The Humber Valley Oldtimers Hockey League wrapped up another unforgettable season as the Bruins captured the 2025–26 HVOT Championship in a hard-fought final that showcased the league’s trademark blend of skill, intensity, and camaraderie.

From the opening puck drop, the Bruins set the tone with disciplined play and relentless pressure. Their path to the championship was anything but easy, as they battled through a competitive playoff field that saw every team bring its best effort to the ice. Each round tested their depth, resilience, and ability to execute under pressure, qualities that ultimately defined their championship run.

A rare double shutout night

In the championship game, the Bruins delivered a dominant performance, defeating the Stars 3–0 to secure the title. Their structured defensive play and timely scoring proved to be the difference, as they controlled the pace of the game and limited the Stars’ offensive opportunities.

The Stars delivered a strong performance throughout the playoffs and proved to be a formidable opponent in the final. Their speed and offensive creativity kept pressure on the Bruins, but they were ultimately unable to break through in the championship matchup.

The Blackhawks also made an impressive showing this postseason, earning a third-place finish with a 2–0 victory over the Jets. Their determination and consistency were evident throughout the playoffs, highlighting the overall competitiveness of the league this season.

This year’s playoffs, which ran through March and into early April, were marked by close games, standout individual efforts, and strong team performances across the board. Every team contributed to a postseason that reflected the spirit of the HVOT community, where competition is matched by respect and a shared love of the game.

As the season comes to a close, the league now turns its attention to the annual banquet, where players, teams, and supporters will gather to celebrate the accomplishments of the year. The event provides an opportunity to recognize not only the champions, but also the sportsmanship, dedication, and community that define the HVOT experience.

Congratulations to the Bruins on a well-earned championship, and to all teams for another outstanding season. The bar has been set high, and anticipation is already building for what promises to be another exciting year of HVOT hockey.
