys 20 vs. Hit Squad 0

The hype before the game was if or when Jamie ‘Rocket’ Bryant would be there for the game or not. The answer was no and the Cowboys dominated from then on.  This was a beat down from the start. Jose “Gor” Rosario had a good game plan and was effective with his short game early. He passed for a total of 188 Yards and 3 TDs. With his longtime top target Rob Hernandez back in the fold (5 Receptions, 112 Yard,s 2 TD) the Cowboys offense seemed to have a boost of confidence. On defense Cleveland Patterson is making a name for himself as one of the better cornerbacks in the league. He had 1 Flag Pull and 2 Interceptions. Hit Squad looked despondent to the fact that their “Rockstar” was missing in action. Their offense was dreadful to watch. Shane Milledge passed for 85 Yards and 3 interceptions. Defensively speaking they didn’t play bad, Anthony Huff recorded 8 flag grabs but they didn’t play with the same type of swagger we are used to seeing. The Cowboys are a tough opponent for anybody in this league. They are no easy win and are a team to watch in upcoming weeks. For Hit Squad to compete at a high level, QB Rocket Bryant and WR Jon Green have to be in the fold. Without them, they are an average team at best.

Player of the Game- Rob Hernandez- 112 Receiving Yards, 2 TDs

Havoc 8 vs. Knights 30

This game was intended to be a trap game for the Knights but it ended up being a blowout. The Knights offense got back on track in this one, Scott Bard picked apart team Havoc for 333 Yards and 5 TD Passes. His new favorite weapon Garry Coles put in another great days work with 171 Yards and 3 TDs. Steve Angiletta also had 83 Yards and a TD as well. On defense Sean Aldieri (6 flag grabs), Ryan Gemmell (7 flag grabs) and Chase Mayoussier(4 flag grabs, 1 int) all had good performances. For Havoc, this looks like a team in repair. They picked up pocket passing QB Reggie Woodard but have appeared to be questioning their own move. Statwise he actually didn’t play horribly, He had 192 Yards and a TD. Bramin Cooper caught 7 balls for 110 yards and Bobby Shaw caught an INT on defense. The Knights were clearly just better than Havoc in this game. The Knights are a top 5 team in the league no matter what their record says. Havoc used to be, but something this year just isn’t right with this team. Once they figure out who is their starting QB, things could fall into place for Havoc. Only time will tell regarding this club.

Eagles 8 vs. Oilers 7

This was a defensive struggle for both teams. Each team only scored 1 touchdown but the Eagles got a 2 point conversion to win 8-7. QB Brian Gelsomino passed for 133 Yards and the lone TD. He was sacked 7 times in this game, which was part of the struggles for the Eagles offense. Jay Gelsomino caught the only TD and had 36 total yards. Marcus Mccray also had 65 total yards as well. On defense Brett Burnham had 3 flag pulls and an INT and Eugene Miller also had the same stat line with 3 flag pulls and an INT. The Oilers are just struggling to get that first W. Each week they compete hard and have a chance to win but juts have yet to pull it out. Their QB had a tough day with 174 Yards and a TD but he also had 3 costly interceptions. Zo Gilliam and Mark Moore played good on offense with 68 and 53 Yards respectively. Akwan Shabazz also had a TD. On Defense Jose “Indio” Perez played great with 5 flag Grabs and 3 Sacks and Akwan Shabazz also had 2 Interceptions on defense. This was a good win for the Eagles who had already lost earlier in the day. The Oilers needed this one confidence wise. With the Oilers it seems like when their defense plays good, their offense doesn’t and when their offense plays good, their defense doesn’t. They are very unlucky, but have the talent to turn it around.

Player of the Game- Marcus Mccray- 65 Total Yards

Vikings 7 vs. Young Gunz 21

The Young Gunz have faced 3 pretty tough opponents in the opening 3 weeks and have disposed of all of them. This was a close game early, but the Gunz eventually put it out of reach midway through the 2nd half. QB Chris Roberts passed for a total of 325 Yards and 3 TDs. David Sanchez recorded 100 Yards total, Elfren Quiles recorded 90 Yards and a TD and Anrae Fevier also had a good day with 49 Yards and a TD. Defensively Doug Cotto had 1 flag grab, 1 sack and 1 INT and Elfren Quiles also had 5 Flag Grabs and an INT as well. The Vikings were overmatched in this game but they have the talent to upset some good teams down the road. Scott Dolch had his hands full in this game. The Gunz apply a lot of pressure and even if they aren’t producing sacks, they make their pressure known. He passed for 263 Yards and 1 TD. He also had 2 Interceptions. His top target Ivan Schmidt caught 8 balls for 94 yards but had 2 uncharacteristic touchdown drops that could have made this game closer. LJ Colon also had 89 Yards and a TD. Dustin Linden made his return to the CFFL as well with 3 flag grabs, 3 Sacks and an Interception.

