Not that I'm making early excuses or implying anything else, I have a question concerning this team. Why were they added to our schedule? I know many have ask for a toughr schedule and I include myself in those conversations. But, they are a 5a school and 2 hours away!! I'm quite certain we could have found a quality opponent closer to home. So, I'm sure there is a reason this happened, just would like to know what it is. Looking forward to a great game Friday night.

I answer your question based solely upon the “grapevine story”. Coach B knows their coaching staff or something like that from his days in Jasper. Eastern Greene was a 1A and he wants the boys to see bigger/better teams to help the boys out, come sectional time. I didn’t hear this from Coach B, this is only the rumor!

I think it’s a great chance to see someone new. I don’t know much about them, but they play some good schools so their record may be deceiving. I believe this will be a hard fought game but I believe the Rams will prevail. I would love to see us take on Brownstown during the season again too. I know they have been a thorn in the Rams side for a while but to get better you have to play these quality teams. I understand we are in a conference that hasn’t had much to offer lately. Mitchell, Valley, WW, and Perry have all had their time at the top and like a big circle those teams will be back around. I hope CC sticks it out too, as I’m sure they will have their day too. Selfishly though I don’t want to ever see this ride with the Rams end.

GO RAMS!

I think it is pretty tough to get new teams on your schedule. It isn't as easy as hand picking who you want to play. They have to agree, have an open date, drop a team from their schedule from the previous year, etc... I am not saying coach B. didn't use some connections he has made over the years but either way I think it will be a good thing for our boys. After all teams in our sectional, like Providence get to play teams like this on a week in week out basis so they are pretty tourney ready when it comes sectional time. Win or lose I think we will learn a lot from this weekend. GO RAMS!!!

I am not at all complaining about upgrading the schedule. I just figured we could find 1 a little closer to home. A 2 hour bus ride is exhausting. I assumed it was some connection that coach B had so I would bet your grapevine is accurate. No other logical reason I could think of.

I heard a few years ago that it is very difficult to schedule football, especially in our rural part of the state. Each team has to play all their conference games, and then you only have a few games you have a choice with. I was a little surprised by the North game when I first heard it, but I agree that win or lose, this will definately help come sectional time.

Two hours is a long ride, but not unheard of. Providence has played Evansville teams over the years and the Hoosier Hills conference is pretty wide spread.

As far as the coach B connection, this happens at the college level as well, where coaches who either worked together at one time or came from the same programs try to fit in games with each other.

I see where Reitz barely beat North on Saturday, and Reitz is ranked #4 in 4A, so it will be a big test of where we are right now.

I have a lot of confidence in our kids and coaches. I think we will be prepared to be at our best this weekend. GO RAMS!

Just exactly what does everyone want? We have this team at home this year. Worry about that two hour drive next year. For crying out loud, we can't have every away game close to home. This builds character and strength. Do you expect the state championship to be played sometime at Cook Field? As far as scheduling, get over it. We can't play cupcakes all the time. If you want to be one of the big dogs, you gotta play with them. I'll take my chances and preduct a win this Friday night. Don't assume we're going to lose.

I bet if you asked the players they would tell you that they would look forward to going to an away game such as the North game in Evansville. It gives them a different atmosphere to play and it give them some great experience in playing schools who are larger than us. I think that alot of our fans are complaining about this game not fitting in with their schedule since next year it will be an away game. I believe North will be in their new stadium next year and it is a turf field.

Dutch it is no surprise that hardly nobody gets along with you on here. You have a way of taking a normal discussion and making an argument out of it. The point of my question was: Was there no other teams available or was there some kind of connection between Paoli and North. Plain and simple, that was it.I'm not complaining about the drive whether it be this year or next, i will be there. I was just curious and making conversation since the board had been dead since Friday.

First of all, I'm sorry if you don't like my comments. I don't plan to quit making my comments as long as I stay positive. And I believe my comments about scheduling other teams have proven to be correct. You were the one showing concern about that two hour hard drive that we will have to take. Well, what about the visiting team, North. Do you feel sorry for them. I don't think they will be exhausted, as you say the Rams would be. What other posters have made is correct. You don't just go out and schedule a quality opponent. You have to work with their schedule too. Most schedules are made years ahead. That's the way it works. Who would you want Southridge to give up on their schedule, Jasper? I don't think so.

