CASL/Raleigh Shootout Tournament Closes Two Year Showcase Tour

December 7, 2008
The Commack Blasters completed their Fall 2008 college showcase tour at the 2008 CASL Raleigh Shootout Showcase. The Blasters competed in the GU/19 Elite Azul bracket. After an opening game 3-2 victory over the Colorado Storm North 91 Copa (Colorado), the Blasters dropped their next two matches including a 6-1 loss to the Clearwater Lightning Premier (Florida) and a 5-2 decision to the Livonia SC United (Michigan). Rain Shortened Top Flight at National Elite Women's Soccer Showcase

The Commack Blasters played in the rain shortened 2008 National Elite Women's Soccer Showcase on Saturday, November 29th and Sunday, November 30th. After posting a 1W-1L-0T (3 Points) record on opening day, rains came earlier than expected and suspended Sunday's action in the GU/18 NEWSS Elite Flight. Winning Record in Shenentaha Showcase Closes GU/17 Season

June 29, 2008
The Commack Blasters played to a winning record (2W-1L-0T, 6 Points) in the non-results reporting 2008 Shenentaha Mad Dog College Showcase held in Saratoga Springs, New York. The Blasters earned an opening match victory, 2-1, over the Nova SC Northstars from the Maple Soccer League's first premier division. Heavy rains suspended match number two against the Capital United Blue Angels. The Commack Blasters controlled the Syracuse Football Club with a 4-0 win in match number three. Meanwhile, a short roster and heavy conditions proved to be a tough opponent in addition to the Mamaroneck Panthers in a closing game 5-2 loss. College coaches from SUNY/Oneonta, SUNY/Oswego, SUNY/Buffalo, Skidmore, SUNY/Morrisville, Brandeis, Emmanuel, Mount Saint Mary's, SUNY/Plattsburgh, SUNY/Cortland, Southern Vermont, College of Saint Rose, SUNY/New Paltz, Hamilton, William-Smith, Hartford, and others attended our matches.

JAGS Invitational Tournament Top Bracket Semifinalist Finish

June 15, 2008
The Commack Blasters delivered an excellent performance at the 28th Annual JAGS Invitational Tournament in Central New Jersey resulting in a 1W-1L-1T (4 Points) record against top regional premier teams from the area. Despite an opening match bracket cross-over 2-0 loss to Howell United, the Blasters controlled their own fate heading into the second day's action with a 1-0 victory over the Clifton Stallions. On Sunday, an exceptional match against the Arsenal/World Class Hawks resulted in a 1-1 draw and Commack earning the semifinalist position. PDA College Showcase Final Appearance Shows Solid Results

May 26, 2008
The Commack Blasters competed in the GU/17 Gold Bracket at the 2008 PDA Girls College Showcase in New Jersey from Saturday, May 24th through Monday, May 26th. An opening day split combined a 2-0 loss to Syracuse with a 3-1 victory over the Wall Power. Second day action resulted in a late game 2-1 loss to the YMS Speed Demons. The closing match on Memorial Day saw the South Jersey Barons Banshees take a 1-0 game over the Blasters on an opening minute score. The Commack Blasters competed in the 2008 Jefferson Cup Showcase Tournament in Richmond, Virginia and while the group play results in our GU/17 Premier Orange Flight were disappointing on the scoreboard, very targeted coaching traffic was at the fields for our three matches. The most exciting news was that the Commack Blasters have received their fifth NCAA Division One roster position offer. CASL Raleigh Shootout Showcase Bracket Championship

The Commack Blasters played excellent soccer at the 2007 CASL Raleigh Shootout Showcase resulting in a 2W-1L-0T (6 points) record which won the bracket championship in the GU/17 Maroon Flight. The tournament featured an inspired 2-0 victory over the Montgomery SC Santos and a late game 1-0 victory against the Colorado Storm North Copa. After two days, the Commack Blasters had locked the bracket before an entertaining 3-2 loss against the Virginia Rush Nike. The entire showcase results are now available on-line for your reference.

