Cards' Gibbard Throws Complete Game in 10-7 Win Over Orioles
VAN NUYS, Calif., March 12 — The Christmas Bail Bonds Cardinals (1-1) flew to a 10-7 victory against the Valley Orioles (1-1) at Grant High School in Van Nuys.
Cardinals starting pitcher Ben Gibbard (1–0) went the distance, earning his first win and complete game of the season.
The Cardinals sprung out to an early 3-2 lead in the first inning, adding another five runs in the top of the second and then two more in the fourth.
The Orioles attempted to chisel back by adding two runs in the third and one run each in the fifth, seventh and ninth innings.
On deck: The Orioles host the Burbank Royals (1–0) at Narbonne HS on March 19. The Cardinals visit the Glendale Dodgers (1–1) at San Fernando HS on March 19.
