Four-Run Eighth Lifts Orioles Over Cardinals in 8-5 Win
SOUTH PASADENA, Calif., July 16--The Valley Orioles (7–8–2) won its second consecutive game and its first of the season against the Christmas Bail Bonds Cardinals (7–10) in an 8–5 win at South Pasadena High School.
O's starting pitcher Kevin Bronson (4–0) also continued his winning ways, throwing his second straight complete game victory, his third of the season.
Solid pitching from Bronson and Cardinals starter Greg Frey--and a clutch defensive play from O's leftfielder Michael Nicodemus--helped keep the game close for seven innings.
Gary Cozine's leadoff triple in the top of the eighth inning sparked a four-run rally for the Orioles, splitting a 4–4 tie that had lasted since the fifth inning.
