Angels Come From Behind to Win in Tenth!
The Angels scored 3 quick runs in the first to take a 3-0 lead, but gave them back on some sloppy defense in the third, then rallied for 3 more in the fourth to make it 6-3. Charles Blakey bunted to start the fifth and scored as the Reds made 3 throwing errors to move him around the bases. A true little league home run! Starter Lee Frankel tired in the eighth, hitting a batter to score a run. Lorenzo Ramos relieved (for his first mound appearance in 6 months) and came in throwing gas. He gave up a hit and walked a batter setting the stage for Greg Whittaker to pinch hit with bases loaded and 1 out. Whit lined a first pitch fastball into right to tie the score at 7. Victor Reyes retired the Angels in order in the 8th and 9th, sending the game into extras. The Reds scored one in the 10th to take an 8-7 lead. But the Angels came back in the bottom as Edwin Bonilla got a one out single, stole second to get into scoring position and scored the tieing run on Brian Combs base hit with 2 outs. Blakey and Mark Freeman both walked to load the bases and Combs scored from third on a single to right by Sean Monahan to plate the winning run.
Multi hit games for Sean Monahan (2-5), Steve Acevedo (3-4), Tim Hopkins (2-4), Ryan Davis (2-4), and Charles Blakey (2-3).
On the hill, Frankel goes 7 2/3 and leaves with the scored tied. Lorenzo Ramos came in with 2 outs in the eighth, gave up a walk and a hit in the eighth, but struck out the side in the ninth to keep it close. He surrenders one run in the tenth, but gets the win as the Angels scored 2 in the bottom of the tenth to win it.
