Brewers Top Toros In Season Opener, 11-5
The Valley Brewers opened the 2015 summer season in fine fashion, with strong pitching, timely hitting, and errorless defense.
Adam Schulhofer got the win and Eddie Mercado earned the save, while the offense backed them with 23 hits. Schulhofer, Matt Trites and Jim Fier led the parade with four hits apiece, while Eric Cain and Chris Gauthier each contributed three. The solid defense was highlighted by Rob Bumgarner and Matt Trites, each with a webgem, but the entire defense was rock-solid.
Despite weather reports calling for a midgame thunderstorm and menacing, dark clouds hovering above, Mother Nature kept the rains at bay until the game was completed.
