Incredible weather with temperatures in the lower seventies greeted the teams for the 2008 PDA Girls College Showcase at the PDA Fields in New Jersey. The opening alignment featured Katie, Taryn, Nicky, and Mere across the midfield with backline support from Campy, Liz, Alyssa, and Brooke. The 4-4-2 alignment used in this match included both Ashley and Saulty to start. Caroline Bond guested for Commack between the pipes during the tournament.

Despite balanced pressure from both teams, Syracuse scored first in the twenty-fourth minute as Alyssa was sheilding a ball along the back touchline and was fouled from behind. The lack of a call allowed the Syracuse offensive player to have a shot from about ten yards out that slid inside the far post for a 1-0 advantage. In the second stanza's twentieth minute, that lead doubled as a corner kick was played short to an oncoming defender about twenty-five yards out. The resulting shot was high and into the far side netting for a game closing 2-0 score.
