I cant believe that no one has shared their thoughts of the 1st HS week of football!
Southfield had a valiant effort. Mighty Clarkston was stopped before they could get rolling. Seaholm beat a top team from A2. The weather, macomb v oakland counties...

lets hear it

Thought Oak Park's win was an attention grabber. Watched LO over Oxford...turned interesting w/ the onside kick at the end. Can't wait to see how teams improve from week 1 to 2.

Disappointed by Bloomfield Hills' start. I figured they could be better combining talent from both the high schools.
Is the Rochester Adams of old back? A good win against Clarkston to start things off.
What was up with AA Pioneer? Not taking credit away from Seaholm but they were not at all the formidable opponent everyone expected. Can Seaholm generate enough offense to beat Avondale? To win a playoff game?

Great post... while I have a minute or two I thought I'd join the conversation.

I was most impressed with Oak Park. They dominated the entire 2nd half against Orchard Lake St Mary's and pulled off a 25-20 victory. OAA crossover week 9 should be awesome action!

Regarding the previous comment... In my opinion Rochester Adams never went anywhere. The OAA White is simply loaded every year now days. Big talent! The Highlanders lost some close games last season in one of the strongest leagues in the state. Last week was a great start as they bumped OAA preseason #1 Clarkston. It was a must win for them and they got it done.

Farmington Harrison's rushing attack is strong as ever but their passing game will need to improve dramatically if they hope to advance to the playoffs. The 43-0 victory over Detroit Renaissance was an excellent defensive effort by the Hawks.

Southfield gave Detroit Cass Tech everything they could handle and then some. Turnovers killed the Jays but I like them if they were to meet the Technicians again.

Oxford took it to Lake Orion most of the game and the Dragons stood their ground. Wouldn't a rematch in week 9 be fun to see?

Rochester Stoney Creek is going to be tough for the rest of the OAA Red to deal with. Royal Oak was out gunned all night in the 42-8 week 1 beatdown. Stoney's experience and a multiple attack offense have them looking toward a playoff run.

Auburn Hills Avondale players and their coaching staff seem to be extremely confident following a 42-0 hammering of Redford Union while Birmingham Seaholm is playing down their 24-0 shutout over what many were calling 'a powerful' Ann Arbor Pioneer team. That set's up Friday night's OAA Game of the Week: Birmingham Seaholm at Auburn Hills Avondale.

Rochester, as expected, looked good on both sides of the ball and got a 28-14 win at Utica.

North Farmington's 22-14 victory over Bay City John Glenn should send a message to the rest of OAA Blue that the Raiders are back and ready to make a run at a division title.

Don't be fooled by Troy's 9 point loss at Romeo. I expect them to be in the thick of the OAA Red race.

Did anyone think that Birmingham Groves would drop the hammer on Bloomfield Hills? This result says a lot about both programs heading into the meat of the OAA season.

West Bloomfield surprised a few folks with a weather shortened 39-12 thumping over Jackson. We'll find out a lot more about the Lakers Friday night as they host Clarkston.

Southfield Lathrup had a satisfying 25-23 win against Pontiac but the Chargers get a big test this week as they host #1 Oak Park.

Hazel Park looked very good in a tough 34-30 loss at Madison Heights Bishop Foley.

I must say... Bloomfield Hills disappointed me but not as much as Farmington. The Falcons lost 48-39 at Westland John Glenn and now host Southfield in a week 2 must win battle for both teams.

Ferndale was disappointing as well, losing a more than winnable home game to Livonia Clarenceville.

Berkley got handled 32-14 at home by Redford Thurston and better show solid improvement by Friday as they must travel to North Farmington.
