Match number two of the 2006 JAGS Invitational had the Plainedge Blasters coming back with a ninety minute break against the always tough Arsenal/World Class Hawks. World Class came out firing on all offensive cylinders scoring three times in the opening ten minutes en route to a 4-0 win.
The scoring opened in the fourth minute on a left side attack that was completed on a hard shot from outside the eighteen. Two minutes later, a set play from approximately forty yards was dropped over the Blasters defensive trap. The referee ruled that the play was onside despite the Hawks forward literally stopping on the field. Nonetheless, the resulting scoring rush was completed for a 2-0 World Class lead. A World Class corner kick was headed home in minute ten and we were suddenly staring at a 3-0 gap. Jen tried to pick the team up in the fifteenth minute as she broke inside the six but her shot was saved with an outstretched kick save by the Hawks's keeper.
Regrouping at the half, the quality of play was good, with the only goal coming on a dropped ball by Sara that was played home by World Class to close the game at 4-0.
The loss placed Plainedge into third place with a Sunday consolation match scheduled with the Colonial Premier League's Stronghold SSC Milan.