Solid Coaching Attendance at 2007 NEWSS Showcase

November 25, 2007
The Commack Blasters finished with an overall record of 1W-2L-1T (4 points) in the 2007 National Elite Women's Soccer Showcase in the NEWSS Cup Flight for an overall fifth place finish. After an opening round 3-2 loss against the Aztec Premier 90, the Commack Blasters rebounded with a 2-0 nightcap win on Saturday against the CUFC squad from Connecticut. Action on Sunday reignited local competition as the Albertson 90 Fury defended their 2007 State Cup title in a 3-0 win. In the fourth and final match, a newly merged Sachem Blazers and Stonybrook Xtreme squad, playing under the Sachem banner, faced off against the Blasters for a scoreless draw.

WAGS Premier Invitational Sees Heavy Coaching Attendance

The Commack Blasters competed in the 2007 WAGS Premier Tournament "A" Flight at Muldoon's Farm/Summerhill Fields in Maryland. Thirty-six GU/17 teams from across the United States played in the event and the complete tournament schedule have been published. A huge list of coaches attending saw the Blasters attract nearly three dozen schools to view our players. Outstanding play was seen by coaches from St. John's, Georgetown, New Jersey Institute of Technology, South Carolina, Western Carolina, James Madison, Navy, Providence, North Carolina State, Virginia Tech, Drexel, Florida State, West Virginia, Emory, Loyola, Tennessee, Delaware, Davidson, Long Island University, Frostburg, the Citadel, Brandeis, Johns-Hopkins, Gettysburg and others.

East Meadow Covanta Cup Semifinalist Placement Opens Season

August 26, 2007
The Commack Blasters were named 2007 East Meadow Covanta Cup Tournament semifinalists after group play including a 1-0 win over the Bayside United Flames, a 2-0 loss to the East Meadow Dynamite, and a 2-0 win over the Patriots FC 92. The 2W-1L-0T (6 points) group play record earned the Commack Blasters the wildcard berth in the final four along with three GU18 teams : East Meadow Dynamite, Auburndale Strikers, and Albertson Milan Fury. Seaside Classic Championship Caps GU/16 Season

July 9, 2007
The Commack Blasters won four straight matches to capture the Fifteenth Annual South County Seaside Classic top flight Championship in Kingston, Rhode Island. The five team Seaside I flight schedule saw the Blasters defeat the Middletown Foundation SC (CT), Northeast United (CT), Rams SC Fortuna (RI), and Shenentaha Mad Dogs (NYE) in our GU/16 Season Finale. Top Regional Competition in Red Division at 2007 JAGS Invitational

The Commack Blasters played three quality opponents in the Red Division (top flight) of the 2007 Jersey Area Girls Soccer Premier Invitational Tournament. Each match saw the Blasters tied or leading at halftime, but seven second half goals over our group play games resulted in a record of 0W-3L-0T. Second Place in 2006 MAPS/MSSL Showcase Tournament's Ruby Flight

December 3, 2006
The Commack Blasters finished their Fall season in the 2006 MAPS/MSSL Winter College Showcase Tournament's GU/16 Ruby Flight recording a final record of 1W-1L-2T and earning second place awards. Following an opening match 3-1 win over the Wall Power (NJ), the Commack Blasters drew with the Laurel Wildcats (MD). A third game 1-0 loss to the familiar Stonybrook Xtreme (NYE) was followed by a second tournament scoreless draw with the Baltimore Bays 90/91 (MD) resulting in the second place result.

NEWSS Tournament Finalists with Wins Over Region One Teams

The Commack Blasters were pleased to be among the twelve teams named in the 2006 National Elite Women's Soccer Showcase held on Saturday, November 25th and Sunday, November 26th on Long Island. The exceptionally talented field was grouped into four brackets of three teams (click here for all schedules). The Blasters qualified for the semi-finals based on their two wins in group play, both 1-0 victories over Blackwatch Nirvana and Connecticut United CUFC. Following a 2-1 semi-final win over the defending 2006 State Cup Champion Albertson 90 Fury, the Commack Blasters fell to the Rockville Centre Tornadoes in the Championship Match, 2-1, the first loss of the Fall 2006 season and the first in eighteen consecutive matches.

