Brito fires shutout to win pitcher's duel
The Pirates advanced due to Rich Brito's complete game 6 hit shutout and errorless defense to top the Diablos and Greg Rogers, 2-0. The Pirates go on the board in the top of the 1st thanks to a two out double that Mike Pedote ripped to the gap in left center to score Antone Henley. That would be all the scoring until the 8th when a bases loaded hit by pitch added an insurance run. Greg Rogers tossed a 3 hitter for the Diablos with 7 K's in a terrific pitcher's duel. The play of the game was in the top of the 8th with the bases loaded with Pirates and one out and Rogers fielded a comebacker to get the force at the plate and catcher Jason Perez fired to 1st for the inning ending double play. Mike Pedote led the Pirates with 2 hits to go along with Dennis Oliver single and a run scored. Great game all around, hats off to the Diablos for a great season.
