Brewers Head To Championship Game With 4-2 Win Over Tigers
Although outhit by the Tigers, 4-3, the Brewers were also out-errored by the Tigers, 6-3, which was the key difference in a tight game. Brewers ace, Greg Bertrand, celebrated his birthday with a complete game victory, yielding no earned runs, while striking out nine. Raul Verdecia's 2 RBI single in the fourth inning was the decisive hit.
The Tigers pitcher, Don Bixby, also went the distance and held the Brewers to three hits. Tigers 2nd Baseman, Stefan Marks, made the defensive play of the game, going into short-center to make a terrific over-the-shoulder catch.
