The Commack Blasters came to the field for this 7:10pm fixture with a workman-like effort as they outhustled the Eastchester Patriots in a 2-1 second game victory. The win gave the Blasters a share of the bracket lead heading into Sunday's final opening round match.

The focused effort paid dividends in the third minute as Katie slotted a ball from the right side inside the left post in minute three. Liz slotted the ball to Katie from her central midfield position. In minute twelve, Eastchester had their best chance of the half. From what appeared to be an off-side position, an Eastchester break away was saved by Sara at the top of the box, the subsequent rebound shot hit the post, and Briana was on the spot to clear the ball far and wide. The match went to the half at 1-0.

A twenty-third minute corner kick in the second half by Nicky was headed home by Liz to widen the gap to 2-0. The Patriots scored in the final minute from about eighteen yards on a shot to the upper right corner on a play that the defensive unit stopped playing as the ball was seen as off-side. That closed the scoring at 2-1 as the ensuing kickoff closed the game.

This game was another great effort from the entire squad and positioned the team for a potential semi-final bid heading into the second day of action.