Two Draws in Rain Shortened Bethesda Tournament Chesapeake Flight

November 12, 2006
The Commack Blasters recorded a pair of hard-fought draws in the GU/16 Chesapeake Flight at the 2006 Bethesda Premier Invitational Tournament. Following an opening game clean sheet against the YMS Speed Demons, Commack surrendered their first goal in 329 minutes against the Bethesda Sharks in a controversial closing minute 1-1 draw. Perfect Five-For-Five Record Wins Top Flight

The Commack Blasters are champions of the GU/16 Gold Flight, the top flight, at the 2006 Kirkwood Premier Frederick Cup Soccer Tournament following their perfect five win performance. Key wins included decisions over the Stonybrook Xtreme, 4-0 in the semi-finals and the Spirit United Surge, 1-0 in golden goal overtime in the Championship Finals. Ten goals-for during the five matches were coupled to only two goals-against and three quality shutouts to pace this premier tournament victory. Covanta Cup Performance Earns Honors at East Meadow Tournament

August 27, 2006
The Commack Blasters were honored to be selected as the only GU/16 team to participate in the inaugural GU/19 Covanta Cup High School Division at the 2006 East Meadow Ref-Fuel Tournament. An outstanding first day performance included a tie with the East Meadow Shooting Stars and a win over the Eastchester Patriots. The 1W-0L-1T (4 Points) record placed the Blasters in control of their own destiny with a possible second day semi-final tournament berth. Unfortuntely, bad weather conditions cancelled the Sunday games, leaving the Blasters with a share of their bracket's first place and based on the tournament rules, a semifinalist designation although those games would be left unplayed. PDA Showcase : Group Play Third, Overall Fifth Place in Premier Bracket

The Plainedge Blasters finished their GU/15 Premier Bracket in fifth place from eight teams at the 2006 PDA Girls College Showcase. Supporting an overall record of 1W-2L-1T, the Blasters recorded seven goals from six different scorers while yielding the same number in four games. The bracket was tight with just a couple of goals making the difference between finals and consolations. The Blasters third game, a 1-0 loss against the eventual tournament champion Reston FC Netforce, was a pivotal game in this tournament. Full tournament results are now available. The Plainedge Blasters parlayed two impressive wins over the Arsenal World Class Hawks (NJ) and Richmond Kickers Premier (VA) into a third place finish at the 2006 Match Fit Academy Invitational. The CUFC Wildcats and Rochester Junior Rhinos Elite battled for the top two places in the tournament's Bracket One flight following the Blasters dropping those two matches on day two. Six goals-for and six goals-against were balanced as was our overall 2W-2L-0T (6 points) (click for standings) final record. Eleven Goals, One Against Pace Title

The Plainedge Blasters were undefeated in winning the GU/15 Tournament at the Soccer Coliseum on Sunday, January 29th. Goals from Katie, Gina, Alyssa, Jen (twice, assisted by Nicole), Liz, and Sara paced a 7-0 victory over the Manhattan Twisters (0W-3L-0T) in the opening match. Liz scored in the twenty fourth minute of match number two as the Blasters defeated the tenacious Valley Stream Power (2W-1L-0T) by a 1-0 score. The Arsenal Strikers (1W-1L-1T) scored at the midpoint of the third match, but Liz fed Saulty with five minutes remaining to salvage the 1-1 tie and the championship round match. In Group II, the Yorktown Amazons (2W-0L-1T) took the top placement, followed by the Stonybrook Xtreme (1W-1L-1T), Mamaroneck Panthers (1W-2L-0T), and Albertson 91 Fury (1W-2L-0T). In the championship event, it took twenty-four minutes and several close calls, but Gina pivoted and scored as center forward to open the lead. Saulty scored two minutes later to secure the championship 2-0 win over the Yorktown Amazons. Defensively, the team was at its best today letting very few opportunities cross into the box.

