Squires win shootout to even season series at 1 apiece
South Pasadena High School proved to be a perfect setting for a run-scoring bonanza between the Glendale Dodgers and the LA Squires. The Dodgers pushed 3 across in the top of 1st, only to have the Squires answer with 4 of their own in the bottom half of the frame. Then, Squires pitcher Vinnie Consolo settled down and kept the Dodgers off the board for the next few innings, while the Squires piled up runs. The Dodgers never gave up, however, and they pulled to within 2 runs late due in large part to patient hitting mixed with lousy Squires pitching. The Squires got it together late to pull away, though, with Jonathan Lane leading the charge, going 4-4, with three extra-base hits. Overall, a great game played by both teams.
