The Commack Blasters headed north to Saratoga Springs, New York for the 2008 Shenentaha Mad Dog Mania College Showcase to close the Spring 2008 and GU/17 season. Under very humid conditions with temperatures near eighty-six degrees at game time, the Commack Blasters defeated the Nova SC Northstars in an excellent offensive and defensive effort by a final score of 2-1.

Three minutes into the match, Jen sprinted free from her left midfield spot and her shot was saved. In minute ten, Meredith let a rocket blast from the left side that was pushed wide by the Nova keeper. Eighteenth minute action had Tori pepper the keeper from the right side as her effort was pushed over the net. Finally, the deadlock was broken in the nineteenth minute as Alyssa worked her way through the Nova defense for a 1-0 opening score. First half defensive pressing from LB, Campy, and Meghan kept pressure off Carolyn Bond (just joined the Commack roster) in keeper. Midfield action from Liz, Nicky, Taryn, and Katie was dominant as Commack played a possession game. Saulty made several near post runs in the first half that just missed opening a big lead.

In the second twenty-seven minute stanza, Nova was called offside in minute seven on their best scoring opportunity to that point with Stephanie playing net. Commack earned a penalty kick in minute fourteen which Kiersten placed centrally and was saved by the Nova keeper. Katie served a corner kick to Campy in the twenty-second minute that was placed home from the left side over the keeper into the upper right ninety to double the lead at 2-0. Nova countered in the next minute for the game's closing score at 2-1.

Attending this match were coaches from SUNY/Oneonta, SUNY/Oswego, SUNY/Buffalo, Skidmore, SUNY/Morrisville, Brandeis, Emmanuel, Mount Saint Mary's, SUNY/Plattsburgh, SUNY/Cortland, Southern Vermont, College of Saint Rose, SUNY/New Paltz, and Hamilton.