Second Place Awards in GU/15 Premier Indoor Event
Match with World Class Hawks Determines Title

January 14, 2006
The Plainedge Blasters earned second place medals for their 3W-1L-0T Soccer Coliseum performance in the GU/15 Premier Bracket. Goals from LB and Gina bookended one from the Mamaroneck Panthers (0W-2L-2T) in an opening round 2-1 victory. Match number two was a 2-0 win over Region One Premier League qualifier Howell Eclipse (0W-2L-2T) on goals from Meredith served by Gina and Gina on an assist from Liz. Our third match turned out to be for the championship and the World Class Hawks (4W-0L-0T) had the only goal in the contest in the tenth minute serving the Plainedge Blasters with their only loss, 1-0. The final contest against the Yorktown Amazons (0W-2L-2T) was a 4-1 win starting on a third minute goal by Liz served by Gina. Nicky scored from Alyssa midmatch and Saulty scored on an assist from Katie five minutes later. Liz closed the scoring in the nineteenth minute unassisted. Eight goals-for and only three goals-against demonstrated the strong offensive and defensive efforts of the entire team throughout the evening.

Winning Record in East Meadow Ref-Fuel Gold "Premier" Bracket

The Plainedge Blasters compiled an outstanding record of 2W-1L-2T (8 Points) in the GU/15 Gold Division of the 26th Annual Edition East Meadow Ref-Fuel Tournament. Victories over the eventual tournament champions, the Albertson 90 Fury, and the Sachem Blazers placed the Blasters in a great position throughout the weekend's tournament. The three-way, eight-point tie for second place was decided on bonus points which favored the Stonybrook Xtreme over the Rockville Centre Tornadoes and Plainedge Blasters. Group Play Record Misses Finals in 2005 TWIST Division I Bracket

The Plainedge Blasters opened the 2005/2006 GU/15 season at the Wallingford, Connecticut TWIST Tournament. An excellent group of MAPLE Premier Soccer teams joined the competitive Division 1 bracket. Despite an opening round win against Western United, consecutive losses to tournament champion Nova SC Northstars and semi-finalist Crusaders United left the Blasters with a 1W-2L-0T (3 points) group play record and therefore missing the championship round games.

An opening game loss to our group semi-final qualifier, the Tri-Valley Eagles from the MAPLE Premier League, was followed by great efforts against Bruno United and Oakwood Premier, the Group I semi-finalists. Eight goals from five different scorers coupled with numerous assists built on a nice possession game demonstrated throughout this premier event. The Plainedge Blasters proudly received their second place medals following an outstanding effort in the GU/15 Bracket at the Soccer Coliseum in Teaneck, New Jersey. The opening match against the Ocean Elite (NJ) (0W-3L-0T) saw Hannah score in the third minute while serving Meredith on a fine cross in the twentieth minute to pace a 2-1 victory with Katie and Sara sharing the keeper duties. Arsenal (2W-1L-0T) joined us on the pitch for match number two. An opening minute goal from Katie was equalized in the fifteenth minute, but it was an eighteenth minute goal that again gave the Blasters a 2-1 win. In the division deciding match, Saulty scored in the fifth minute, combined with exceptional defense from Liz, Gina, LB, and Jessica, to pace a 1-1 draw against the Stonybrook Hornets (1W-1L-1T) which launched the Blasters (2W-0L-1T) into the finals. The Blasters five "goals-for" was the highest total by all eight teams in the preliminary rounds.

Group I was taken by the GU/15 Premier Rockville Centre Royals (3W-0L-0T) on the strength of a 1-0 win over the GU/14 Premier Morris United Mystics (2W-1L-0T). The Albertson Milan Fury (1W-2L-0T) took third place over the Clifton Park Premier (0W-3L-0T). Final match action saw both sides play to a scoreless tie for twenty minutes when the Rockville Centre Royals broke through on a soft goal. Plainedge pushed the offense forward to get the equalizer, but yielded two more goals in the last three minutes.

