Regular season for girls just ended yesterday. If coaches don't report their scores it is hard to keep up with updated standings, especially on the girls side. Remember that if you are leading your district it is an automatic invitation, the others have to be invited and we don't know which teams are in.As soon as we obtain the info. from the GMAC we will post the brackets, promise!

Thanks for correcting the dates.

Can you explain? How are teams assigned to the brackets? Is there a formula? Why would the top 2 girls teams, by your rankings, be assigned to the same side of the bracket???

Brackets have nothing to do with our rankings. The GMAC will make the effort of not placing two teams within the same district on the same bracket whenever that's possible.

OK...I see...So there's only 4 teams affected by this logic.
Coral Gables and Miami Beach - 5A-15
Ferguson and South Dade - 5A-16

You switch Ferguson and South Dade in the bracket and you avoid the top 2 teams on the same side. Looks like Ferguson got a break this time around.

What do you think???

The South Dade and Cypress
Bay’s girls’ soccer
teams each enter the final
week of the regular season
with unblemished records.
But they have tough
roads ahead if they are to
make it to state this season
in Class 5A.
Even surviving this
week perfect won’t be
easy.
South Dade (15-0) is
hoping to add three more
wins in this week’s Greater
Miami Athletic Conference
tournament, which is
set to begin Tuesday at
sites around Miami-Dade
County.
South Dade plays Miami
Beach in their quarterfinal
match Tuesday at
home at 3:30 p.m. The
Bucs are vying for their
second GMAC title in the
past three seasons.
Should South Dade prevail
this week, it is hoping to
fare better beyond the conference
title than it did in
2013 when it lost the following
week in the district
semifinal round.
The Bucs have their best
record in school history this
late in the season and enter
next week’s District 16-5A
playoffs as the top seed after
dominating one of
South Florida’s toughest
districts.
The other GMAC quarterfinals
have American
playing Ferguson (10-5-1) at
4 p.m. in the first game of a
doubleheader at Traz Powell
Stadium that will be
followed at 6 p.m. by Miami
Springs (14-1-1) taking
on Dr. Krop. Coral Gables
(15-3) plays MAST Academy
(9-5-2) at Tropical Park
at 3:30 p.m.
If South Dade beats
Miami Beach, it would
play the winner of the
Miami Springs-Krop in
the semifinals at 7 p.m.
Wednesday at Milander
Park. The American-Ferguson
winner plays the
winner of MAST-Coral
Gables at 5 p.m. in the other
semifinal.
The championship
round is set for Friday at 7
p.m. at Milander.

I agree.....but I don't think it was a conspiracy. South Dade has one of the best teams I have ever seen, even when compared to those in the past, such as Lourdes, Springs, Ferguson, Gables and Palmetto . They should be able to do well against any opponent. GMAC is awesome, enjoy it but don't focus too much into it.

Coming off its first GMAC championship a
year ago, the Ferguson girls’soccer team began the defenseof its title in impressive
fashion Tuesday afternoon.
The Falcons scored twice in the first six minutes to set an early tone and dominated the rest of the way in routing American 8-0 in a quarterfinal
matchup at Traz Powell Stadium. Ferguson will take
on Coral Gables in the first of two semifinal games at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Milander
Stadium. Miami Springs edged
Krop 3-2 on a late tiebreaking goal in the doubleheader nightcap at Traz and will
take on undefeated South Dade in the other semifinal at 7 p.m. Ferguson (12-5-1) was definitely in a sharing mood as eight players scored solo goals. Natalie Valderutten started
things off with a goal just four minutes into the contest and, less than 90 minutes
later, Natalie Muñoz finished things off with a
score in the game’s 68th minute to end the contest on the eight-goal mercy rule.
Michelle Moreno, Nicole Bovo, Mariana Ramirez and
Joanna Lopez scored goals in the first half as Ferguson built a 5-0 halftime lead before
Sophia Somardich, Adanna Edwards and Muñoz
wrapped things up with scores in the second half.
“We learned a couple of hard lessons early on this
season and that was that we were hanging back and playing more of a tactical and possession game,” Ferguson Coach Richard Lopez said. “So at this point, coming off a strong finish to our season,
I told them we need to push our pace in order to attack, push everybody up and make the game ours, and that’s what we did out there
[Tuesday]. Once we scored early, we just kept on
scoring.” Miami Springs (16-2-1) was pushed to the brink by an inspired, upset-minded
Krop team. After both teams scored a pair of goals in the first half, the score remained tied at two deep into regulation and appeared headed to
overtime. But with three minutes left, Annet Cea beat her defender down the left side and rifled a perfect centering pass in front of the net
that Sophia Gomez knocked past Krop keeper Brooke
Studnik for the game winner. Krop (12-4-1) was looking for its first berth in the GMAC semifinals.

