The Michigan Blue Knights established a great weekend of baseball by winning the 2018 6th Annual Wolves Michigan Mayhem Tournament (RED DIVISION) at Founders Park in Farmington Hills, MI.
In the first game, the Michigan Blue Knights took home a 5-2 victory over Dearborn Revolution on Saturday.
Kyle Caulford led things off on the hill for the Blue Knights. He surrendered two runs on zero hits over four innings, striking out four. Ahman Crews went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Blue Knights in hits.
In the second game, the Michigan Blue Knights fell behind early in an 0-8 loss the 14U Titans lead by Coach Marcus.
Ian McAvoy was on the pitcher's mound for the Blue Knights. McAvoy surrendered three runs on six hits in four innings, striking out four and walking one. Corey Bell threw two-thirds in relief out of the bullpen.
The Titans collected nine hits while committing no errors on defense to secure the win.
However in the playoff round the Blue Knights would face the Titans in a rematch, winning 6-3. Corey Bell toed the rubber for the Blue Knights surrendering two runs on one hit, over four innings, striking out three. Bell also went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Blue Knights in hits, moving the Blue Knights to the championship game versus the Michigan Nationals.
The Blue Knights would run off with the lead late in a 7-2 victory over the Michigan Nationals on Sunday. The game was tied at two with the Blue Knights batting in the top of the fifth inning when Griffin Huneke doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
The Michigan Nationals captured the lead in the second inning. Jamar Respress's wild pitch allowed one run to score for the Michigan Nationals. The Blue Knights evened things up at two in the top of the fourth. Kyle Caulford's sac fly scored one run for the Blue Knights.
Respress toed the rubber for the Blue Knights. He allowed five hits and two runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out seven. Ian McAvoy went 2-for-3 to lead the Blue Knights in hits. The Blue Knights did not commit any errors in the field in the championship game to clinch the victory.