Defeat MAPS Premier World Class Hawks for Title

The Plainedge Blasters won the GU/14 Championship in the Saturday, December 4th tournament at Soccer Coliseum in Teaneck, New Jersey. Eleven goals from seven different scorers combined with only four "goals against" on fabulous goal keeping and defensive formations paved the way to this team championship.

The opening match with Arsenal Blue (0W-3L-0T) saw two goals from Mollie, an assist from Carly, and one goal from Liz settle the score at 3-0. Match number two was a see-saw battle against the MAPS Premier World Class Hawks (1W-0L-2T) with an early goal from Katie and a late goal from Saulty for a 2-2 tie. The third match was a 1-0 win over the Warwick Wildkats (1W-1L-1T) on a single goal from Katie accompanied by solid play from Sara in net and Hannah as right forward which advanced the Plainedge Blasters as the Group II winners with 7 points. Meanwhile, Group I was taken by the Rockville Centre Tornadoes (3W-0L-0T), followed by the Bergen (NJ) Arsenal (2W-1L-0T), Sherman (CT) Fusion (1W-2L-0T), and Yorktown Amazons (0W-3L-0T).

Three goals from Gina, LB, and Katie gave the Blasters a 3-1 semifinal victory over the Bergen Arsenal while the World Class Hawks handed the Group I leading Rockville Center Tornadoes a 3-0 semifinal loss. The championship "rematch" was a 2-1 Plainedge crowning victory over the MAPS Premier World Class Hawks on two strong goals from Meredith and LB.

A head-to-head tie breaker procedure with the Patchogue-Medford Shooting Arrows favored the Blasters after the final match of the day. Undefeated Performance in Roxbury Kickoff Classic Premier Division

The Plainedge Blasters closed the 2004 Roxbury Kickoff Classic with a record of 2W-0L-2T in the GU/14 Premier Bracket. Amongst the Premier, Elite, and Division One teams in the six team bracket were the Wallkill Valley Warriors, Clifton Stallions, SSC Roma, Westfield Stars, and Randolph Raiders. The Blasters earned third place when the second place tie breaker (bonus points) favored the Clifton Stallions by a 5-4 score thereby preventing the Blasters championship match appearance. The Blasters were the only team to defeat the other finalists, Wallkill Valley Warriors, in divisional play. In that final match, Clifton won 1-0 following double overtime and six shooters in a penalty kick shootout. The Plainedge Blasters battled against a very strong field of GU/14 Division One and Premier teams from three states at the 2004 Avon Memorial Day Tournament, compiling a record of 1W-3L-1T (4 points) for a fifth place finish. Competition included the Monroe United Mugwa (EHYSL GU/14 D1, New York), SNHI Rockets (Granite GU/14 D1, New Hampshire), West Babylon Pride (LIJSL GU/14 D1, New York), Avon Blasters (CJSA GU/14, Connecticut), and North East United (CJSA GU/14 Premier, Connecticut). Four Consecutive Drawn Matches in 2003 North Hempstead Cup Gold Division

The Plainedge Blasters competed strongly in the North Hempstead Cup and finished with four consecutive hard fought ties during the Columbus Day weekend's action. The competition in the GU/13 Gold Bracket (click for bracket details) included the Elwood Jets, Hicksville Storm, and West Babylon Elite. The Blasters battled right down to the final game's closing minutes against the Elwood Jets and just fell short of second place trophies. The elite field included four of New Jersey's top teams representing some of the very best talent in the Morris County Youth Soccer Association and the surrounding communities. Gold Bracket Showing Takes Third Place at 2002 East Meadow Ref-Fuel

The Plainedge Blasters finished with a 2W-1L-2T record in the 24th Edition of the East Meadow Ref-Fuel Tournament's Gold Division and walked away with third place trophies for their efforts. After the Day One action, RVC led the tournament (9 points), followed by Albertson (7 points), Plainedge (5 points), Wantagh-Seaford (4 points), Hicksville (0 points), and New Hyde Park (0 points). During Day Two games, an outstanding effort against RVC, coupled to an Albertson win over Wantagh-Seaford, sealed the third place trophies for the team.

