Junger Outlasts Romano in Pitcher's Duel

The Hurricanes (6-4) bounced back on Sunday to avenge their Wednesday loss to the RoughRiders (8-4) and take the season series two games to one. Dan Romano and Lucas Junger were both scoreless through 5, until an error-filled inning lost it for the RoughRiders in the 6th.

For the Hurricanes, Darin Walden was the hero going 2-3, and he had the game winning hit in the bottom of the 6th. Mike Caputo had a hit and stolen base, and Matt Madensky also added a hit. The Hurricanes also own the tiebreaker over the RoughRiders, so they would clinch a playoff bye in the following circumstances:

- 2 more wins and a RoughRiders loss on Wednesday to the Shockers
- Winning their remaining 3 games

For the RoughRiders, Joe Prevost was the lone bright spot going 2-3 with a double and a stolen base. Kyle Dulock had the only other hit on the day. This marks the first time that the high-powered RoughRiders offense has even been shutout. They will look to end their regular season on a high note Wednesday night and give the Shockers their first loss of the season.