Now, relax, I make comments that are meant to be informative and being positive towards our team. Sugar coating everything never creates any controversy. That might be the reason that some people don,t like my comments. I'll wager you that my comments are provacative and create some attention when I do make them. I moved to this community two years ago and have grown to like this community and the way they support our local teams. I've seen other programs where I have lived in the past. Some better than ours and some worse. The one thing I have noticed is that every fan has their own opinion. It seems like on this forum, we are all supposed to march to the same beat. Fortunately, I'm not in that parade. What I would say to you or anyone else who doesnt like my posts, don't read them.

Now, go ahead and look forward to your two hour hard drive next year. At least you gain an hour going down. The drive is nice once you get on I-64. Go early and eat somewhere, enjoy going to a place where you have never played before, and learn something from it. I'm sure you're not gonna hear any player complain about the trip.

Dutch, I never once complained about myself having to make the drive. You are reading way to much into my comments and therefore making it arguementative. I was only wondering "WHY EVENSVILLE NORTH"? Was it because it was the only available or was there a connection. Quit putting words in my mouth...

I'll make a deal with you. You don't attack me personally and I'll try not to post comments that you consider argumentative. Agreed. You probably didn't mean anything by it, but to say that no one gets along with me on this forum is personal. I'm sorry if you took things personal about the scheduling. I'm just saying that it's as bad for the visiting team as it is for the Rams to have to travel two hours.

I agree, the North game is a good addition. We all agree that we need a little stiffer competion as we prepare for Sec. I think that the schedual conflicts that you all pointed out is the main reason you haven't seen more quality teams added to our schedual. Also something to consider is that we don't want to play teams in the regular season that we may have to replay in the tourney. I would say that's why we got away from S. Ridge and B-town. But now that B-town has moved up I bet we may try to get them back some time. (just a guess). Any how I look forward to another hard battle that will make our kids better and be alot of fun to watch. GO RAMS

I'm not dumb or "just playing dumb." You obviously don't know when to quit making personal attacks. I tried to reason with you and try to explain what I said. This forum is not about us, it's about this football team. You're the one that is lookng "dumb". You started all this with your comments about scheduling a new opponent. I'm sorry that if I offended you or you thought I was being arguemenative. That was not my point in what I said. If I offended you or anyone else on this forum, then I'm sorry. Now it's up to you to move on or keep this conversation going. I can take it as well as I can give it.

The way scheduling is anymore you basically have to go to a 2-3 year contract with a school if you wanna change your schedule as much as you can....i'm glad we get to play these teams like Evansville North I mean it wasn't that many years ago teams like Southridge were tryin to drop us from the schedule the same way The Rams did with Eastern (Greene)

I am relaxed. When I make a comment and then suddently I am personally attacked by comments such as "dumb" or "just playing dumb", I respond in kind. You might want to direct this comment to some of the other posters on here, namely one. You're right about about contracts with opposing teams. It's normally a two year home and away game and can be renewed or cancelled at the end of the two year series by either teams.

Dutch, I am 1 of the easiest guys in the world to get along with but you push me. 1st, you keep insisting that I am complaining about adding north to the schedule, which I never did. Only wondered why or how they were added. 2nd, you been preaching about how positive you are which is 100% inaccurate. If you look back in the history of this forum, I would wager that you have been the most negative. I am willing to admit that I have been negative also. And I still have doubts about our offensive scheme. People who talk out of both sides of their mouth like you do sicken me. Lets make a deal. In the future if I start a post and you have nothing to say that relates to the context of the post, you don't add to it. I promise to do the same for you. FWI, I told coach B personally that I was looking forward to the road trip to North next year. I have no idea how you come up with the stuff you do.

Deal done! I only ask that you don't make personal attacks like "dumb" or "just acting dumb". You can be asssured that I will never personally attack any poster on this forum. I aplogize to you or anyone else if you think my comments have been negative. There are alot of ways of reading into things, and I am just as bad as anyone else. I try to present a different perspective when making my posts and perhaps what is meant to be positive comes out as negative. This won't happen in the future.

A very interesting read. It is always a rare treat to get an outside perspective of your own team like that. I would consider that a pretty detailed scouting report for the fans point of view, and somewhat for the players, though they have been briefed on the X's and O's in more detail. After all the different self evaluations on this forum and in in the community, it is good to see a different and impartial point of view... not saying the comments on here are wrong or right... just different.

We have our work cut out for us tonight. GO RAMS!
