As much as I hate losing, I was happy with the way the team competed. Coming in to this tournament I thought we would have trouble because we didn't get the chance to practice as a team as much as I thought was necessary and I think some of that lack of chemistry was evident in our play. I don't like to offer up excuses but I believe we played the two best teams in the tournament, and not counting our first game, likely cost us a chance to compete in the playoff round. The way the schedule was set up was sort of stupid when all the better teams were put in one division and so many of the weaker teams were placed in divisions together. One thing the boys learned was how hard they need to compete against the better teams to win games. Yesterday against the devils we had a referee wave off a goal and then the top side ref say it was good, and last night we score a goal and the ref waves it off. Those two goals make a huge difference in both games. We know what we need to do to be a better team and once we get the opportunity to skate together as a team for a few weeks we will solve the chemistry issue and get better on our zone entries and exits. I hope everyone enjoys their summer and does some fun stuff. Once we get back together in mid-August we won't get many weekends off, so enjoy the free time now. Oh, by the way, the refs last night were horrible! That little guy is always terrible and he tossed me in OT because I told him he was embarrassing himself with the way he was calling the game. I need to show more restrained leadership on the bench, but that guy always gets under my skin because he is so incompetent.
