Strong First Half Wilts Late Under Heat with Short RosterMatch number two in the Red Division Top Flight of the 2007 JAGS Invitational Tournament saw the Commack Blasters tackle the Arsenal World Class Hawks. With an unexpected fifteen different college coaches circling the field during the two halves, the Hawks strong second half performance turned back the Blasters strong first half performance, 3-1.
Commack opened the scoring in the sixteenth minute as LB played a fine cross to the right side that was handled by Carly. She beat a Hawks defensive player near the touch line to send a strong cross into the box. Saulty placed the resulting header solidly into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead that stood through halftime. World Class leveled the score in the second half's eighth minute as the hard-working defense left a ball rattling in our box just too long which eventually was placed into the net for a 1-1 tie. Both teams had chances to follow with the Hawks taking the lead in minute nineteen. Commack played an aggressive offensive attack to get the equalizer, but World Class countered with five minutes remaining to close the score at 3-1.
