Haven't heard anything from inside the Raven camp. I wouldn't wait too long gentlemen... pickins are slim out there ~

Nothing official but hearing former Berkley Coach Pat Fox likes this location

Royal Oak has been down for a number of years. However, Coach Hill was able to squeeze out a victory last year. I watched them at their 3-way scrimmage and didn’t think they looked as bad as their record indicated (yes it was only a scrimmage). With their enrollment at north of 1600 students I would expect there has to be some talent that isn’t being tapped. Either the kids aren’t coming out to play because of the “we suck anyway” attitude. With the unfortunate timing of Coach Hill’s leave of absence, a new coach has a great opportunity with Royal Oak dropping all the way down to the blue division. Royal Oak will be the largest school in the blue which may, by sure numbers, help them eke out a win or two. Which in turn my just might get a couple of more kids to come out in future seasons and get the proverbial snowball rolling.

Leaving the Red for the Blue will surely lead to an improved Raven team. Look for at least 2 wins. Early prediction, RO to go 3-6 in 2012/13.

I've heard Royal Oak would like to bring former Raven Head Coaches Terry Powers, Jim Fitzpatrick or Dave Potter back into the fold. Whether they're interested in the position or not is entirely another story. Thoughts?

Paul Stanton with a great staff would be a great fit. Here he has some of the old Berkley staff willing to go with him.

Now that's an interesting possibility... either way, seems to me that Royal Oak and Bloomfield Andover better get busy and hire a Coach.

Royal Oak did not accept his letter of resignation, instead he is on a special leave of absence. His coaching staff is taking over the off-season program and he hopes to be back running the program in the summer. There are articles online regarding this. Here's one: http://royaloak.patch.com/articles/district-works-to-keep-royal-oak-football-coach-jeff-hill-on-the-team

That was true back in Jan but they ended up posting the job. Its open until the 23rd of Feb. Who ever takes over I am sure will keep the turn around that the coach did going as well as keep his family in some way involved in the program. We all hate to see a situation like this happen to anyone let alone a young girl like that.

I should here something this week. I do know that they (admin) are very slow. I believe someone will be named by March 1. It just puts the new staff in a very very hard time crunch. Have to wait and see.

Still no word from the admin. I hear that they might not name a coach until late March or early April. That is so late. Wish the new staff good luck.

Have hired assistant coach from last year. His name is Ryan Irish (from Livonia Clarenceville). They had a meeting with players at the school today and announced it.

Surprised they did not hire anyone in the building, though.

Ryan Irish is a fine man. Former LO JV coach, I believe.. That would've been 15 some odd years ago now. Might have a shot to win some games in the OAA Blue?

Rumor has it that Nate Emery a starter at Lahser last year on defense as a freshman and the back up QB will be transfering to R.O.

OCF, sadly that is not a rumor, but it is confirmed that Nathan Emery will transfer to RO due to the QB situation at Lahser. RO should be happy as this soon to be "Sophomore Stud" should give RO the boost it needs to grow in the OAA blue. As a fan of Lahser, I am upset to hear about this. However, I truly wish the best for Nathan Emery as he'll try to rebuild the football program at RO. Best Wishes to all of the other programs in the OAA blue.

I am not "for sure" on the VERY LOOSELY enforced MHSAA transfer rules but will Mr. Emery be eligible for next season? It's my understanding that he is still at Lahser (finishing the track season) and this transfer is strictly for athletic reasons. It's very sad that he couldn't wait for his time...football can be a brutal sport & everyone knows your always one hit away from becoming the starter...OAA's Sean Clarette & Jake Vento come to mind!!! One had a quality back up- one didn't!

OCF, I believe the MHSAA will allow Nathan Emery to play RO next if and only if he moves addresses. He is trying to be recruited, so this is his only chance to shine. Lahser already has their veteran QB coming back, so I think Nathan Emery wants to play somewhere else. He might be a sophomore next year, but he is one of those players that can actually change the course of the game. He progressively got better every game and he has become very strong.I just hope for the best for him. Not only he is a good player on the field, he is just a solid, well-rounded kid.

Thanks LKF…I understand that Emery is trying to be recruited but he is a very good defensive player and in my opinion would be a better receiver with his speed. Spencer McCourt is the returning junior to be at QB. What is the word around Lahser on McCourt? Is he working hard too or would Emery have a shot at taking the job from McCourt?

OCF, Spencer McCourt is just getting better. He is showing dominance on throwing strength and it looks like he is trying to get faster overall. Not only that, he is a good leader and he influences most people on the team. His natural presents has made the team work harder each and every game. I also would not be surprised if Nathan Emery stayed however. He is a team player and like you said, he can play receiver. He as some good speed on him too. However, there is a lot of time left before the school year ends so we will see what Nathan's real decision. Before he was almost sure to transfer, but who knows???People like Spencer on the varsity roster are really making feel special. Only time will tell if Nathan stays to make a run with Lahser, or he tries to rebuild a school with pride

I have tried to do some digging and in appears that Mr. Emery is flip flopping back and forth. Not sure now if he is staying or going.

He stayed at Lahser and seems to be making an impact. Second in rushing yards and touchdowns in the OAA thru week 3.