An earlier post stated that South Dade might be the best team they have ever seen down here?? South Dade is a good team, but we will not know how good until they play a top State ranked opponent. No school since Lourdes in the 2012-2013 season has beaten a quality opponent until yesterday and again it was Lourdes taking down a very good and State ranked Douglas 3-0. That is the first decent win for a Miami team in the past 2 seasons.
Lourdes in 2012-2013 season took down 3 Nationally ranked teams, Cypress Bay, American Heritage Plantation and Palm Beach Central.
Time will tell with South Dade or any other team from Miami.

Don't seem so bitter poster above. HERALD has some merits as SD has to play against some of the toughest teams week in and week out. For SD to be undefeated at this point has its perks. Lourdes plays who in their district? Lourdes is great don't get me wrong but they have a cake walk to get to the show.

No doubt that Lourdes has the easiest District, possibly the weakest 5A district in the state. Lourdes should be the healthiest team going into regionals because of the easy district and the fact that Lourdes does not have to get beaten up in in the GMAC as well. I think that the GMAC really takes a toll on those teams that participate, just days before Districts begin.
Remember that Ferguson was in Lourdes district for 9 years straight and Lourdes never lost on the field of play to them. Gables was in Lourdes district as well and Lourdes never lost to Gables either, even the year Gables won the GMAC.
So, if South Dade and Ferguson stay healthy until Regionals they should stand a good chance to advance to Regional Finals which, as of now, would be against either Cypress Bay or St. Thomas Aquinas.

South Dade is coming off a memorable season for its athletic program in several sports. Its girls’ soccer team is hoping to become the latest
to win a championship. The Bucs continued their
impressive season Wednesday night by scoring twice in the first half to put away
Miami Springs 3-0 in a semifinal of the GMAC tournament at Milander Park. Alyssa Cili, Mackenzie VanHeusen and Johanna Diaz each had goals to continue South Dade’s best start
to a season. “With the team we had
coming back, we expected to be strong,” South Dade
coach Erin Shelow said. “This has just been great
though. These kids keep fighting and playing well.” The Bucs (17-0), the topranked team in Miami-Dade County by the Miami Herald,
will try to win their second GMAC title in the past three seasons Friday when
they play defending tournament champion Ferguson at 7 p.m. The Falcons beat Coral
Gables 2-1 in the earlier semifinal.
South Dade returned 16 players from last season’s
team, and Shelow expected this to be the year that her team could make a push for a
groundbreaking season. The Bucs advanced to regionals last season for only the second time in school history but have never advanced
past the quarterfinal round. On Wednesday, South
Dade struck quickly with two goals in a two minute-span late in the first half. Cili
tapped the ball home with her right foot off a feed from VanHeusen, who later scored her goal off a free kick. Diaz found the back of the
net just before the secondhalf water break for South Dade’s third goal. The Bucs
defense did the rest, keeping Miami Springs without any significant scoring chances.
Shelow credited Baniaand Isa Duran and Brittany
LaRosa for their stellar play
in the midfield as another
key to the Bucs’ success.
Goalkeeper Brittany Hoskins
continued her stellar
play. Hoskins has only given
up four goals in 13 games this
season.
“I hope this gives the team
confidence down the road
with the opponents they will
face,” Shelow said. “Our main
goal was to make a run to
state. We have to keep it
going.”
l GMAC semifinal —
Ferguson 2, Coral Gables
1: Nicole Bovo’s goal in the
52nd minute broke a 1-1 tie at
halftime and lifted the Falcons
to the GMAC final for
the second season in a row.
The goal was set up by Nicole
Valderutten. Michelle Moreno
added a goal, and Nicole
Rafols had an assist. Ferguson
(13-5-1) will try to avenge two
district losses to South Dade
this season when it faces the
Bucs in the final.
