FARMINGDALE - The Jackson Jaguars exploded for five goals in the second period to break open a one-goal game and cruised past Toms River South, 8-0, at Jersey Shore Arena. Eight different scorers lit the lamp for Jackson while senior goalie Nick Abela stopped 16 shots for his first shutout of the season.

After junior forward John Troncone put the Jaguars on top with a power play goal mid-way through the first period, Jackson tallied three times in a 1:12 span early in the second to break it open. Kyle Sampson made the score 2-0 off a feed from Austin Boyle and Tom Holowchuk. Holowchuk tallied an unassisted goal 30 seconds later before Drew Sokoloff capped the three goal outburst to give Jackson a 4-0 lead.

Later in the second, senior defenseman Josh Saar blasted a one-timer from the point through a screen to make it 5-0, and Travis Moore capped the scoring in the middle period with a goal off a feed from Tyler Dickey. Brian Magee and Will Evans added a goal apiece in the third period as the Jaguars pushed their conference record to 3-4-0 in Shore Conference "A" South.

Abela was not tested with too many quality shots from Toms River South, which is still looking for its first win of the 2012-2013 campaign, but did not let any of the Indians' shot get past him to earn his thrid victory of the season.

Jackson Memorial will look to even its record when it travels to the Ice Palace in Brick to take on Brick Memorial on Sunday. Toms River South will look to hit the victory column when it takes on Brick Township on Friday.

Junior forward John Troncone had two goals and an assist in the third period as the Jackson Jaguars broke a tie and snapped a four-game losing streak by outlasting Steinert, 7-5, at Pro Skate in Monmouth Junction.

Austin Boyle's goal with eight minutes remaining in the third period gave Jackson the lead for good, and Tom Holowchuk's power play goal with three minutes left gave the Jags some needed insurance and was the eventual game-winner. After Steinert's Tanner Dow cut the lead to 6-5 with a goal with 1:34 remaining, Troncone sealed the victory for Jackson with an empty net goal.

Troncone's goal a minute into the third had given Jackson the lead, but Steinert's Alex Verdi scored 15 seconds later to tie the contest.

Jackson had secured a 3-1 lead late in the first with three goals in a span of 1:01. Down 1-0, Kyle Sampson scored twice on the same shift to turn a 1-0 Jaguar deficit into a 2-1 lead. Defenseman Tyler Dickey then made a rush and banged a shot off the crossbar and into the net for a 3-1 lead after one period. Dickey finished the game with a goal and two assists.

Nick Abela was credited with the victory between the pipes for Jackson, as the senior netminder stopped 20 Steinert shots en route to his second victory of the season.

Jackson's victory snapped a four-game slide as the Jags have had a brutal schedule of late, including losses to Brick, Wall and St. John Vianney. The team will look to start a winning streak when it faces off against Howell on Thursday afternoon at Howell ice world.