Perfect 5W-0L-0T Record at East End Tournament

The Plainedge Blasters GU/12 squad opened their 2002-2003 tournament season with a perfect 5W-0L-0T record at the Eighth Annual Bruce Dickter East End Soccer Tournament. Despite the perfect record, the Blasters walked away with second place trophies after the tie breaker process left the Stonybrook Xtreme, also 5W-0L-0T in this eight team division, with more bonus points. The competition was solid with six of the eight teams competing in Division 1 or 2 in LIJSL this Fall 2002 season. The Blasters played terrific soccer throughout the weekend under sunny skies with a heat index approaching one hundred degrees.

Plainedge Split Squads Evenly Matched at Stonybrook Tournament

The split squad Plainedge Blasters played their final event of the 2001-2002 season with three friends from the Plainedge Power at the Stonybrook 6-vs-6 tournament held at the Stonybrook Soccer Complex on Saturday, June 22nd in our first combined effort with the new GU/12 squad.

Both teams, Plainedge White and Plainedge Red, finished the tournament with a record of 2W-3L-0T over the five mini-games. Stonybrook Black and Stonybrook Red took the first two spots in this tournament (split squad Stonybrook Xtreme, Division S1) with third place going to the Elwood Jaguars team. Our Plainedge split squads finished fourth and fifth while the Stonybrook All Stars finished in sixth place.

Plainedge Blasters Take First Place in Commack's GU/11 Gold Division

The Plainedge Blasters accepted an invitation to play in the Commack Soccer Club's Memorial Day Tournament on May 25th, 26th, and 27th and took first place in their Gold Division. Saturday's action was highlighted by a second half comeback win and a second game that was a Division N1 oddity with a 7-4 score after only twelve minutes. Sunday's action was a split decision which led to Monday's "winner-take-all" match against the Garden City squad.

Plainedge Blasters Split Squads Take First and Fourth in Spring Break Tournament

The Easter Monday, April 1st tournament held at the Baymen Soccer Fields in Sayville saw the "Jeffreys" half of the squad finish with a 3W-1L-0T record which was good enough to win the 2002 Spring Break Tournament, beating the second place Smithtown Cyclones on a head-to-head tie breaker. The "Fergusons" tied their first three matches to finish in fourth place.

Congratulations to Mariel, Kiersten, Marjorie, Meghan, Elizabeth, Katelyn, and Sarah (U/10) on their tournament win. Cheers are also in order for BriAnn, Cristina, Gina, Joanna, Jennifer, Kristen, and Ashley (U/10) on their hard fought ties. The competition included four other teams : Smithtown Cyclones (Division S1, Second Place), Hauppauge Hooligans (Division S2, Third Place), Commack Titans (Unranked, Sixth Place), and the Bayport Surge (Division S3, Fifth Place).

Plainedge Split Squad Places Second in GU/11 Brentwood Indoor Tournament

Congratulations to Chris Jacobsen's half of the Blasters at the Ray Perez Indoor Tournament in Brentwood. His split squad went 2W-1L-1T in the tournament which was a strong finish for second place. Scott Jeffreys' split squad finished the tournament in fourth place with a 1W-3L-0T record.

The "Jacobsen's" and "Jeffreys'" faced off in the final game of the tournament with trophies onthe line. The grudge match was taken by the Jacobsen's, 1-0, on a goal with three minutes remaining on the clock by Kiersten.

Other participating teams included the West Islip Blue Diamonds (first place), the Hicksville Storm (third place), and Bayshore (fifth place).

North Hempstead Cup - GU/11 Gold Division Winners

Take a look back at the October 2001 North Hempstead Cup Tournament where the Plainedge Blasters defeated a field that included Division N1 rivals such as the New Hyde Park Lady Panthers and the Albertson Aggressors. During this tournament, the Blasters had three night games over the three days of competition. The final games, held on a Sunday night, were played with temperatures in the thirties and a wind chill that approached the teens!
