Coach Dewald is a good coach who was able to overachieve (even though Andover didn't win a game) and get the most out of his talent. Seaholm was the only team to really take it to Andover last year. The Lahser game wasn't as close as the score indicated as Andover rallied for 2 late TD's to make it look closer than it really was.

This news is too bad for Andover. However, with the looming Lahser/Andover merger can you blame Coach Dewald? There's not much chance he will be replacing Coach Loria at Lahser. I have only spoken to Dewald one time and he indicated that 2012 would be a tough season with the low numbers and lack of linemen he has returning.

This sucks for Andover especially since this is there last year before the inevitable merger with Lahser. Therefore, if Dewald leaves who would want to come in and be a lame duck for one year? Personally I hope Dewald sees this through for one more year for the sake of the kids he does have.

Either way I would understand…so good luck coach

The Head Coach of the Bloomfield merger will likely be Coach Loria in my humble opinion. I'm sure there will be outside candidates, however, if Loria wants it, I'd say it's his position.

I understand that Coach Dewald is filling the 2012/13 Birmingham Seaholm staff with his former assistant coaches from previous Bloomfield Andover staff. Good luck with that Seaholm.

It's my understanding that some kids have already transferred to Lahser after this setback. Andover better move fast or they won't have any kids to even field a team this year. If I'm not mistaken they are going to open the season with Lahser too. Good luck Barron’s

If that's the case regarding transfers then I look for Andover to combine their Frosh/JV/Varsity simply to field a Varsity team. Looks like the merger can't come soon enough for Bloomfield.

Andover is probably not going to play football in the fall of '12. Like its been said, with the merger hanging over, some students have the chance to play at Lahser next season already. They had trouble fielding a team last year. Most likely, Andover will not play football. Expect a vote and press release sometime before April, when it would become official.

Thanks OAA Dude. I must say, this would not come as a surprise by Andover. Lahser should be in the thick of the 2012/13 OAA Blue title race.

Word I hear now is that Andover will field a team and that Andover's baseball coach will be taking over for the one year before the merger. There will not be a freshman or JV team at Lahser OR Andover but only a Bloomfield High combined freshman & JV team that will utilize Lahser coaching staff and playbook.

OAAscout- Do you really think Lahser will be in the hunt this year? They lost a TON on defense...inlighten us to you reasons?

imho: They should be in the Blue hunt, doubtfully a state title though. They are very strong on O. QB should be a stud. Solid overall work ethic as a team. Outstanding coaching should put them in position. 12/13 class has seen plenty of playing team as a whole. Why don't you believe they'll be there other than losing a solid LB and DB?

Yes there QB is coming back after a strong sophomore season and should only get better. However, if he is on his back he can't throw. They only have one returning starter on the o-line. They have no senior tailback next year only what is coming up from JV. The receiving core should be good but I think the defense is wide open and the D-coordinator I’m told will not be back so that will fall on Loria I assume.
