I don't knwo if anyone saw the game, if not you missed an epic battle. THe Falcons were stopped 3 times on the goaline with time running out and lost by six, the last call being extremely controversial as one ref signaled a touchdown and it was waved off. Tough way to lose, but got to give ROchester a lot of credit. They battled with Troy down to literally the final play. I have also heard from many people that they were in the endzone on the final play. Tough to lose on a questionable call. Plus, the refs did not really talk it over, they just sprinted off the field. Either way, great job Falcons!

I was at the game. It was an epic finish, however, no ref signaled a td and the line judge did point to the ground informing where the player was down. His forward progress stopped at the line of scrimmage, therefore, the whistle had blown. Either way, I felt that the coach did a poor job of play calling at the end. Roc had the ball at the 3 with 48 seconds left and no time outs and ran three dives with Hill and he got no yards. A boot would have sealed the game. Roc never tried to pass which would have been better time management. This was also surprising since the Roc passing game was destroying Troy. I did not understand that. Overall, though the officiating was horrible both ways. Too many officials calling penalties that when it wasn't their call. The rule of thumb is no call if it is not impeding the play. I saw this too many times on both sides. The game took forever and it really prevented both teams from playing the game. Roc is a very solid team with some very good athletes. Their passing game is very solid. Bradley is a nice looking QB and the receivers are very good. This team will give the white division everything they can handle and then some. Troy's offense was mediocre at best. Troy's D was above average. Give a lot of props to Roc. They were down 16 - 0 at half and came out punching in the second half. They are a team that doesn't give up. It was a tough way to lose a game.

Appreciate the encouragement. I agree that the refs were awful both ways. There were way too many falgs thrown. I didn't get a very good look at the last play considering i was in the student section. However, i did talk to a few people on the field who were in the play and said the ball clearly crossed the plane. Either way, hard fought game by both teams and both deserve credit.

I was at the game, this is my short version objective analysis. Troy controlled the game completely in the 1st half. Rochester came out throwing in the second half, took momentum and made several very nice plays to keep itself in the game. Troy made every effort to give the game away in the 4th quarter, and almost did. I was sitting at the 40 yard line, and from what I saw I initally thought he was in the final play of the game, but from my angle could not tell for sure. It was very very close and probably could have gone either way.

Troy is going to struggle this year esp early in the season, they lacked cohesiveness and it was easy to see the inexperience from the stands, they will continue to get better week by week and should contend for the playoffs.

Rochester showed they will not give up when things dont go their way. I think they definitley have some athletes who will be tough for anyone to handle. Their quarterback was impressive and throws well on the run and throws a good ball. I think they will be competitve with just about anyone they play.

Looking at the site for the first time this year, I dont think Troy is a top 5 team in the OAA, and I think Rochester is better than 18.

Great write up geralldd. I respect your opinion regarding ranks, which btw were adjusted for week 2 tonight.

I've thought Troy may be a bit over rated myself but I know that it will sort itself out nicely, as it always does.

In any event, could you please give me a look at where you'd have the 2 teams ranked?

Thanks in advance...

That is true it always does sort itself out, and pre-season/week 1&2 are usually the toughest to nail on the head.

I also went to the Adams/Clarkston game so I've only seen the 2 games so far this season. I'm going on past history, my feel for the game, what I saw last year from certain teams, and the little I have seen so far this season.

I think Adams is going to end up being the best team in the OAA.

I am very interested to see L.O. V W.B. this week, I have a feeling WB may have something for them, and you know L.O. doesnt want to start 0-2.

Right now, after Adams, I'd throw L.O., Clarkston & Harrison in a hat for 2-4, after that im unsure about a few teams, but I like WB, SL, Troy, as the teams who are capable of beating anyone at any time, but also losing unexpectedly. I'm not sure about S'field yet.

Who knows... maybe Stoney Creek has gotten over the "hump" this season and can be competitve with the big boys.

We'll know a ton more after this second week.

I think 13 is a much more fitting spot for Rochester, even though I think they will come up short again this week.

Also, dont take what I said as a knock on your rankings, just was giving my honest opinion. We all appreciate what you do and thank you for it.

Great analyisis of the game. I think Rochester will be very tough to beat this year. CAn't wait for Friday because Harrison will be in for a surprise if they don't come out ready to play.

Nice G... looks solid to me, especially when crunch time comes around. Most coaches will tell you it's always crunch time though. Btw no offense taken, good criticism from my angle.