Player of the Game- Chris Roberts- 325 Yards, 3 TDs

Gators 26 vs. Raiders 12

The Gators came out with one goal in mind and that was to get their first win in the CFFL as a team. They accomplished this with a solid performance all around vs. The Raiders. Dave Logan passed for 144 Yards and a TD, and also ran for 67 Yards. Tylee Flowers also ran for 46 Yards and  a TD in this one. Drew Allen also had 44 Receiving Yards on offense. He also had a good game on defense with 4 Flag Grabs and a Sack. The Raiders were in the 2nd game of a double header and truthfully speaking they looked to be worn down. Terry Scruse had a solid game with 128 Yards and a TD but it wasn’t enough to pull away with a victory. WR #1 had 61 Receiving Yards and a TD and on defense #13 had 1 Flag and a Sack and #7 had an Interception on defense. This is a good step for the Gators who were in need a big win for their team. The Raiders have a tough road ahead, they have a tough schedule and this was a game that they could have used down the road. This team could either fold or rally in the coming weeks.

Player of the Game- Dave Logan- 114 Passing Yards, 67 Rushing Yards, TD

Franchise 14 vs. Eagles 13

This wasn’t slated as the game of the day but it turned out to be the most exciting one. The Eagles were up late and it took a late drive by Mike Colavito to secure the win in an fun to watch ending. Colivaito passed for 291 Yards and 2 TDs in this game. Jose “Mad Dog” Ramos was bogged down in the run game, but he is very multi-dimensional as he recorded 143 Yards receiving with a TD. Ric Johnson also had 40 Yards and a TD for Franchise. Their defense is very strong. They have loads of talent out there. Juan “Carlito” Colon had 2 Flag Grabs and 2 Sacks. Ray Colon also had 3 Flag Grabs and 3 Sacks, and lastly Izzy Rivera had 4 flag grabs and a Sack as well. The Eagles are an extremely tough team. They have made strides in this league probably more so than any other team. QB Brian Gelsomino passed for 184 Yards and a TD. He also ran in a TD as well. His brother and top target Jay Gelsomino caught 4 balls for 58 Yards and a TD and John Klein had 74 Receiving Yards too. On defense Josh Calcano had 3 Flag Grabs and 2 Sacks and Brett Burnham also had 5 Flags as well. This was a great game all around. A lot of action, hard hitting and a game winning drive to seal it off. Franchise looks to be a powerhouse team. They have a verteran QB, Good running game and some solid defensive pickups. The Eagles can’t hang their head either, they played a good team tough to the end. They have newfound play makers who can put this team into the next level.

Player of the Game- Mike Calavito- 291 Yards, 2 TD (Game Winning Drive)

Raiders 26 vs. Bearcats 14

After a tough game vs. the Young Gunz the Bearcats came out looking to get back into the win column. They struggled early on but got it going late in the 1st half. QB Josh Spence passed for 239 Yards and 4 TDs in this one. Cory Ferguson had 98 receiving yards and a TD and Jeff Russell caught6 balls for 57 Yards and 3 TDs. On defense Justin Nieves had 3 flag grabs and an INT and Tim Mason had 1 flag grabs with 2 Ints. The Raiders had a good battle in their first game of the day. They struggled moving the ball and had many fumbled snaps and botched plays. Terry Scruse passed for 99 Yards and a TD. He also had 3 interceptions. Eric Bottemly had 1 Catch for 18 Yards and a TD also. #2 on the raiders recorded 7 flag grabs and 1 INT. This was a good game for the Bearcats to regain their confidence. Their offense looked great in spurts. The Raiders are in for trouble in this league. They needed to leave this day with at least 1 win out of their 2 games. They left with 0.

Player of the Game- Jeff Russell- 6 Catches, 57 Yards, 3 TDs
