* Overall township record from CVC Girls slow pitch & fast pitch softball and WABL Boys baseball had 2nd MOST REGULAR SEASON WINS OF ANY TOWNSHIP with 138 wins
* Overall record including girls slow pitch, fast pitch, and boys baseball was 138-70 for a .643 winning percentage ranked 2nd out of 20 townships * Girls slow pitch record of 80-45 for a winning percentage of .640 winning percentage ranked 4th out of 15 townships in CVC slow pitch

Congratulations West Allegheny Varsity Slow Pitch CHAMPIONS in Inaugural Season

October 25, 2009
Congratulations West Allegheny for winning the 2009 WPISL high school varsity championship by beating North Hills 9-4 in the quarter-finals and Shaler 9-5 in the semi-finals and North Allegheny in the championship 9-8. North Allegheny was leading 6-4 going into the 7th inning when West Allegheny scored five runs to take a 9-6 lead. North Allegheny rallied back strong and scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. West Allegheny secured the win with a phenomenal play at the plate for the final out of the game.

West Allegheny participated for the first time in the slow pitch softball fall league, consisting of mostly class AAAA teams, that organizes by school district and is in it's 4th season of existance. WA had a varsity team consisting of 10th-12th graders consisting of mostly Oakdale players (10) as well as a few players from Findlay, McDonald (2), and North Fayette (2) that are students in the West Allegheny school district. The team was led by Manager Rick Bernardo who manages in Oakdale and is a board member. Next year we hope to facilitate the expansion of this program to a junior varsity and/or junior high teams.

Congratulations to the Oakdale Bolton 10U team for being Championship Runner-Up team and finishing with a 14-3 overall record. Oakdale Bolton lost to undefeated McDonald in the Championship 6-5 on a walk off 2-run home run.

Oakdale Girls 10U Tournament Team Wins Green Tree Tournament Championship

July 21, 2009 – 05:30 PM
Congratulations Oakdale 10U girls slow pitch softball tournament team which won the Green Tree tournament by beating an excellent Bauerstown team in a defensive battle 3-1 in the championship game. The game was tied after 4 innings 1-1 Monday when the rain delayed the game until Tuesday. Oakdale's middle/bottom of the order rallied in the bottom of the 5th to score 2 runs to win the championship. Oakdale went 5-0 in the tournament defeating Bauerstown, Brookline, Mt Washington, and Green Tree in the preliminary round and Bauerstown in the Championship.

Congratulations Oakdale 10U Softball Tournament Championship Runner-Up

Congratulations Oakdale 10U softball tournament team for being the CHAMPIONSHIP RUNNER-UP in the Oakdale 10U Tournament. Oakdale was 3-0 in the preliminary round defeating Cecil, South Fayette, Burgettstown and defeated South Fayette in the semi-finals. The championship game against mighty Robinson Township pitted two undefeated teams at 4-0 against each other. Robinson Township defeated Oakdale 10-4 in the championship game.


Congratulations Oakdale 10U Softball for 3rd Place in South Park Tournament

August 2, 2009
Congratulations to the Oakdale 10U softball tournament team for it's 3rd place finish in the highly competitive 10 team South Park Tournament. Oakdale made the semi-finals going 3-1 in the preliminary round by beating South Park, Chartiers-Houston and Baldwin while losing to Thomas Jefferson (tournament runner-up). Oakdale lost in the semi-finals to TWIST who went on to be the tournament champion.

Congratulations to the Oakdale 10U tournament team on it's 3rd place finish in the highly competitive 8 team CIT Back-to-School double-elimination Tournament. Oakdale defeated Brookline and CIT before losing to eventual champion McKeesport and runner-up McDonald.

* Oakdale 10U tournament team finished 3rd place by defeating Brookline 15-5 and CIT 15-2, but lost to eventual champion McKeesport 14-5 and runner-up McDonald 10-6
* Oakdale 12U tournament team lost to Cranberry Township and lost to Brookline
* WA 15U tournament team featuring many Oakdale players and managers, defeated Plum and Kennedy, lost to Sto-Rox


West Allegheny 10U Travel Team Baldwin Wooden Bat Tournament Champions

July 12, 2009
Congratulations to the West Allegheny Indians 10U Travel Team for winning the Baldwin wooden bat tournament. West Allegheny is led by Oakdale manager and Board Member, Mike Claus, and led by 7 Oakdale players. After being seeded 2nd out of 4 teams after playing 3 games, WA beat West Mifflin 4-2 to advance to the championship game.  WA faced Norwin in the championship game which ended in the 5th inning with a score of 11-1 after the 10-run rule kicked in.

