Braves turn tables & shutout Indians in championship rematch
The game was scoreless until the top of the 4th when Steve Gartland was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to give the Braves a 1-0 lead. The Braves used another hit batter, a walk, and a 2-out RBI single by Dean Weikel to extend the lead to 2-0 in the 5th. The Indians threatened with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th by loading the bases without a hit, but Dave Snell got a ground out to 3rd to end the game and collect the save. Four Braves pitchers, led by Chris Kiehl (4 IP, 3 H, 6 K), combined for the 5-hit shutout. The Indians Ryan Scott was 2 for 2 in a losing cause.
