Tiger Comeback!

The main reason the Tigers won today is they didn?t quit.

They easily could have.

The defense played well at times, but also made way too many mistakes.

The offense did well too, but made too many mental errors and base running blunders that cost them the opportunity to score many more.

And the Lightning came out with a solid game plan? and executed it. Jerry Aebi again was terrific on the mound for the Yellow and Black.

Even more, they also smacked the ball around the field like the Tigers hadn?t seen this year. Every time the Cats fought back from a deficit, the Lightning reopened it.

With all that, it would?ve been easy to cash it in for the season. But the team stuck together and encouraged each other through every trouble spot.

The fans could tell it was going to be a wild day when the Lightning grabbed 2 right out of the box, but the Tigers took 3 back in the bottom of the first.

It would be a while before the Cats saw the lead again. With 11 hits and a few Cat errors, the Lightning quickly retook the lead and built it to 8-3 going into the bottom of the 5th.

But the Tiger bats then came alive in the bottom of the 5th, plating 4 with the last 2 on a slashing single up the alley by Jeremy Hartman, who was then cut down at 2nd by a fantastic throw from the Lightning CF. Still one run shy at 8-7.

The Lightning didn?t like that so they added 3 in the top of the 6th. 11-7

The Tigers fought back with 3 in the bottom of the 6th. But they still left 2 more on base! 11-10.

The Lightning figured they kneaded to put it away. A bases clearing double by Casas made it 14-10. The Tigers looked cooked.

Yet they rallied again, scoring 5 in the bottom of the 7th and last frame, the winning run with 2 out on a bases-loaded hard grounder deap in the whole that Hartman bearly beet out.

Clutch Tiger hitters: Everyone. Especially Stefan Marks on base 5 times with 4 rbi?s. Troy Combs on base 4 times. Chris Bishop 3 runs and 2 doubles. Sean Donnellan 2 rbi?s and a double. Hartman with 3 hits and 3 rbi?s. And perpetual offensive star, Don Bixby Jr. with another 4 hits.

The Cats want to congratulate the Lightning? You played your guts out. It was a brutal game. Every one of you should feel good about your effort.