Congratulations West Allegheny 10U Travel Team for winning the 2009 West Allegheny 10U Memorial Day Weekend Tournament hosted by the Oakdale Youth League. West Allegheny, led by Oakdale manager and Board Member, Mike Claus, and led by 7 Oakdale players, defeated North Fayette in the championship game 10-1 after defeating Center 12-7 in the semi-final game and going undefeated in the round robin games.


Oakdale 10U Slow Pitch Tournament

The Oakdale Youth League hosted a 10U slow pitch tournament July 7-12 with 5 teams participating from Oakdale, Robinson Township, South Fayette, Cecil, and Burgettstown. The preliminary round games were Tuesday - Friday 6:15 and 8:00 and the single elimination round all day Saturday and Sunday. Here are the results of Oakdale's scheduled games:

The Oakdale Youth League hosted a 15U slow pitch tournament July 13-19 with 6 teams participating from Oakdale, BAGAA, Mt Washington, CIT, Green Tree and Scott. The preliminary round games were Monday - Friday 6:30 and 8:30 and the double elimination round all day Saturday and Sunday. Here are the results of Oakdale's scheduled games:

Oakdale Adult Fall League Inaugural Year

Thanks to everyone who relived their childhoods and played in the Oakdale over 35 League. Pictured above in RED is the Oakdale Kiss team which took 1st place with a 13-3 record. Oakdale created an adult over 35 fall league which consisted of 5 teams of 14-15 players per team that played at Oakdale Boro Park weeknights. The league will continue next fall and is open to anyone over 35 and they do not need to be associated with the Oakdale Youth League.

Congratulations West Allegheny High School football team for winning the WPIAL AAA championship by defeating Hopewell 36-28 and also making the PA state semi-finals. West Allegheny has won the WPIAL AAA championship 5 times and also has won a state championship

Congratulations to the West Allegheny High School Girls Volleyball team for winning back-to-back WPIAL AA championships by defeating Freeport 3-0.

Congratulations to the 2009 West Allegheny High School girls softball team on it's highest finish in school history by placing 3rd in the WPIAL playoffs.

Special thanks to the West Allegheny Foundation for their continued support of the Oakdale Youth League. Over the past several years the foundation has donated funds that have supported projects such as fixing outfield fencing, new fencing for the Huck Field batting cage, and recently funding to erect a large flag pole at Oakdale Boro Park, which will be completed before next season and a ceremony will be held at the 1st game next year. Oakdale Youth League Annual Picnic

August 23, 2009 – 12:00 PM
The Oakdale Youth League's annual year end picnic is scheduled for August 23rd starting at noon. The league will supply the main dish and beverages and asks everyone to bring a side dish or dessert. Regular season trophies will be handed out and also hoodies for players will be distributed. There will be a skills competition for each age group for prizes. The picnic will hold a chinese raffle and 50/50 drawing. Here is the tentative schedule:

Hoodie Order Form (PDF Format)
The Oakdale Youth League, following it's tradition every 3 years, will be distributing hoodies to all players at no cost to the player. Manager's and parents are welcome to purchase a hoodie at the cost of $20.

The hoodies will come in three colors: red, black, and gray. Your name will be displayed on the bottom back or left front. The hoodies will be distributed at the end of the year at the annual picnic in August.

Lenten Spaghetti Dinner/Bake Sale Fundraiser

Please support our 2nd annual Lenten Spaghetti Dinner/Bake Sale Fundraiser, which will be held Friday March 27th from 4pm - 8pm for a very inexpensive cost of $6 for adults and $3 for children (10 & under). Takeout will be available.

The Oakdale Youth League will receive 20% of sales generated by our supporters that turn in a flyer with their bill for the entire day of May 7th (lunch and dinner). We will also distribute the flyers at pictures to all league members.

2009 Offseason Field Projects

* Planted grass on the edge of the outfield grass to decrease the size of the infield which was oversized for our age groups at Oakdale Boro Park in the fall 2008/spring 2009.

* Huck Field batting cage net installed inside the entire cage to preserve the new fencing in March 2009.

* Huck Field batting cage new outdoor green carpet installed courtesy donation from USA Carpets in March 2009.

* General field cleanup day in March 2009.
